Who are the Yakuza?
Yakuza (Japanese: ヤクザ, also known as gokudō 極道, "the extreme path", are members of transnational organized crime syndicates originating in Japan. The Japanese police, and media by request of the police, call them bōryokudan 暴力団, "violent groups", while the yakuza call themselves ninkyō dantai 任侠団体/仁侠団体, "chivalrous organizations". The English equivalent for the term yakuza is gangster, meaning an individual involved in a Mafia-like criminal organization.
The Yakuza first began operating in Liberty City during the 1970s due to financial crises in East Asia. By 1998 they had become one of the strongest gangs in the city and had begun to stockpile weapons which had started to cause troubles with other gangs, the leader of the Yakuza at the time by the name of Kazuki Kasen died to the blade of a sword by his assassin in whom his wife Toshiko Kasen placed upon her husband due to feeling neglected after knowledge she gained in which he was attempting to kill her, after this she commited suicide by letting herself go out of the apartment window after learning of her husbands death and wanting to be free of both the guilt and crime life
The clan after having no leader for some time decided to make their way to Los Santos to establish their presence to be known. Alex Bancroft, an Englishman who had been in the clan since birth due to being shipped off at a young age had risen to the top of the clan through lifetime dedication and was appointed as the new leader of the Yakuza with high goals set in mind to take over the city.
