How did you fix it?

You need to press "Y" not "T" to start excavating. In the "Y" menu, press on the excavator -> USE. You will start picking up items, and as stated before, clear your inventory from crap. And try to check the prices in the market if you are unsure. 

I am connected to steam. I pinged the servers, works fine, as for finding them or connect to them, it is impossible. Could it be a protocole issue? (port 2302 I believe?) PS: I would like to note that I've been on this server for a while, this issue has never happened before.  ----------...
