  1. Date / Time: 18:00 25/11/2023 Release: What an era Yikes... This one cuts pretty deep NGL. "End of an era" is a term that jumps to mind. As everyone has probably heard by now, @Archieand @Painthave decided to step away from the Development Team and from the RPUK Community as a whole. There is much to be said, and far more than I can cover in one soppy post on a forum that barely anyone will read, so I will keep it short. The amount of work that Archie and Paint have put into this community is absolutely gigantic and unforgettable. Whether it was writing new code, optimizing old code, fixing bugs, dealing with factions, managing the meta, thinking of new features and keeping the groups, gangs and everyone else happy by doing whatever they could to keep the community engaged. I don't think the average player will understand that for ever hour of work they think they seen of them there is probably somewhere between 15-20 hours behind the scenes that you haven't seen or that you might think just magically happens. Sometimes it wasn't even actual work but just endless hours of talking with people to figure out what to community needed or try to convince others of what needed to happen. If I think back over the last few years and how the server was then compared to now. Though they weren't the only developers and team, if I think of all the massive features and quality of life improvements and just overall progression of the server, I can see a lot of is was heavily contributed to and steered by both of them and even though (only) two devs are leaving it feels more like six or seven. (Paint is still about as useless as 0.75 a dev in this equation) It has been a genuine pleasure working with both of you (Paint slightly less than Archie though) even though there were times where we didn't see completely eye to eye, I think I can say that for the large majority we had a great time and built some amazing things. RPUK will not be the same without you guys and I think everyone here is going to miss you guys and your dedication tremendously. I want to do the same thing I did when Stealthee left and give them a reminder of how many people they have engaged and served with in the last 3 years: If you want to say thank you to Archie and Paint for their hard work and dedication, I ask that you tag them on discord in #gta-fivem-roleplay with a quick "Thank You for Everything". I expect them to have a send-off that makes them want to uninstall discord, but BE SENSIBLE: 1 tag per person is more than enough and it ends tonight at 00:00. And o yeah, there were some changes to the server. After months and months of planning last night was one of Bingle's biggest days ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone involved ❤️ if it wasn't for the help of you guys none of this would of been possible I also want to say thank you to @Mikefor the help turning off the lights and making sure the fire spread 😄 I also want to say a thank you to everyone in the police, the general consensus I have gotten from ppl ooc about the event it was very chaotic and fun ^-^ should of taken the home office warning more seriously 😉 when I say we have been planning this for months I do truly mean it :P. we initially thought of the idea operation blackout in April of this year but we didn't have a good enough reason to go balls to the walls with this plan until Bingle was branded a terrorist org in late August, we also lacked the connections needed to gather intel on how to do blackout Just before getting taken off remand Bingle kicked this idea of operation blackout again and we also wanted payback for being shoved on remand just after members of Bingle broke out of HMP for the last time we all started to get to work on planning blackout while we where still on the run Bingle approached many groups about blackout the first group Bingle approached said "Are you on crack?!" and declined to help Bingle not detured by this Bingle approached 2 other groups and they agreed to help with the planning and execution of blackout (due to this being an on going story I will not name what groups helped Bingle, Find out in RP) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Operation blackout went down as a massive success with all of Bingle's goals being met with overwhelming success - all speed cameras cut (although cops got them all up very fast) - all Police stations Successfully torched - All Cell towers Taken offline at least once - Power taken down for over 45min - Zero Bingle members arrested.... YET XD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- after the events of blackout Bingle hit the local bars and started to party a successful mission, many officers approached Bingle and even had chats with members but didn't do anything due to them not having any evidence that those members specifically where involved (we know we are going to get snatch and grabbed eventually for the events of last night hahahaha) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are excited to see what comes of last nights events and we cant wait to cause more terror in the coming months ;), just want to give another massive thank you to everyone involved ❤️ non of this would of been possible without you guys -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  4. TLDR: Take breaks, burnout is real, it's ok to do other stuff, virtual and real life moves on with or without us. I'd like to throw my opinion out there, not that it's worth much. Each community has its own unique culture, and the games those communities play also influence that culture. This community is pretty old, it's been over 8 years since I joined it when a Canadian Altis Life community I played on collapsed due to mismanagement and a few of us jumped over to RPUK (ALUK for you old heads). Now, I've preached life cycles for communities for years and I think this community has seen its fair share and is currently in the midst of one. The same thing that plagued the Arma 3 RP'ers is Plaguing the FiveM RPer's (Some of which are the same people). Burnout. People are playing for the sake of playing, someone said it's like they're using it more like VRChat or a Discord Call, which I can see why. They've invested so much time into the city and so have their friends and due to a sort of gravitational effect they all just congregate on the server every night together. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, what is bad is that people aren't recognizing when they need to break off and go do other things. Burnout is real, it affects everyone. To deny this is to deny human nature. The life cycle I spoke about earlier is a little apparent to me as we are in the middle of a development hump as Dev's get ready to push out more things in the future, but it's never fast enough or enough content to keep some people satisfied for long. Generally during the process you start seeing more and more posts on the forums about overpowered factions (Looking at you AR, Poseidon, UNMC, Kavala Baldies) and the tit for tat reports and complaints between the groups. None of this is new or original, most of us have been here before. Multiple times. Now the "Playing to lose" concept. I don't dislike it, but it relies on everyone having the same mentality which is impossible because humans are finicky. Every situation has a winner and loser. Now you can be a Winning Loser and a Losing Winner, but at the end of the day there is always a Victor and a Loser. The ultimate goal of all parties is to ensure everyone in a situation ends up as a Winner, but that's all but impossible most of the time. It's hard to find a balance between realism, game, and the imagination. I hope this brings solace to some people knowing the people at the top of the Staff Hierarchy have witnessed these things occurring time and time again, I am reluctant to call them problems but without problems there's no reason to have discussions and change things. So, at the end of the day, everything even some of the more advanced drama surrounding stuff can be beneficial. There has always been and always will be a better path forward, and I encourage any new and old player alike who's struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel to just take a break. I took a 7-year break from seriously roleplaying, it's ok. Sometimes those breaks last forever, that's ok too. No one can ever take the memories away of all the friends and experiences you made along the way.

First of all I want to say I love this server and everyone in it, I've been here around a month and having a great time, I have been a bit of a veteran in the roleplay space starting around 15 years ago in Half Life 2 Roleplay. There are some amazing roleplayers on this server, you know who you are so this post is not blankly applying to everyone, in-fact the chances are the people im talking about don't really even come on the forums, Back in Half Life 2 roleplay days we had the concept of Playing to lose, which was the idea that your character should always take the most interesting story path even if this means they lose in game, you shouldn't play to constantly win in every situation as it becomes boring for all parties involved. For me Roleplay is about creating interesting storylines and stories despite the outcome for your individual character, the more interesting the story the more you have suceeded in creating a good experience for yourself and others around you, even if this means your character must die or lose if that makes for a more interesting story I will always follow this path. However, I have found that quite a few people see roleplay more as an RPG where you have to progress and get more and more money and status and will sacrifice good story lines in favour of reaching this goal, an example is sometimes its possible without even realising it to use out of character bias to keep your character safe, for example you know from reading forums or just being around about certain groups or gangs that your character doesn't know, so you steer clear of them or are overly street wise when they are trying to trick you leading to missing out on a roleplay oppurtunity which is interesting but obviously your character would lose if you partake, I notice a lot of people just focus on basic crime, muggings, stabbings, selling drugs etc and will happily kill anyone involved if it allows them to progress and become richer, and then use the character backstory of "well my character is a deranged egotistical maniac" in my opinion this is just plain bad roleplay, like in a hollywood drama if a character was just this they would be a very two dimensional boring character, where-as you look at great series like Breaking Bad and you see how Walter White slowly develops into an evil person, but even in his final state he wouldn't randomlly kill someone to progress his wealth or character, everything he does is either in revenge, for his family or to protect someone, but later we learn he enjoys this, this creates an interesting character. Character development is important and like a good story, characters should have some type of motivation to what they do and how they react in certain situations, someone who goes around stabbing everyone which obviously a lot of the time helps progress your in game situation is not as interesting as a character who is genuinely afraid of interacting with gangs and groups. Working with other players to create interesting narratives is interesting, too many times people go to murder or death as a way to progress their characters despite destroying another characters storyline, where-as people should embrace these story lines to see where they go and they will find they get into much more interesting situations. In the Arma days and the early FiveM days, some of you were lucky enough to have interacted with him and I'm sure you'll remember as he was a funny fucker. Thank you to this community for providing a platform where he enjoyed playing and creating memories I will remember forever, even when you banned him for being underage. RIP Cee Kay

Teams of 3 to 4. Only mechanics can repair cars, racers must call their mechanic to repair the car if the car breaks down. Fingerprints are now different. When the police fingerprint you, they are no longer getting your name and citizen ID; they now get your Fingerprint Identifier. This fingerprint identifier can be used on the PNC to write reports, add notes, and add markers, very similar to your Citizen ID PNC profile. However, your fingerprint will never automatically link to your Citizen ID. The police are required to put in the work to try and find out WHO that fingerprint links to. They can link them on the PNC, and warrants will then link between your fingerprints and citizen ID profile, but these links are always assumed, and the police will always be guessing to link you to your Citizen ID Profile. Below explains what is on the Fingerprint Profile and the Citizen ID Profile. The reason Citizen ID Profiles are so useful (and why the police will want to link your fingerprints to a Citizen ID) is because the Citizen ID profile gives them all your LEGAL information, such as your house number and vehicles. Today has been a long time coming, with over 1000+ hours of development, meetings and brainstorming sessions. With the changes today, we are changing the direction of RP which we want to see on our server. We have seen for several months that players are more cautious about the value of their item rather than the impact it will have on their character. This update will allow for a gradual change of mentality, and those who play the server just for the gun fights with no willingness to change will disappear from the server. We understand the fear that people will instantly have; it's completely understandable as it's a change from what we know. However, this has been a long and thought-out process, so please have faith in us. This update will enable people to make smarter choices with their weapons, which will ultimately force characters to make better choices, which will result in fewer no-interaction shootouts and a massive improvement in RP as a whole. This update does not remove all your hard work, so do not fear that we are removing all your efforts and time. No, your weapons do not disappear after one or two days, so do not worry.
