When I founded this community back in 2014 I knew it had great potential when we started to form a strong community of excellent like minded people but never thought it would rise to the size it was today and I certainly did not think we would still be doing this 7 years on with still a massive and bright future ahead of us! Since around 2016 and the change over to Roleplay.co.uk with the formation of the management team we worked to devolve power amongst us, to staff leads and the staff team meaning this community could and would continue if one day one of us left or dropped dead in our chair. I have personally have not been around since the start of 2021, I have always preached it and now it's time to take some of my own advice Real life must come first and with an ending of a very long term relationship, a start of a very exciting new one, an increase of IRL work and a massive increase of running and fitness I no longer have the time to fulfil my duties at a member of management or staff at Roleplay UK Therefore after a few months of consideration and long thoughts I have decided to make the very hard decision to leave my position as management, but I do so incredibly proud of what we have all achieved as a community and what you all will continue to achieve in the future. The management team, The staff team, and the development team are an incredible bunch! You are very lucky to have them and they will take this community to the next level, the next roleplay platforms! I leave this project knowing that it is in very good strong stable hands. This place is a massive outlet for everyone who enjoys it, you can emerge yourself in any character you wish to, be who you wish to no matter what real life is throwing at you, It's also a place where thousands of us have made new contacts and new friends and those friends have stuck by us during the good times, the hard times!   2. The future of Arma There is no denying that the Altis server has declined in popularity recently and so time has come for drastic action. A suggestion made recently proposed the idea of wiping the server and starting again. This is something we were already planning with one small difference. On 17th July, the Altis server will update to no longer be the Altis server but the new and improved Malden server. At this time the server will also be wiped. Malden? The team along with our newest Developer Mystix have been working behind the scenes to start Malden from scratch. Not only will this map be a fresh environment to roleplay, it will also coincide with changes to the server itself to add new challenges, new runs and new opportunities to roleplay. The focus of Malden will more be about small groups doing their own unique things rather than large groups of gangs all just being gangs. I'll go over some of what you can expect to see below. Runs Runs make up a lot of what you have to do at the start and so it was important that runs had some work to ensure it is not the same as always. To start with, lots of old runs have been removed as Malden is a smaller map and could not support so many runs. This reductions in runs will help to increase the chance of having roleplay interactions on the run you pick. Additionally, some runs have transferred over to a new system that rather than having a sell location have a variety of sell locations each with a different way to complete. With these changes it means a convoy of HEMTTS may at last not be the best way to do each run. However, speaking of HEMTTS, a vehicle storage upgrade has been added for certain vehicles including the HEMTT box. Oil Delivery Once processed, rather than selling Oil to the Oil Trader, you will be able to get an Oil Delivery job at which point you will be tasked to deliver the Oil to any of the fuel stations around the island. Additionally, a change to the backend system means fluid items, like oil, can only be stored in fluid vehicles so don't be rocking up to the Oil Mine with a standard truck. Cocaine (my favourite) Cocaine is collected at a field near one of the airports and is processed at a building near the other airport. At this point you will be able to get a delivery mission to "drop cocaine" at a marked location in the ocean. How do you drop cocaine you ask? You load it into a Caesar, in which the storage has been increased, fly over the drop zone and drop the cocaine out of your plane. Be careful though, the higher you fly the more likely locals are to report you to Police!! Weed Weed starts as normal but this time at the processor you'll get the option to start a weed delivery mission. When you do this you'll be asked to deliver a certain amount of Weed to a house on the map. When you've done this you'll get automatically get another house that needs a certain amount of Weed, you can repeat this until you've sold all your weed. Obviously, Weed will pay more than other runs for the trouble of delivering it all around the world. Additionally, a new perk has been added that means each Weed request will be for more Weed. Uranium More of a science lesson than anything but Refined Uranium (U-235) is over 6 times more active than (U-238) and so to transport refined uranium you will need a vehicle with the radiation shielding upgrade. As you can probably imagine, radiation shielding is very heavy and so it cannot be added to helicopters. Factory Changes A change to the backend of the factory means we can now have many different factories each able to be locked to different people/ groups of people. This means we can start offering business'/ groups their own factory with a product only they can make. I'll be opening this up to suggestions once we go live and people start forming their RP groups. To start with though, a factory that only makes Marmite has been created...I wonder who that is for ready for you to claim at any time HINT HINT. Capture zones Static capture zones will no longer have a place on the server. These only discouraged from roleplay and lead to too many people playing solely for the cap zones. The SAF cargo drop is still a thing and gang wars will continue to be a thing. Misc Some smaller changes that don't need their own category. Firstly, the most important one, Suits will no longer be sold in Hugo Ross but instead in "Science's Luxury Suits" because I wear a suit everyday and wanted a shop named after me. Also, the Kavala Casino is now the "Scissors Palace".... if you don't get it then think harder. Also the virtual shop has been updated so the price displayed is now the price paid after modifications for things such as being an off-duty medic have been considered rather than after. Some of the backend changes in this are going to allow us to do more unique/ individual things than we could on Altis and we'll be taking advantage of this to grant fresh opportunities to all players.   3. So I recently read a suggestion for some sort of Developer Roadmap and there were a few comments on it which led me to writing this post. First a disclaimer: It is indeed true that we don’t really love giving people these massive roadmaps on everything to come and what we are working on. This isn’t because we want to be secretive or anything like that. The simple reason is that we want to avoid creating unmanageable expectations. We have done this a few times in the past. In my personal opinion it has only led to bad / negative experiences. As far as I have personally experienced, The larger updates and suggestions have always built up a lot of hype and a lot of negativity around every update that did not bring the expected features. One developer will be working on a large feature (let’s use imports for an example) and any time an update comes around the corner people are disappointed when it does not come in. Anything cool that comes in that update is already seen as less interesting because it isn’t the big thing that everyone is waiting for and when the actual update comes in there was so much build up and such a long wait that people are no longer interested or lose interest within a few weeks. Above all that there is the chance of plans changing, things not working out development-wise, other projects taking priority and features that end up being but on the back burner or even fully scrapped. This again only leads to more disappointment and general REE which is something we would like to avoid as much as possible. Similarly this is why we have not been responding so actively to suggestions. All suggestions are logged internally and categorized on our board. Just because you don’t see us respond to them as actively as we used to doesn’t mean we don’t read them and discuss them and consider implementing them. The thing you must realize with suggestions is that most of the suggestions that are “good enough” to implement and will have a really good impact on the server are also the ones that will take a lot of time and effort to implement. Besides that, a big feature generally requires careful thought and a lot of discussion, discussions take time and require a lot of people to agree on how to implement something which is unfortunately not always that easy with our increasingly big development team. But you said it was going to be a roadmap.... Though I don’t want to give a list of all the things to potentially come and what quarter to expect them in (for all the above reasons). I think it is definitely good for us to update the community on what direction we generally want to move towards with the server. So let’s give that a shot: Those Pesky Bugs (+backend stability stuff) The last month(and probably the next one or two weeks) has been all about fixing bugs, improving some vital areas of the codebase and cleaning up some of the old code. It’s a shit job that nobody likes doing and it doesn’t have the same wow factor when it appears on the changelog, but it is still a crucial part of the development process and we have been struggling to keep up with all the small little issues, bugs, dupes and other problems. Luckily the Game Testers and the Bug Reporters have been doing an amazing job documenting and reproducing as many of the bugs as possible, making our lives so much easier. Halloween After that we likely wanna spend some time preparing for the end of October. Last year’s event was very fun for some people, and very boring for others, we would like to make it a bit more interesting for everyone involved. If you were around last year and have any ideas on how to improve it, please give some feedback on your experience. Balancing the Economy It has not gone unnoticed that some of the more recent changes have made certain aspects of the server very expensive, especially for newer players or new characters. So we are looking into how we can best improve that whilst still keeping everything balanced. If you have any suggestions please keep them as constructive as possible, outline the solution not just the problem. Balancing an economy is a very delicate task. If you want to contribute to that please make suggestions like X now costs 100 pounds but it would work better at 75 because A, B and C. Simply saying X is too expensive doesn’t give us much to work with. Balancing Cars A lot of changes came through to vehicles in the last few weeks, nothing is final, it’s all constantly being monitored and discussed, and adjustments will be made accordingly. Please keep giving constructive feedback on what vehicles you think need changing. Legal Jobs It is very apparent to us that people consider legal life on the server to be boring and mundane. The constant issue we are running into is the fact that we don’t want to add more runs where all you need to do is press e, drive somewhere and press e again and honestly I don’t think this is what you guys want either, we're actively looking into ways of making the jobs more interactive but a lot of it boils down on how you choose to RP it. We are, however, trying to add a few more legal ways to make money that could open up new avenues for roleplay. Guns A while ago we made the decision to quite heavily restrict the influx of weapons, at the time we all agreed this was a necessary change, but it does seem now like we have somewhat hit the other extreme. We are gonna be looking at some middle ground, one potential change for this is rebalancing the stats on weapons (specifically pistols) to make some of the other weapons more beneficial and significantly dropping the prices / cost of manufacturing on the lower tier weapons. Crime We are looking into some more ways to commit crimes on the server and allow players to create slightly longer lasting criminal stories that involve a few steps before actually getting the reward but allow for a lot more opportunities for roleplay. So not just a simple click of a button to rob a bank, but slightly more preparation and effort required. VOIP We will be doing some more testing with VOIP to try and improve stability during peak times, this might mean that we will occasionally need to do some stress testing on the live server which will cause short outages when switching servers. Unfortunately the problem we have only occur around max player count so the only way for us to effectively test changes is on the live server. Clothing The dreaded clothing update, which has ended up becoming an even bigger job than we considered (and that is without actually adding any clothing). It is likely that when it does finally come in, it will come in in batches. Essentially starting with the barebones framework for new clothing and adding custom clothing in small batches in future updates. Crayon Club We have expanded the Crayon Club, to include a discord channel in which certain people in the community who have proven they have got awesome graphics skills, can communicate with and assist the developers with some textures, MLO's, vehicle skins and various other assets. Hopefully this should help us with the increasing amount of graphics work. Business Proposals Though we are currently closed for any new proposals (anything requiring any development changes), we are going through all current business owners to see if they are still actively running their business, if not they will be replaced, plus we will soon be filling up some of the businesses that have recently been abandoned by people who have since left (or been removed) from the community. It will be announced everywhere you can possibly imagine when we do any type of auction or allow proposals for a specific shop, so there is no need to message anyone until that time. All of that and many more Besides all of this there are a ton of other things we are constantly working on and I'm sure I've forgotten things and more things will have been added to the list by the time I finish writing this post. There is a constant stream of ideas and tasks that float in and out of different priority levels and getting to the larger features that you all are waiting for is sometimes more difficult and time-consuming than you would expect. Especially with everyone coming off of their summer breaks and going back to uni or work we have to be very deliberate with the time we are able to spend on development. Large features generally require large chunks of time and are often a lot harder to work on if you only have an hour a day. What can you do to help? Keep reporting the bugs and the more urgent issues with as much detail as possible. Someone from the testing team or the development team will try and get as much information from you as possible for us to solve it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Be constructive with your suggestions. Just saying X is shit, or Y is broken does not help and frankly it doesn’t make us want to work on the problem, it comes across as children moaning and complaining about a toy being broken and does not help us solve the potential issue. Please Tell us what you think we should do to fix it and be realistic with the solution. Keep on creating cool unique stories, help out the new players, reward good roleplay and most importantly, have a bit of fun. In the end we (the devs as well) are all here to have fun and enjoy the game as much as we can. Final Note: Some people have the feeling that development has halted the past 2 months or so, and a small part of that is probably true and can be explained by everyone going back to work etc. But I can assure you the dev team has been extremely hard at work dealing with a variety of issues and improvements which might have not always made a changelog. Countless hours have gone into improving our core, and the backend. If you have paid attention the past few weeks you probably have a general idea what I am referring to.   4. So that time has come, where I am standing down from GTA development lead. I have lead the project for the last 18 months and we have come far from the start. We have been through a lot, a lot of changes, there is so much more to do and so far to go, the server and community is in good hands with @Recon Nineleading the charge! Thank you to everyone for their time, suggestions etc, I am sorry I couldn't get to everyone individually and make everyones experience a little bit unique and catered to each roleplay story. Date / Time: 30/06/2021 20:00 Release: What a week The elephant in the room: Firstly, I would like to take the time and thank @Stealtheefor all he has done for the server, the community and each individual member of the development team. Very few people know the amount of time and dedication Stealthee has put into building the server from the ground up; managing the ever-growing demand for features, features and more features; the ever-growing amount, skill and opinion of the developers; and the ever-growing number of players literally fighting to get into the server after a restart. My first interaction with Stealthee was when I was doing a fishing run back in the first week of the server. He needed to push an emergency restart after a "Magic Man Attack". It was late at night, but there were still a good 35+ people on the server doing various runs across the Island. I remember him going around personally teleporting to every single person and making sure they wouldn't lose a thing from the restart. I had just rented a boat for my run and was graciously refunded the £2,500 which at the time was still a lot of money. This to me has always been the perfect example of the level of dedication and commitment that Stealthee brings to this community every single day. It has brought us to this: A server with 225 players and more than 100 players in queue. 15 developers who have learned so much under Stealthee's guidance and teaching. 41,245 Characters 282 Police Officers 87 Medics 48 Gruppe6 Officers 155 Turf Gang Members 19,703 Vehicles 210,294 Tweets >3Million calls and messages 103,000 Deaths >1.5Billion in the bank and my personal favourite 415,214 hands of blackjack played and a total of 15,6 Billion GBP wagered on the tables. If you add all of those numbers up together, you still won't have the number of messages in his personal inbox with everyone's requests, complaints, suggestions and prayers. I struggle to see how he dealt with all of that. (I have gotten 8 in the time it took me to write this post and my dreams are already being haunted by the ping from a message on the forums). Stealthee, you have left us a legacy that we can only hope to uphold, improve and build upon. The work you have done for this community will never be forgotten. #ballasontop Allright, now I will stop pretending he's died in a horrible car crash, he will still be sticking around as a developer. So yeah, get back to work and finish the bloody clothing update already. I do however want him to PAINFULLY remember how many of you he catered to and "worked for" on a daily basis, So... If you want to say thank you to Stealthee I ask that you tag him on discord in #gta-fivem-roleplay with a quick "Thank You for Everything". Paint is going to be working on making some of our old outdated UI's look absolutely amazing. You will see some of the hard work he has done in the coming few updates already. Smith is going to start with working on some of those pesky bugs that have been bothering all of us, but he needs your help for that. Please keep reporting bugs on the forums with as much details as possible. The test team will try and reproduce them and make sure they get on our list. We have a few more interviews and potential candidates that we are looking into so keep your eyes glued for more of that. Testing Team Big thanks to some of the very dedicated members in the testing team who have been extremely helpfull in managing some of the bug reproduction and feature testing. We are looking at adding a few more testers to the testing team to deal with the growing amount of development work. If you are interested please fill in this form HERE (Only submissions from this source will be looked at, so if you have registered previously, please register again). Proposals, Requests, Complaints & Prayers vs. Development Time and Resources. As I said previously, Stealthee received a metric fuck tonne of messages with everyone's requests. Moments after he passed the torch, my various inboxes started getting pinged from all directions. So much so that I have had to make the painfull decisions to close some of the doors for the time being. Effective immediately, business proposals, ideas, big suggestions , faction/gang/group requests are going to be put on hold. The development team has gone through some massive changes in the past few days and we need quite time to properly assess all the current stuff that is still in the pipelines, all the bugs that have already been reported and all the other stuff that needs to be looked at and discussed within the development team. Just because the requests are on hold doesn't mean we won't be actively developing these areas of the server. It just means the list is long enough and we have got plenty of stuff to work on so we don't need more input for the time being. Myself and members of the development team will obviously still be checking in with groups/faction leads, business owners and established players to see what needs to be immediately solved. But it will be when we have got our footing and we are ready for it. The Development Team is going to be looking into and properly dicussing where we want to go with the server and the community from here on out. We have heard a lot of your complaints, suggestions and ideas and all of them will be taken into consideration and will be discussed. But the general themes are: More focuss on civillian life (bit of illegal, but mainly legal). In the end there is a lot of roleplay scenario's to be created from this and we are missing out. A proper look at the weapon meta and balance of the server. A proper look at the economy and how it can be improved, maintained and kept interesting (#didsomeonesaydynamicmarkets #stonks) Final notes: It's been a busy couple of months for everyone. With the world slowly opening up again and everyone going back to work, school and the amount of time that the developers have been able to but into the server, has been lower than during the lockdown. I would still like a massive thank you to all of the members of the Development Team for all their efforts. I have seen people coming home from a long day of work and gone straight to developing untill the late hours of the night. Although everyone works extremely hard and deserves equal credit, I do believe A special commendation should go to @Archie whose blood, sweat and many many tears, have brought to fruition an amazing feature change that all of you will experience very very soon.

We've attempted to make the economy a bit more balanced for civilians and new characters as it hadn't scaled with the growing economy since the start of the server. Plus we've upped the slots a bit as the main bottleneck previously was voice which is now running on an amazing server box so hopefully that allows for more players.

  7. Fair warning, my post is fucking long but please stick with me if you can, I'd like to get as many thoughts and opinions from those that still play Altis as I can. Also for reference, all of my stats and graphs in this post come from Battlemetrics. (https://www.battlemetrics.com/servers/arma3/253087). On the 7th December the maximum player count (highest number the server hit on that day) was 73. From this point, it has continued deteriorating to where we are currently hitting no more than 50 players at any given time. This unfortunately seems to be the new norm. During November we had a surge, likely influenced partly by lockdown, that saw us hitting a minimum of 90 players most nights, though during the weekends it was usually around 110. But the high player count during November is the anomaly. Before that surge, it was as it currently is: hardly ever hitting more than 50 players. That’s the way it was for months. Dark blue is lowest player count, bright yellow is highest. The darker the green (or if the count reaches above 120 it begins to turn yellow), the higher the player count. Source = Battlemetrics. If we want to keep the Altis server alive, something needs to change. Arma 3 is clearly not the whole problem, and nor is Altis Life. We know this because if we look at two other Altis Life servers, both British themed just like ours, we can see that they are performing fine. These are the player counts of GTA and Reborn. GTA has 180 player slots, and Reborn has 130. At the time of writing (10pm Saturday), GTA has 128 players online and Reborn is completely full up. We have 42. (Not sure if I'm allowed to name them or if we still treat them like Voldemort, but either way everyone here knows about these servers and what they are called, so who cares) It’s clear to see then that the issue is not with this gamemode, nor the game itself. We specifically are doing something wrong. These other servers are thriving. Why aren’t we? The highest point of the November surge was the final weekend of that month. Between Thursday 27th November and Tuesday 1st December, we had 578 first-time players join the server. Of course we can’t expect every first-time player to turn into regulars, but you would hope to retain a portion of them at least. We don’t seem to have done that. As I have mentioned, we are currently unable to get more than 50 players online at any time. So how did we lose those players? And more importantly, what can we do to keep them? 1. The map needs to be unbalanced. Where does almost every new player spawn? Kavala. These days, what will the new player find in Kavala the first time they spawn in? Fuck all. Even during the busy November nights, that key spawn location- the capital city- was pretty dead. At present, things are spread out all over the map to utilise the space available to us. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the thinking behind that, but it’s sacrificing the amount of interactions players are having with each other- and the interactions are the whole point of the game, after all. When a player spawns in for the first time, we need to surround them with activity. They need to be thrown into a busy atmosphere. The main cities need to be stuffed with important locations: move the sellers, the taxi place, the ARAC place, the drug dealers all into a compacted space. Create highstreets. Fuck the rest of Kavala, put as much as possible into the square. Make it a hotspot, where you know that you’re going to find someone to talk to if you go there. And while you’re at it, put the drug dealer back at the church in Kavala. I’ve felt for years that moving it out of the city sucked the soul away. There needs to be a balance of course: I’m not suggesting everything goes into the cities. But we need to be attracting lots of players to them, especially Kavala. 2. Points of interest. So our new player has spent two hours being dazzled by our busy and bustling Kavala, and he’s now ready to set out into the wild. He drives away in his hobo hatchback and finds… fuck all of any real interest. Now, I know at this point you’re saying, “but Dan, you just told us to move everything into Kavala, no wonder you’re not a developer and only known around here as George’s inferior sidekick” and to that I say, you’re right, I did say to stuff Kavala like a turkey at Christmas. So what’s something that historically was relatively busy, very interesting, and too big to fit into a city? My penis Custom gang bases! Bases that gangs with a high enough player count and good enough reputation have submitted to the devs and then been ejaculated onto the map. The custom bases gave the map a uniqueness and character. Our new player can see immediately that we’ve got loads of good gangs for him to choose from just by looking at the map and seeing the gang bases. He can go and visit them, and learn about the gangs and their cultures just by looking around the bases that they designed themselves. It gives the server character, something that it’s really lacking right now. And why stop there? Let's throw in a Covid testing checkpoint for the NHS to use, or a courtroom for the police- there doesn't have to be an official court system, just have it there to be used if they want to. There's loads of stuff you could do. Just give people tools to roleplay. 3. Bring back the Mentors. So you’re new, you’re confused, and you’ve just arrived at our sparkling new and overpopulated capital city. You glance at the map and you see all these gang bases marked and all these weird markers like ‘tree farm’ and ‘cider factory.’ You’re more nervous and confused than Drex and Samantha at a wedding. Where do you go, who do you call? You wander down Kavala high street and find the Tour Guide booth, conveniently located in a very easy-to-find spot and call for a Mentor! The Mentors were experienced players designated to helping newbies find their feet, with no in-game powers. I think they were underutilised back in the day and used more as TS moderators than anything else. This time, the new player will be able to call for one directly in game (similar to police dispatches or admin messages) and a Mentor will promptly make their way to them. Bring them back and focus them towards helping new players, and there’s no doubt that it will help convince a few newbies to stick around. And as a bonus point, staff members should only be chosen from an existing pool of Mentors. Ease staff into power, otherwise they turn out powermad and egotistical, just like Gordon (just joking Big G, love you hahahaunblacklistmehahahah). The problem is that the server just doesn’t feel as alive as it once did, even on the rare occasions when we are getting 120 players on. As the server has evolved and things have become more… professional? (i.e. buying ready-made gang bases instead of having custom ones manually placed), the character of the server has been sacrificed. It’s the difference between getting a mass produced jumper from a big brand, one that’s a clone of hundreds of thousands of others; and getting a hand-knitted jumper with your initials on that your gran made specially for you. I’m not saying the suggestions I’ve made will make everything hunky dory, but I do believe they will help, and in the meantime we need to start trying shit. We need to spray and pray, like Armed Response at a bank robbery. Something needs to happen man or this server’s gonna die, which would be a mighty shame seen as I don’t think it’s done yet. I still think it’s got plenty of life left. I just hope that this doesn’t turn into one of those things that gets completed ignored and forgotten by the powers-that-be. We all want the same thing, after all. So please, agree and disagree with me, make counter arguments, come up with your own ideas- the point is that we all need to pull together and find a way of bringing it back to its best, otherwise it will die.   9. After 7 and a half long and eventful years the Arma 3 server of RPUK will be coming to a close. It has not been an easy decision that we, as the management team, in consultation with the Arma dev team have not taken lightly but due to dwindling player numbers on both Arma 3 as a whole and our server, we feel that our UK themed Arma 3 server has run its course. We have attempted to extend the life of the server by taking actions such as, a mass unban, the fair bans system, a new start on Malden. We've tried to let it run for as long as we could, however the Arma 3 servers next renewal date is 00:00 01/09/21 and we have chosen not to renew at this time and refocus our resources elsewhere. Over our long history we have seen 287,626 unique players, playing a total of 148.9 years* (*since 18/01/2018) in practice that is more likely double if not triple since 2014. Accumulating a whopping £123,721,080,168 ingame cash. 12,484 civilian groups, over 28,800 police applications, over 19,600 NHS applications, over 3400 Poseidon applications.   11. I have questions about the direction the city is taking? I would like to open with the statement that I am by no means disparaging the RPUK server. I am merely voicing my concern and wondering if I am Missing something. Are we trying to force the majority of players who aren't NHS, Police or super Rich business owners in to the life of crime or gang life? The reason I ask this is because The majority of legitimate work now costs the employee money to perform. My examples, Trucking : Fuel deliveries are not profitable (if they even pay at all) Taxi driving : The fuel cost outweighs the fair payment. Fruit Picking : Doesn't Ripen so unusable. Fishing : Profit - Time Spent has become non profitable. Park Ranger : Is the most reasonable option however the progress is very slow and still the fuel for the truck costs more than the payments as the journeys are huge. however there are still unusable items (Leather) which have no use. The only people now to be able to make an honest living are, NHS, Police or Those who are already rich and own a business. There does not seem to be any viable "Legal" Jobs to make an honest living.   12. You in the Wrong Hood! This is the pre gang update thread. Within this thread and in subsequent comments(if there are any) we hope to answer some questions you may have and layout our plans for the future of gangs within Los Santos. The layout of the thread is official gang snippets followed by features and questions. While there is a well structured wiki for the GTAV universe covering gangs, the lore below has been ‘loosely’ based off real GTAV lore as well as written for RPUK to fit a more tailored experience to how we want the gangs to react with and co-exist with each other within our server. There is room to grow should the need arise, but these are the gangs we have catered for in the upcoming update. These gangs will have a clearly marked turf on the map as well as custom made assets, they will be soft white-listed (upper ranks only) and therefore these gangs will have to be applied for if you have the intention of running one, and yes you must be 18+ and so will anyone senior ranked and above (more below). If you and your friends see a gang that fits your style or method of roleplay, please send me your proposal via message on here. And we want to see you out and about in your respective gangs! *Leadership: Fulfilled. Gang has existing leadership. (reserved) *Leadership: Vacant. Gang is ready to be applied for. Leadership: Fulfilled Hostile with: Ballas Grove street also identified as ‘Families’ Are now back to residing in their home territory, Grove street. Reclaiming their street was a victory in itself amidst their long and bitter feud with the Ballas. Although their numbers considered to be dwindling after recent events where several members were gunned down by Ballas and Vagos alike, Grove Street, identified by their green gang colours, are often seen standing around their turf involving themselves in illicit activities, they also like to park up in their green low-riders kitted out in hydraulics and are trying to find ways to get closer to the cartel. Since they are now back in their home turf, they find themselves precariously sandwiched between The Ballas new turf, and now their new enemies, The Vagos. After several Vagos members where slaughtered during the large scale gang-war between Grove and the Ballas. They have yet to find a solution to settle their differences with the yellow clad Mexicans who live next door. Leadership: Fulfilled. Hostile with: Grove Street The Ballas, most commonly known for their active feud with Grove Street members, are now residing in their new turf in Strawberry/Innocence blvd. Albeit a sore loss since losing their control of Grove street Av, they are happily operating in and out of their new properties and gang house, where they spend a lot of time ‘baking’ and mixing various auto-flowering cannabis strains to find that perfect high. Since being turfed out of Grove street post war, Identified by their purple colours, The Ballas have become amicable with The Vagos, finding mutual ground with how Grove dealt with recent events, labelling them as ‘gun-ho’ and power hungry killing whoever gets in the way regardless of alliance. Although they may come across high as kites while flashing their latest chains and cars, The Ballas are notoriously ruthless, it is rumoured they allowed Grove street to retake their cul-de-sac just so they know just where their enemy will always be. The Ballas have also recently found neutral ground with The Vagos since discovering The Azetcas have been heavily involved in arms dealing after stealing from the cartel, taking custom away from the gangs residing in the south side of the city. Leadership: fulfilled Hostile with: Aztecas Despite their street thug appearance, The Vagos are in fact closely tied with the cartel and are heavily involved in drug trafficking. They are a multinational group, with most of them being made up of illegally residing Mexicans. The Vagos have a long running feud with The Aztecas, after forcing them out of the city with their tail between their legs for underground arms deals in the south side. Identified by their yellow clothing, and calling themselves ‘The Yellow Bandits’ a large portion of the original Vagos members are now incarcerated, but their drug ring is still being run from prison. Once mutual with Grove street they then found themselves a leader down after he was shot and killed by Grove, but since their hierarchy is flat but highly competitive, Poppa Lopez has stepped up to fulfil the reign as the new El Jefe of The Vagos. Leadership: Fulfilled Hostile with: Vagos The Aztecas, rumoured to have been around stretching as far back at the 1940’s, have a very strict and aged hierarchy. Like the Vagos, they are mostly made up of Mexican decent. Identified by their vibrant turquoise gang colours, they are actively at war with The Vagos, by whom they have been exiled from the city, out smarted and out-gunned by their younger more agile enemy they have now settled in at Sandy Shores. Squatting in abandoned buildings, they have set down roots, infiltrating the trade routes of the Senora Desert to disrupt the active trading of the cartel and thus interfering with the flow of arms and drugs being distributed into Los Santos. It is here they found themselves a new mutual acquaintance within the Marabunta Grande, but how long can this alliance last? And will it last with the new blood, Jaffa Benitez at the head? Leadership: Fulfilled Hostile with: Triads The Marabunta Grande have been quietly linked with the cartel for several years. Being the cartels puppets along the Senora Desert trade route, they are mostly made up of crazy blood hungry Salvadorans who ask questions later. Not shy of torturing and slaughtering those who get in the way of their business they have now allied with The Aztecas, but rumour has it, they prefer to keep their enemies close. After all two gangs after the same bounty while both trying to please the cartel, can’t stay allied forever. Marabunta are currently at war with the Triads, the two gangs came head to head over a turf war, Marabunta Grande being extremely territorial kidnapped the leader of the Triads and it’s rumoured they tortured him for around two weeks before his unrecognisable body was left with a bow on the doorstep of The Triads turf near Vespucci Beach. The Marabunta Grande identified by their blue colours, like to refer to themselves as ‘wolves’ stalking and often playing with their prey. They are often covered in tattoos from the neck up, forever masking their identity. Masters at getting away with murder, they have some long standing members, who have yet to pay for their despicable and often sickening crimes, along with a brand new leadership to shake things up, new Jefe Joshua Cortés, will surely be seeing red. Leadership: Fulfilled Hostile with: Marabunta Grande The Triads 三合会 are Chinese nationals, currently residing in the China town district of Los Santos near Vespucci Beach. They regard themselves as an extremely close family although not all of them are blood-related. They abide by a strict moral code that they have passed down through generations since the original members came from the Chinese Crime Syndicate. They prefer to spend their time training in hand to hand combat, and creating their own drugs of choice to harness a bountiful living at the expense of others. Although now, with new leader Xiao Lingdao and still reeling after the recent kidnapping by Marabunta Grande, the Triads have actively gone to war with them. Their bold and brash red gang colours emblazoned with a Chinese dragon are a little distraction while they bide their time. Replenishing their ranks and they are out for blood, but undoubtedly, will do it with the finesse and planning you would expect from none other than these Chinese assassins. You will be appointed control of your new gang when the update goes live, it's up to you to appoint your underlings and begin recruitment of regular members. Remember, you are only allowed to join one turf gang. So choose where your loyalties lay. There are several features of this update that have been created from scratch and overhauled to fit in with the new way and style of progressing with your gang, while we hope you use these methods sensibly and as 'tool' to further enhance your roleplay. These features will be implemented when the gang update in it's entirety goes live. Gang Management & New Interface. The new gang interface allows anybody to create a gang, although not all these gangs will be turf gangs, the turf gangs will be using the same interface with extra features, it will just allow turf gangs access to turf/stash house/gang assets and perks. They are however, a way for you and your friends to have access to and keep tabs on your gang/group. And also if you have the intention of putting a proposal forward for one of the turf gangs, it would be a good way to start. Inside the new interface it allows you to invite, promote, kick, rename ranks. It also allows you to customise permissions for those ranks if you are a turf gang senior member+, allows which ranks can wear the custom clothing, access the vehicle, access the safe, weapons and others. All of this can be customised with how and who you want to have access to what within your gang. Turfs Turfs are coloured areas on the map that coincide with each of the six gangs we have implemented. Turfs however are not a free kill on sight zone, or a red zone. They are an area that's controlled by the gang, and also gang pedestrians. These turfs have a hostility level depending on which gang you are in, depending on who you are enemies with. This hostility level may give you benefits if you are able to successfully deal drugs in a hostile zone or even possibly loot. While we want to encourage Gang v Gang, we also want to see some good roleplay that correlates to the gun fights, arguments and hostility that will become a common place within these zones. On a side note the pedestrians in these zones are also more than willing to ring the police or notify the local gang if you do decide to step into a turf and try to push your dodgy drugs in a hostile area. Gangs are also not limited to only fighting in these zones either. Stash Houses Inside each turf, there will be one or several stash houses for each turf gang. This stash house is yours, it's a place for you and your gang to hang out. It also comes with several features such as access to your gangs clothing/vehicle, a safe to stash all of your unmentionables. It also comes with abilities to craft weaponry and your own drug manufacturing tables and areas. Drugs The new drug system is and will be a big change to the entire city. Access to drugs is being moved away from civilians and ushered towards the gangs and the underground part of the city as it should be. Certain drugs will be only available through gangs, while the drug world is still open to everybody it is no longer going to be gathered in the open world. You will be collecting ingredients from various sources for bigger drugs and cooking them from scratch with a recipe. Weed however is going to be available to grow in your houses for everyone, although again, you're going to have to shell out and source the equipment. There will be a lot more types drugs available in the city, and some of these may have beneficial or adverse effects. To make money from these drugs we have moved away from selling to one static guy, and instead to get rid of and make money from these drugs you will have to individually sell to locals in certain areas, who have access to gang burner phones if you are inside a turf, and also the police. New Gang Weapons Each of the turf gangs will have the ability to craft their own weapon, these guns will have the gangs respective colour and logo on them. Clothing & Vehicle While there is existing GTAV gang logos, I redesigned them so they are unique to our server and unique to your gang. Each turf gang is able to equip these jackets exclusively, so nobody will be able to pose as anybody else. To access the gang clothing your gang rank must have the permission to do so. There is also other items of clothing in the gang lockers in each stash house (vests, jerseys, masks etc), unique and custom made for each gang, see below for some spoilers. Each gang also has access to one gang burrito with x4 seats, displaying your gang logo and colours. We hope you enjoy what you have seen so far, and the update is not that far away. Although we have shown you what are intentions here are, we are constantly working on additional things to enhance this update. While we appreciate ideas and suggestions, if we dismiss or overlook yours it may mean it's currently being developed already (which a few currently are) we don't want to ruin all of the surprises. We have worked really hard to bring the criminal side of Los Santos into it's own and we would like to thank everyone for their time and patience while this has been in development. Final Update Notes So lots of questions, queries, concerns, excitement going into this update. A lot has changed, and we expect the meta to change quite considerably. However with the meta changes and gang introduction we will be expecting a higher quality of roleplay from everyone. There will be drive by shootings etc by gangs on other gangs, it wont be the normal in public view (in front of the police etc) all the time etc but if something considerable has happened prior to that event then this is something to be expected. We want to promote gang "beef", a little bit of gang drama as it might be called. Some proper street level petty shit. If someone says something in character, we expect it to stay in character and not see 400 reports "oh he called me a shit head I'm offended etc" What happens in character stays in character. We remind you of the NLR rules, there will be mistakes, some on edge stuff - speak to eachother out of character, speak to your gang leads if you feel you have been wronged they can raise stuff in their appropriate channels. There is a few bits missing from the update and are actively being worked on - a few bits came up meaning they had to be pushed back by a few days. These include (a few more as well but they are secret for now, expect them really soon) Drug dependancies and effect NHS prescriptions and legal drugs to promote the above Rizlas and joint manufacture to promote the above Hydraulics minigame for hydraulic enabled vehicles (promoting bounce offs etc and the lowrider scene) Full weapons meta changes, and full weapon fixes Additional and new modded weapons to promote the above Vehicles have been dramatically scaled back handling wise in this update, this is the start of something much bigger however we feel it is the right move. Rather than price = speed, we are scaling back the upper end speeds of vehicles and standardising vehicles. This means, police vehicles no longer go 180+ etc, and nor do the higher end cars. We hope to see an improvement of driving as a result and from here we can then scale vehicles on an individual and better managed level from this point forward (something not possible before). Added some new vehicles that are unobtainable yet, however expect this back extremely soon. Some might see some of the new drug selling, manufacturing, and process tedious, over the top etc. We are always open to feedback in the correct places (Forum suggestions) however my original intent behind this is to promote new players to get into something and start breaking that gap of the players at the top of the server being absolute pricks to new players, so gangs and people wanting to make serious money from these new drugs and processes etc will need to look at expanding their contact base (maybe employ some drug runners, work as a team, bring in some of those new people who you would have dismissed before - Those with trust issues, check out the Wiki page by @Normanon gang permissions. You control who does what in your gang. We are open to expanding the gang system loads in the future, give us some ideas of what you would like to see!) The next updates we are working on and have started (Shops, vehicle shops, warehousing and full economy) whilst we understand current pay is low compared to some prices, expect deflation of those top end prices of stuff to start coming down.   15. Hello all as you may know John Kiff a FiveM character ,I started back in June 2020 i believe, I played has been killed off. It was my choice to kill him off as I believe I needed a change for the better. I had an amazing time and will miss the 1,000+ hours I played as him xD. John Kiff was known for many things mainly being a MASSIVE SIMP xD but I hope he was also seen as a friend. He did his fair share of crimes which includes the big bank 3 times and also the Nemours wars he has been in. He had met loads of people during his adventures and I would like to personally thank a few who was there throughout my adventures from the tough times of divorce to the fun times of street racing around LS. (The names said are their characters name and also if I didn't mention you I'm sorry just know I'm thankful for them time we had) Charles CottenEye: He was the first guy to show me the ropes of the server and was a Dad to Kiff don't ask how that came into played I don't think either of us knew it just happened xD Kev Noble: Kev was also there from day one and showed me the wealthy life of the server but also showed me how to give a good situation and always made sure if I was doing good JonJo: JonJo was also there for me no matter what was up JonJo always was there to help and even helped me get over my 11th, 12th, 13th ,well the list goes on, wife Katie Jane: Katie was almost like a big sister in the server her creative ideas which at some points seemed crazy some how always turned out to be some of the best moments in the server like selling tacos out side PD whilst I song a parody of "Wishing well" changing some lyrics to the word Taco Shepard: Oh dear what to say about Shepard.... I really do have to thanks these girls though as they always stuck by my side when i needed it and was always the ones to drag me into adventures even if it was getting our hunting levels up xD The Lost MC: I have many people to thank in the lost MC but this will drag on forever if I list each one and why but these were my first family in a way when first playing the server they guided me through my soon to be criminal path right into the arms of the Commission The Aztecas: Well it was a fun run with these lot we really became close friends even if the server hated us we knew we was always on top The Firm: Along side Archie's creative characters the firm brought a massive amount of RP fun into the server and I can wait to see where they end up in the future to come The Ballers/The other server gangs: this daily beefs will never get old and neither will the stories even though gangs went to Lasion more times than spoke in game xD it was still a pleasure to RP with you all Eddie Joe: This man had more arguments with any else in the server but this was a good thing as it gave a good RP characteristic to his GANG MEMBER LIFESTYLE and it was fun to fight beside Eddie even if it ended up to the point were im now fighting against him xD Jack Makenzie: Jack was a great leader and was an even better wing man every time Jaffa shouted at us on the radio was probably because we was hitting on girls at delivery hub and don't even deny it Jack xD Mick and Paul: These two were the first people who I helped in the server and they some how became more richer than me xD but they brought great RP into the server and was loved by many in the server I would carry on but its 0:46 and I have been writing for about an hour so sorry to those I missed out and again I thank you all epically staff for the best experience I could have asked for. is this goodbye?   17. Border Wars As suggested by @Maxim and with the communities input, I am pleased to announce that on Friday 8th January at 20:00 the first Border Wars fight will happen. This is a fully automated event, and the outcomes will decide the map layout for the following week. What happens? After the 8PM restart, the server enters the Border Wars mode, and the regular capture zones are disabled. A new set of capture zones will be activated, based on the outcome of the last Border Wars event (the initial one will be a 'neutral' state, which will be the borders as they currently are now). The Police and Poseidon will fight to control these zones, and will gain points while they have the zones under control. Each set of capture zones have a high tier point (5 points), a medium tier point (3 points) and two lower tier points (2 points). The higher tier points will be harder to hold, either since they are exposed, or since they are large military compounds with a lot of areas to hide. At the next restart, the faction with the most points will be deemed the winner, and the map will be reconfigured, with the Poseidon border either creeping forward to encompass Athira in the event of a Poseidon win, or receding in the event of a Police win. What about rebels? Rebels can capture the zones and earn money and points as usual - zones captured by rebels will deny both Poseidon or Police these points. What else changes? If the border is to Poseidon's advantage, they gain 10% more from drug payouts, conversely, if it is in the Police's favour, Poseidon gains 10% less from payouts. In addition, sites on the map like the Athira PD will change to be 'trashed' by Poseidon in the event of a Poseidon favoured border. There's LOTS of business up for grabs, in total there'll be over 55 player-managed business, across a huge range of sectors (stores, dealerships, fuel stations, pharmacies, restaurants, bars, clubs, fast food places, coffee shops, pawn shops and warehouses), which creates lots of exciting roles from owners and employees to delivery drivers and trading standards. After much consideration by the government they have told us there will be several ways that these business owners will be appointed: Some through detailed, story-line based proposals of how you can manage and run the store - Open Now!; others through high-price auctions held in the city - SoonTM; and some shops, further out of the city, may be introduced later on, to buy when you find them - SoonTM. Initially the vast majority of existing player-ran businesses are keeping their owners, but we all know shops need more life pumping into them, so the bar will definitely be set high to ensure shops are well stocked going forward. Having said all this: the council are pleased to be accepting proposals for all the remaining businesses... including dealerships! In order to put yourself and/or your team forward for this. You need to submit a proposal using this link here - containing your ideas, you and your background and how you will make the business grow. Please note proposals may be competitive so put some time and effort into perfecting your story and your startup team. Different shops will be able to order and sell different things (click here) - incorporating this information into your proposal will be important. Airdrops revamped @Ciaran Low tier loot has been removed from the airdrops, which increases the chance of higher tier loot spawning 7.62 suppressors of all colours have been added to the airdrops Airdrops now need to be bolt-cut, which takes 6 minutes, and you must remain within 10m while doing it. You can still move around / fight as normal while this is happening. Airdrops will stay around while being interacted with, rather than despawning. Only after one and a half hours will they forcefully be respawned. Interacting counts as boltcutting, or using the inventory. Boltcutters, blasting charges and defibs added to virtual inventory of drop - 10% chance for 1-3 blasting charges to spawn. I made 2 new characters for FIVEM, got married in a shotgun wedding and even managed to walk around the entire Los Santos/Great Ocean Highways. In total this community helped raise a total of £538.87. Thankyou everyone for the support and generosity.

In a year that has been a challenging one for everyone with the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic and the endless amount of lockdowns we have all had to adjust to this year, we would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. This is our 7th Christmas and no doubt the hardest yet knowing that our members have lost family members to Covid, others have lost their jobs, others have made sacrifices and some have had a year of worry and uncertainty. I could sit here and talk about the current situation with the Altis server or the successful launch of the GTA RP server or even as science freak says my pointless running update that no one has asked for or other pointless subjects I waffle on about each year. But it would not be right, right now It does not matter. It's Christmas and for at least one day this year, we should go and enjoy it with the loved ones we can see. The servers will be online tomorrow as per usual, if you cannot see family and are isolated and on your own (some of us are in Tier 4 and 3) then you are welcome to come on and game with others. The basic principle is that the money stash gains money from the illegal sale of weapons. The percent of weapon sales it receives depends on how many gang members of the gang that owns the money stash are online. The money from this is stored inside the money stash building and can be collected by any member of the gang that currently own the money stash. To take over the money stash, the opposing gang must hack both security stations inside the building and then hack the vault itself. There needs to be 5 members of the gang who owns the money stash online before it is possible to hack it, however, between 20:00 and 00:00 it can be attacked regardless. City Guides City guides is somewhere in-between a licensed job and and a whitelisted job. At the moment it is a licensed job but the license is not purchasable by the general public and will be given to people manually instead. The purpose of City Guides is to act as a new roleplay job with a focus on showing people around the island and providing "roleplay for the sake of roleplay". It is likely to start off by having strong links to the Sherpa scheme. However, we are not strictly limiting it to Sherpa members and people who believe they would suit a position in this pilot scheme should message myself or @Gordon. For the time being city guides have an SDV, an MB 4WD and a uniform, more information on the rules of City Guides will be published shortly if not already. Run Price Changes Obviously as of today there has been a complete overhaul to the way run prices are calculated, while this is hopefully a step in the right direction, I am aware it is likely not going to be perfect the first time. Please be patient and refrain from non-constructive posts on the forums. Rest assured I am not going to just go "they've had a run rework for this year, I'll look again in 2022". However, constructive criticism and suggestions are still very much desired and should be done through the usual means.

  29. Ill chip in my 2 cents here from a staff and long term arma/fiveM player. From the staff POV, obviously everyone knows we try to do what we can and be there when people need us and be FAIR. Fair does not always go the way people want it too and yes, pisses people off sometimes. Sometimes we come across as dicks or harsh on unban appeals and such but all the issues you face in game and on forums WE have to deal with. Everyone gets tired of having to say JUST ROLEPLAY. Yes, start of arma things were nice, staff did not have to intervene much and for the most part things did just run. However now, were in a different world. Everyone is a Karen, everyone wants to speak to the manager and nobody wants to be wrong. But in this community, its the staffs way and thats regulated to be fair in all cases. A lot of new people have come from other communities where they have not been running for 7 years and they have no idea how under the thumb we all are as staff to maintain fairness. This also goes for devs, they do what they do the best they can and they play the server a lot too, they want to create fun things for all. Which is why im glad this is called the state of RP. Roleplay is the thing we all should be here for and try to provide, i know i myself banged on about high quality roleplay in Arma and i was not staff then, far from it. But that wasnt roleplay back then, we just wanted to kill shit and do enough roleplay to be able to do so which i can admit now. I would hate for this to go that way also. The state of roleplay is NOT something that is fixed by any dev/staff intervention. Everyone always says "give us more criminal stuff to do" "we need more content" but roleplay is exactly what you make it. Nobody is playing a character here. There are a few that are worth mentioning: Buk Ling (Drew) - He streams this character, yes he breaks the law he is a dodgy taxi man and gets into trouble and when he does he owns it and makes the interaction fun for all. Yes, obvisuly he is staff and he can roleplay very well and some people dont want to dedicate so much into there character. BUT we all can take some aspects of character roleplay on board. Father Augustus - Obviously we all know the father, when he first came into the city i tried to get him selling guns in his church and he was having none of it. He was solely here for the roleplay of the father. This led him to be a leader of people and in the end a leader of the Apostles. Now, im sure he could agree that the weight of that group was almost only on his shoulders. The general players all the people below him looked up to him and if he was on, more of them were on which is normal. What im saying is people need characters and i know to this day the father tries his best to NOT follow this shit meta of 'someone looks at you funny, kill dump' which we can only commend and this is what is needed from a group leader. Shephard - Im not going to say much here but from my POV from knowing him. Every character was roleplayed well and he tried his best to make each experience a good laugh for all. Regardless. Im sure there are others but ill stop there. So that then leads me onto the gangs.. where i could rant about this for days but ill try keep it short. They dont make sense to me. At all. The gangs started with a clear vision and set enemies and such but now... have become massive groups of friends that interbreed and marry one and other. I think A LOT of the roleplay on the server now falls on the heads of the gang leaders, i think they are the ones that should be looking and reading this critisism about the gangs and trying to do what they can to change the gang in a better way. They have the means to do so and if they dont, they shouldnt be leading the gang. Street gangs as far as i see should be defending there turf, half of them just knock about doing whatever and you dont see them on that turf. If im a random civ walking down the street of grove i should be questioned who the hell i am and why im on there block. The police should feel intimidated to go to these gang turfs and attempt to stop the people dealing and the gangs should be the ones supplying and protecting there block. Which we only see when its one of there people being arrested. What about the people who pay tax? they paying it just to let police sit in your alley and you watch them get arrested and do nothing. Im all for gangs beefing and like i said earlier the gangs dont do it, little beefs here and there but it should be good long standing beefs that leave people on edge. You should in theory not like any other gang and as far as im concerned the friendships/marrages that go from one gang to the next are fucking stupid. A blood and a crip aint gonna be friends in no world. Point blank. I do not think that the gang system in my opinion is working as intended and all i see it as right now is a just a stepping stone to go from average civ to "gangster" a gangster who calls the police, snitches and calls to liaison as soon as something does not go there way. I HATE how when one gang and another have a dispute suddenly EVERY other gang needs to come and chip in because the person something happened too is someones distant cousin and its some other gangs mom or sister who is married to jon from the ballas and is the stepson of a vagos member. IMO gangs need to be stricter, gang leaders need to be the ones there to put things into place and come up with ROLEPLAY scenarios that could end good or bad for that gang and just roll with it. @Qrow(John Pope - Ex lost MC President) used to do this, we used to fucking hate it sometimes because he would go off on his own, fuck something up on purpose (ooc) then we all have to deal with it in game. BUT what he was doing was creating RP scenarios. Ultimately, in doing that we had a lot of trouble BUT it got the Lost MC active and doing things again because there was things to do. Thats what all leaders i think should be doing. Im not saying these things here to bash gangs or any leaders im just saying you are gang leader and have been chosen because you have been deemed capable of controllling the direction of YOUR gang in all aspects. The only reason that the state of RP is being spoken about as a server wide issue is because everyone and every gang are so interlinked. If triads were providing shit RP consistently it would be very easy to deal with from a staff POV if all the other gangs were acting different and doing there own thing. BUT as it stands, if triads are then ballas are most likely with them acting the same then Mara might be allied and involved again. Thats my point. I would just love gang leaders to even OOC arrange things with other gang leaders OUT of game to direct a roleplay story in a certain way and see how it plays out. One side will win, one will lose. Im not saying use OOC to come up with storylines to fake it in RP at all here either, just lets try to do something. The people in gangs day to day would probably be almost half the server. Police are always held accountable and are ALWAYS bashed if they are too harsh or not. This will always be the case but if your breaking the law, your breaking the law. Yes in arma if you were seen doing something you could fabricate some bullshit story and if the cop liked it, yes he would let you go with your MK1 on your back haha. BUT FiveM is a whole different ball game, they are there to RP and if your RP is criminal they will fuck you for it. In arma, people didnt want to spend the 30 mins processing you, RPing and sending you jail because nobody really cared. They just wanted to get to the next panic haha. Here, they are almost forced into it and rightly so. (not all cases, we all know trojan will let you off with anything for a panic but thats there job ay) NHS tend to be and always have been the best roleplayers you can expect. People join with that intention and thats why you hardly ever see them. Its not cool enough to be a medic, is it 'fam' Overall, staff always try to police and point the server in the best quality roleplay but we cant control peoples anger and ego at other players. Its YOU reading this that needs to change. Allow yourself to lose, allow yourself to have fun and most importantly try to make it fun for the other person involved. If you dont like that person in character still make it fun, if you dont like that person OOC then grow up. Avoid them but if you do have to deal with them in RP put it aside. Everyone is here to try spend some time having a laugh, not every situation will go the way you think it will but just try have a good time anyway. Been a while since i wrote a big post. Im out

  30. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here are some messages from the Management, Development & Staff Teams TinyBigJacko Well, what a long, strange trip it's been. I'm sure many of us will be glad to see the back of 2021 and are hoping that 2022 will be better, and see an end to this crazy state of world affairs, pandemics, isolation, lockdowns, jabs and (for some of us) loss and heartbreak of absent, sometimes even deceased friends, parents, relatives. It has, without doubt, been a tough year for some, and my heart goes out to you, if you're one of those who have suffered. But it's true to say that every cloud has a silver lining, and for many of us, we've made new friends this year too - sometimes as a direct result of having more time being stuck at our PCs, and needing the comfort and excitement of shared experiences, fun and togetherness. And even though they may be virtual experiences, the friends we make are real. Some will still be our friends in years to come (I've lost count of how many people I'm lucky enough to call friend, as a direct result of my nearly eight years in this community). Others may come and go, and we may not meet them again for many years, or perhaps never at all, as our tastes in games change, and as people move between communities. But still, the shared experiences, the fun, the laughs, the excitement, even the grief and the arguments sometimes, are all a vibrant part of sharing these crazy times, this crazy community, and these wonderful (crazy?) people and friends, as we cling on to those moments of joy and ride the roller-coaster together. We said goodbye to Wilco this year (though I know he is watching from the sidelines and living his best life, wishing us all well - stay safe fella, and be happy! You've earned it). Some of us had Covid and suffered quite badly (I won't name names, but we're rooting for them, and they know it); others of it narrowly escaped and are just about still hanging in there, happy that we made it through, with the support of our pals (thanks people; you know who you are!) We also said a fond farewell to ARMA/AltisLife this year, which was a wrench for many of us, but sadly, had to be. The chapter may be closed, but the book is never fully written, so who knows what the future might one day bring? I hope you all had a joyful Christmas this year, if you celebrate it - and if you don't, I hope you had a joyful time with family and friends just the same. Tonight is the dawn of a New Year, and I hope we can look forward to more of the good things, as we march into next year, I want to say a huge thank you to all the people who matter: To our Staff - you come in for so much flak, almost all of it nonsense and bitter spite from naughty people who've simply been caught.   32. I mean i don't know where to start from... Maybe its only me maybe its the whole community feels like but no one has the balls to point it out.. But when i join the community in 2014 i saw a community that has a common interest of having Fun. Thru stories/scenario's that our brain brings us to.. There was a lot of positive people that made that experience something special , there's always idiots around and they probably always will be there But overall the community was amazing it was a pleasure to join the server (AltisLife) and experience while try and think about various scenario's to enhance RP to another level Joining whitelisted groups was something that took you time because you had to be in certain level and had certain skills to do your job in the best way the same was in NHS and UNMC even the big and and respected gang's had a high standard for their RP Mistakes was always around but we tried to minimize them and make from them something we could learn so next time it wouldn't happen The management team and the dev team we have in this community is amazing always looks forward to enhance the experience of us being able to enjoy and make funny stories to remember years to come. Overall the best community in EU that i ever being part of.. Nothing bad to say. A week ago i've visited the Roleplay.co.uk website and saw that Arma server was shutdown and now there's new era of GTA RP I was excited because in arma we always was lacking that GTA aspect of the game that brought more realism for the RP new look better FPS (LOL arma struggle) I was hyped to try the server - i have sat down to write a character with some history and was so hyped to start playing did check the rules to see if something changed something new brought in - checked all the features place's i can visit and was eager to start playing When i first joined the server i understood that there's more secret stuff that you need to discover thru RP and that made it even more crazy for me.. Not everything marked on the map you need to search discover ask and mostly RP your way to the secret aspects of the server. But the past week that i was playing i can say that only 2 RP interactions was Fun / Immersive interactions I was RDM'd 4 times VDM'd at least 6 times Robbed by individuals that haven't really left me any RP exit to try and make it fun try and make more of it that getting robbed and thrown on the side of the road or even being stashed in bushes The same with the police 4 interaction with police that brought me to a frustration - you cannot fake id because the always will use PNC you cannot come with scenario that could lead you to an exit of their typical scripted RP Its always ends up you being shot or combat restrained and of-course being detained How my motivation to bring cool and interesting RP scenario's could be there if i already know the consequences its always the same result no matter what scenario's you'll try come with .. I mean this community saw a better times and i dont know where its lost but what i can say is that from my perspective - that isn't fun when you know what will be the result every fucking time.. If i would not care i would not stop my life just to write here a huge story about how im frustrated maybe its just me or maybe its something that no one really cares to talk about , that's why im opening this topic so we can talk about it and clear it out. I don't really have suggestions atm i've just join the server kinda so this really come from the bottom of my heart and i wasn't talking about the ooc shit that people talk into the mic Breaking RP on daily basis , talking other language's between them while the other hear that , Poor RP initiations or initiations that never was heard by the other side , if it was 2 to 5 people that is doing that , that topic would never being posted or written , this just my point of view i had to put it on paper to see what the community thinks of it. the only positive experience i had is from NHS that really trying to come with cool scenario's and impressed me in one of our incidents and again i know there is 20-30% that really trying and doing it really good but 30 percent not defines the big chunk of the community that play as it was a shooting game / deathmatch game killing the immersion and the will to RP cool scenario's Lets see what you guys have to say im really curious about it. (Took nap time in prison to write this because it was on my heart and i had to spill it) Had to put some funny video of the good old days XD Just to break the tension of this thread

  33. The Dawn of Dagos What was left of Dagos remains no more……or so you would think. In-between cleaning tables and lifting heavy bars, Movin Dagos meticulously arranged his thoughts. He started devising a scheme to start recuperating even before he was ready to leave the slammer’s walls. As such, through numerous visitations and prison phone calls, he created a Cartel network from within the prison, setting himself up for the path to greatness once again. Upon release from prison and in the midst of Los Santos chaos, Movin and his older brother Mark, came together to build the foundations for their organization. The name ‘Dagos Cartel’ rang through the city streets, creating menace for some, yet prosperity and hope for others. Fascinated by the opportunities presented in the city, the brothers had one goal in mind: to breakthrough and make it big as an organization. Through rapidly establishing themselves within the drug and gun trade of Los Santos, alongside focusing on forming tight relations with other gangs and communities, Dagos Cartel began to thrive. In order to aid the expansion of the Cartel, a sister organization was created: Titan. With aims to provide new arrivals with a helping hand, as well as issuing mining jobs to fulfil, Titan became a legal forefront for Dagos Cartel. Establishing ourselves In the wake of countless mining and smelting runs, the need for finding a place to call home grew day by day. This necessity led to the uncovering of an abandoned warehouse south east of Los Santos - in the heart of the city’s industrial area. With a new base of operations now established, Titan has expanded its reach to the outskirts of the city while also developing a place to call their own. Titan’s Ascent Titan - an organization that would carry on the Dagos legacy, initially through legal means, specializing in both the mining and smelting industries of Los Santos. However, due to rising conflicts throughout the city, Titan has decided to reignite its former Dagos principles. This brings us to the present day; having made both friends and foes alike, what is now known as ‘Titan’ has taken upon the goal to leave their mark in Los Santos for good; whether that be a blessing or a curse.

  35. I suppose this could be construed as a very long-winded suggestion, so my apologies to the powers-that-be if this is in the wrong place. If needs be I’m more than happy for it to be moved to the suggestions forum and to arrange it into a suggestion format (pros and cons, brief and detailed suggestions, etc). Apologies for another essay, I know I have a habit of writing these indecently long posts, but I've just got a lot of ideas and it seems like now more than ever we need all the inspiration we can get. Anyway: here I present to the people of RPUK, my grand vision of Altis 2.0. In my view, the reset has to be more than just wiping the player's bank accounts. We need to approach this as a fresh start entirely, starting with the basics and then building up and adding new things as/when we need to. It's worth mentioning that I am not a developer. I don't believe anything I am proposing here would be particularly difficult to do, but I know nothing about coding or developing, so I can't say for sure. 1. Money Runs Detailed version of this suggestion can be found here. But, as a tldr: I’ve got three legal, three illegal runs, all of them are different distances. There are two drug dealers, one in Kavala and one in Pygros. The payouts of each run are determined by the distance covered in the run and the risk (illegal runs pay more, and there is a bonus for selling at Kavala drug dealer instead of Pygros). Having too many runs spreads players out too much; by having less runs, we are increasing the chance of players running into each other, which is only a good thing. The more interactions players are having with each other, the better. These runs are simple. Field > processor > seller. There is no point in complicating money runs; they are boring by nature, and giving certain things certain names does little to change that. 2. The Map We want players to find each other easily. To accomplish this, we are going to completely debalance the map. We’re gonna have massive portions of the map being completely unused and completely empty. To use Kavala as an example: the DVLA and the car shop are going to be moved into Kavala square and the bank is going to be moved to just outside the square. Kavala high street is going to be busy as fuck, the rest of Kavala is going to be empty. We’re gonna move the prison back to Athira and we’re gonna move all the shops and the bank in Athira all down the same street to create a highstreet. For my example of a reworked Kavala, see here. 3. Balancing Roleplay and Gunfights The past couple of years there has been a lot of talk about RPUK becoming more gunfight-oriented, and that RP had taken a backseat. With the addition of zones and the prominence of PVP moneymaking, it's clear that this is the case. RP and gunfights are often talked about as though it's a case of one or the other, but I don't believe that has to be the case. I think we can have both. 3a: Zones: The zones have to go. We have to provide a platform that allows for gunfights, but not in a way that encourages it as a primary playstyle. At present, the zones are a weak excuse for players to go to a certain location and wait for someone to show up to fight. Everything that happens on the server- including gunfights- needs to suplement a storyline. 3b: Gangbases: My solution to the zones is a new gangbase system. This is perhaps something that should be added later on if/when the numbers go up, as I don't believe there will be a place for this early doors. There are only a limited number of bases, and each base offers a unique perk (i.e. you can only buy this particular gun from this particular base). Gangs capture the base by having enough players and enough money to do so. Rival gangs who want to take the base will approach the occupying gang in initiation/negotiations, where they may come to an agreement (i.e. an exchange of funds) or they may initiate a gunfight. But if it's going to be a gunfight, there must be initiation. These gangbases will not be redzones. Taking bases from other gangs will also require a certain percentage of the occuping gang's members to be online. 3c: Heists: When robbing the HM Treasury and doing similiar heists, there are two ways to access the goods: by force, such as using a blasting charge or codebreaker or whatever the equivelant is; or having a police officer open the vault for you. If you open the vault by force, you will face a penalty (there will be less inside the vault or something like that). Players who roleplay their way into the vault and have a police officer open it for them will earn more money from a heist. Those who choose to talk their way through heists rather than shoot through them will be rewarded. 3d: Firearms: The Zaros handgun store will be moved closer to Kavala. Personally, I liked it when it was on Kore Bend like it was back in 2015. In terms of rifles, we'll have two shops: one for lower calibre (6.5 and below) and one for higher calibre (above 6.5mm). Both require seperate licences. These should be out of the way elsewhere on the map. 4. Police, Poseidon & Plot My vision here is to create a dynamic world that changes based on what happens within it. Beforehand, Altis has been static. Poseidon can push the border forward a little bit, and the police can push it back, but aside from that, nothing really has any consequences. 4a: Border Wars: I think Border Wars should stay, but it needs to be more consequential. The server needs to be more reactive to the overarching story, and factions need to be willing to adapt to their role within the story, even if it comes at a price of power and territory. The Poseidon border should start at Telos. For every Poseidon victory, the border moves west. For every police victory, it moves east. There is no limit to how far the border can go; if Poseidon win every week, they can eventually reach and conquer Kavala. What will that mean for the police? Well, until they get a chance to fight again the next week, they will have to go incognito as civillians, and the police leaders will become fugitives and hunted (sounds like a very fun server event if you ask me, playing hide and seek with the police bosses). 4b: Events: We will host events that directly affect the storyline of the server. Debates between mayoral candidates. Public trials of notorious criminals, where if found guilty they will become fugitives. Protests against police bosses, that can result in them being exiled from their position until they win it back. The list goes on and on, the events would keep rolling and rolling, and the storyline would continually develop. The possibilites are endless. 4c: Faction Hierachy: I believe it was @Normanthat suggested that faction leaders should have term limits, and I'd agree with that. How long it would be is open to discussion, but I do feel there needs to be a limit. I would also say that as of the wipe, a lot of ranks need to be removed, as we simply don't have the players at the moment to fill most of them. The ranking structures need to be simplified, and we can add more ranks as and when we need to. -------- With enough advertisment of the wipe and a willingness to implement new ideas, I think we have a chance of reviving Altis. But Management need to be all in on this. We can't have this half arsed thing where Altis just exists on the side while FiveM is the focus. I understand FiveM is the fresh new thing and it's the platform that is generating the most amount of buzz. I know that Altis has had its day and that it can't ever compete with FiveM. But we can still have a succesful Altis server. Other places are still doing it, and the simple truth is that for most of the last seven years, we have done it better than anyone else. We can get back to that. -------- TLDR: - Less money runs, and run payouts are calculated by distance and risk. - Map is compressed so that there's more stuff in popular areas, so that players are always nearby each other. - Zones need to go, I have made an alternative suggestion involving gangbases. Heists such as HM Treasury can be done by gunfight or roleplay, people who choose roleplay will earn more money. - The last one is kind of difficult to summarise- if you only read one of the sections, please make it section 4. - Management need to break out of their FiveM tunnel vision and recognise that Altis can still have a place in RPUK.

  40. Hello everyone! What a few weeks its been! Server is hella busy, tickets everywhere, staff interviews and even real life! But now, we are at a point with two major announcements! For his incredible dedication to the staff team and his willingness to help @Bowenhave been invited to join the Staff Leads Team as the number 4! This will for sure be an incredible addition to the team because it will benefit not only us and the staff team, but the community. It means we can do more, quicker. So, big warm welcome to @Bowento the "top" brass and we wish him good luck. ONWARDS During this latest application and staff interview stage we realized that the quality of the people applying was quite high. After a bit of back and forth we came to the conclusion that a big intake is really the only sensible thing. We landed on 12 new staff members. This is to date our biggest intake ever.   41. So, as we all know, Altis Life RPUK is dead. I think personally we need another community meeting to discuss what we can do to bring this server back to life, maybe back to above 100 players if possible. I really don't wanna see this server go. It has the potential to be a really good server for people. At this exact moment Arma has 4 players and GTA RP has 187 players. Is there a chance we can get another community meeting going to discuss issues and attempt to fix this?

(It's not added to all interiors yet) Shouting, Normal, Whisper actually affects how loud the voice is. and more (keep in mind some of our custom interiors do not yet fully support all these features, but we are adding them in one by one) Talking over radio now has a noise effect added. Which is really helpful not just to make it more realistic but to know if the person talking is near you or not. It was later discovered that the new audio system by fivem is really broken, so it will be reverted for now New FiveM Netcode: Long story short this will improve the server performance by going grid based with all the entities. Meaning all clients only have data about other players in the same grid they are in. Hair color / tattoos / beard / skin syncing issues should be fixed. There are loads more things that this will affect which might also bring with it its quirks and bugs. Please report them as usual. FPS improvements for everyone! Dedicated Testing: We are going to be looking for a handfull of people to assist us in getting updates ready and making sure everything is in order. (and yes you will get a TS tag) More info on this will follow shortly. If you are interested keep an eye on the forums for Stealthee's post. Final notes: Please report any bugs you find after this update. There are a bunch of big changes but they are heavily needed for server performance and the only way we can see the effects is with a lot of players on, so bear with us while we work on the server issues. Native audio supports loads of things which you will notice on the server. These include: Improved 'surround sound' - allowing you to position players Occlusion - Sound will no longer pass through walls and doors. Muffled speech can be heard through doors and windows etc. Reverb - Echoes in rooms and areas. The custom interiors currently don't support these new features and we are working on getting these sorted so whilst inside custom interiors it will sound like it did before. Please do post suggestions if you believe certain areas sound odd. Also hello again from me Wheel As you will see when you join the server the wheel menu has been cleaned up for you all so its more universal. I have changed the way menus react to what you have the ability to do, for example if you walk near someone you will have the ability to carry them as that option will appear under the Interactions Menu. Everyone will start with this menu - Like I explained above dependent on your job etc it will defer on what you will see when you are close to people or locations. This is designed to help you all get around the menu easier. Example of what you will see under the interactions menu at the Prison front desk - Phone The phone has been received a bit of a redesign and some initial cleanup. A bunch of issues have been fixed with it and general usability has been greatly improved. Such as adding contacts from recents, closing context menus no longer backing out to the main screen etc. Ringtones are now working, and there is new skins. A stock market has been added and will contain prices of job items. The plan is for all job items to have a fluxuating price, and a starting price. If many players sell eg gold ingots the price of it will go down. When only a few people sell it the price will go up again after some time (even over the starting price). It will keep people doing what's worth their time. Since that system isn't in place yet we are just showing all ingame items. More apps are coming soon, such as a key chain app and a "where is my vehicle" app showing you at which garage your vehicles are parked at, or if they are impounded.   44. There's much more to the issues apparent than just what Dan has listed. You could probably get an entire essay's worth of content from what is going on, and these issues have been an ongoing thing for years. I'm going to raise 2 issues I can observe that I believe has contributed to the problem 1. Management 2. Development direction Management At risk of being banned, I am trying to be as constructively critical as I can. Which leads to the first point I will make, I shouldn't have to type the above in order to make a criticism. Ultimately, the direction the server goes in and the decisions made to facilitate that vision are down to the Management team, they are accountable for this. If you look at the current team, it can be easy to see where things are arguably going wrong. These are; The general activity of the team The actions taken when present The viewpoint on current affairs Let's be honest, activity of the management team is less than desirable. I could go into each member individually but I don't feel this is an appropriate forum to do so. But I could easily state that management, in it's current form are not active enough to make tailored decisions about the climate of the server. I would suggest the current management facilitated a more "honourary" role whereby those who are inactive can still have their presence on the team, but are out of the limelight for decision making processes, allowing longstanding members of the community to make decisions in the interests of the community. In regards to decision-making, it's been blatantly obvious from when management are active and show their face, drama or issues come with it. Where due to their position they refuse to work with faction leads or go on to argue with members of the community and then rebut any wrong doing in their approach or demeanor. Which in the following week, they will disappear to do it all over again the following week. During my tenure as a member of Police Command on Altis during 2017-2019, I experienced a lot of this first hand, where a one sided, out of context viewpoint around a topic was presented to us and instead of understanding the factors leading to that occurrence, we were met with an almost dictator like "deal with it or you're gone" approach. I cannot comment on the current status of how faction leads are dealt with, but that was certainly my experience. It is clear to see that with a server declining as this one is, a team of people is needed to revive it, rather than facilitate a role that isn't being used and watch the ship sink. These people would be members of the community with a clear will to improve the status and those who have an objective approach to resolving it. Development Direction Before I address this, I want to make it clear I do not think our developers are not good at their role. I value the work they have done. This is not a dig at the development team, but is a criticism of changes that have occurred. However, if you look at recent changes, you can easily argue that the direction of the server is going towards a more gunfight orientated climate. Before I continue, I love a gunfight, back in the day where AR and the UNMC or large gangs would go at it for pride and general enjoyment. It was a lot of fun and I made good friends and memories through it. However back then, incidents occurred as a result of a proper interaction with the opposition, whether that was a dispute over drugs (TCK, LCN), land or the politics of the server (UNMC, Poseidon). Before I stopped playing, gunfights were made thanks to red-zones and an economy that promoted a "I don't care about my gear, I've got 100 million in the bank". This is more prevalent now as there are actual leaderboards for being top fraggers, something that if you said in 2017 would be a thing, the majority of people would laugh at you. Having changes such as removal of weapon sway, introduction of redzones and leaderboards and as of recent, an attack helicopter. Promotes this gunfight style of server, so by spending thousands of pounds on a domain that doesn't reflect what this place is now seems ironic. I'm not entirely sure what more I can put into this but I have tried to do so in a manner that is constructive and open to response.

  46. Right, let's keep this short and to the point. There has been some confusion about what has happened to the Vagos and why it led to life imprisonment for everyone.In the past there have been life sentences issued to gangs, groups or individuals that had pushed their luck in roleplay to the point of obtaining a virtual wanted level that could only be met with a life sentence. This would be inline with rule G5.6 Wanted level. To make things perfectly clear: This situation IS NOTHING LIKE THAT. The reasoning for the sentence was completely based on OOC events. This is why it might have seemed out of place and confusing within roleplay. The decision to issue the life sentence was based on a few factors. A pattern of bad roleplay and consistent rulebreaks became increasingly apparent and moreover, over the last few months there has been an increasing amount of bans and warnings issued to members of the Vagos. In total the 29 members of the Vagos Gang have already gathered up a collection of 20 bans and 25 warnings, with potentially more to still follow from outstanding reports etc. Another large contributing factor was the leader getting banned and the lack of a suitable replacement with a clean record who could take the spot of a whitelisted gang leader. Adding to that there was an increasing amount of suspicion that there were more members duping and exploiting. These suspicions were confirmed a few nights ago when roughly a third of vagos were caught in the act. Previously in situations like this the protocol would have been a blanket permanent ban of all members in the gang and then an investigation to figure out who is innocent and can be unbanned. This would allow for the Management, Staff & Development teams to essentially freeze all the assets in the meantime. Luckily with FiveM, we have the ability to go down this route of a life sentence thereby only freezing one character. This allows people to continue roleplaying on other characters or even the same character, albeit under somewhat forced circumstances. Lastly, Though it is called a life sentence. It does not need to be the end for your characters. There are possibilities for you to get out of prison (bear in mind escape is not one of them). There will be court appeals possible at a later date, however not everyone will be awarded the opportunity to appeal. It will be awarded to those that prove themselves in roleplay in the prison. Ban / Warnings records will also play some part in the decisions. I know it isn't an ideal scenario roleplay-wise as some of the characters may not deserve to be in prison in roleplay. Be creative in filling up the gaps, it will go a long way in your case.

We have gone through the first round of interviews and now finally accepted our new members of staff! About 1 month ago we had our Discord Support Tickets system put in, and since then we have dealt with 650 support tickets. This is insane and really fun. What comes next?
