The year is 2035... Forever?
NATO, AAF and CSAT maintain a large military presence. The overall goal of NATO within the Mediterranean Islands of Altis and Stratis was to enforce peace among refugees of the war and rebels alike. But what lengths were they willing to go to keep power over Altis?
As the rest of the world moved forward from The Great War, reestablishing governments and rebuilding society, the power of NATO within the Mediterranean began to diminish. AAF forces grew into power and NATO forces were meant to withdrawal. Tensions rose as deadlines for dismantling military bases came and went without action taken. Why was NATO not pulling out? And then suddenly, Altis went dark. The rest of world lost contact with the island. Altis, along with everyone on it seemed to dissapear without a trace
Little is known by the outside world of what Altis contains. The vast presence of wealth and power buried deep within Altisian soil has been a locally held secret since humans inhabited the island. Outsiders were unwelcome, and those who came to Altis never left, for fear of discovery and exploitation of the prized resource left behind in Altis soil: Atlantian Power Crystals. The precious gemstones were hid deep within the Earth all across the Island shortly before the destruction of the lost city, Atlantis. The stones are said to have unlimited power: Eternal Youth, Time Control and Alchemy are among some of the most sought after uses.
When NATO, AAF and CSAT took control of Altis, they discovered the Power Crystals through mass excavation, and the race to find and control the crystals became the focus of the military forces.
The inhabitants of Altis were left to reassemble their way of life on their own, while their precious resources were monopolized by militarized groups. Eventually, a shanty government fell into place led by puppets of NATO to control the people. Corrupt police and rebel gangs are led to believe they have control of the island, while the hunt for the crystals continue.
Mind control has been forced upon Altis inhabitants in order to ensure the search for the crystals continues uninterrupted. NATO has used the crystals to keep the people blissfully unaware of the violent race for power exploding around them. Every day, six "meteorites" hit the island and restart the time loop that encompasses Altis. Altisians are not afraid of these daily Armageddons, and strangely, they embrace them as being a force from the gods. After each "meteorite" hits, everyone reawakens in their beds and resumes life, memories wiped of any war catastrophes or dealings with NATO, AAF or CSAT forces.
Once all the crystals are gathered, the forces will clash in the biggest war of all time, leaving only one victor. The last force standing will end the time loop, and reemerge to the rest of the world as the most powerful group there ever has been.
Until then, we are all just pawns in a race for power. No control over our ultimate fate, and unable to live in peace.
