Ban Reason: Not sticking to unban conditions (https://www.roleplay.co.uk/threads/unban-appeal-ravi-gta-rp.427610/#post-2495233)
Why do you think you were banned: Firstly I’d like to say thank you to whichever staff member(s) takes the time out of their day to entertain this appeal - it is appreciated.
I was banned for not sticking to the unban conditions originally set in my first ban (C2.2) of this situation.
To outline for ease of reading and prevent the need for everyone to go back and re-read my previous appeal, the conditions set by Danoo were as follows:
“You will not be able to play character “Ravi Labile” for 5 months, during this time you MUST create a legal character and experience the legal side of RP (This could be NHS/Fire/Police/G6/Park Ranger/Mechanic/Solicitor etc). If you are to be seen logging into Ravi, you will be back onto a ban.”
While I didn’t log onto Ravi, I also didn’t put enough effort into creating and maintaining a legal character. Instead, whilst trying to make a decision on which legal faction I wanted to join, I continued to play on another character (Marcus) who was a member of Grove at the time. The conditions were set by Danoo to give myself a chance to prove that I wasn’t just here for the “fragging” side of RP but to actually RP. By taking too long to maintain a legal character and continue to play on a “gang” character, my actions ultimately proved to the staff team what they believed - that all I wanted was gun fights, which although not the case, didn’t help my case at all.
Why should we unban you: Having read over not only the initial ban but also my last appeal, I am going to try my best to consolidate both without sounding too repetitive.
The circumstances that surrounded my legal character at the time of the initial unban with conditions were very confusing for myself. Instead of asking for clarity I instead tried to get by and work it out myself. I was asked quite quickly after my unban where I thought I was going to go, and because I have had no experience with the legal side of RP I panicked and said Fire just so that the question was answered.
I created a mechanic character and the plan for that character was to start out with NPC mechanic jobs before potentially starting my own “on the road” mechanic company. This would have given me the opportunity to create deals and RP storylines with existing mechanic shops for items such as mechanical repair kits etc. I ultimately lost the motivation to play that character alone. I took some time to decide if I was going to continue with the mechanic RP or “kill” the character and start fresh with a new character in a different legal profession. I admittedly took too long to come to that decision.
I have genuinely thought about my unban conditions and why they were initially set. I can see from a staff members perspective why they believed I was only here to “frag” which is not what the staff team of RPUK want - they want people who are here to RP.
Within a previous appeal, Stuart asked me why I didn’t involve others on my mechanic character as to not be alone, and as I explained in my previous appeal - it was simply because I didn’t really know anyone on that character. Whilst that is mostly my own fault as I didn’t spend enough time on the character to meet new people, I also didn’t want to end up with the same circle of friends as one or more of my other characters which is who I came across the most. I wanted to give the character a real chance and broaden my horizons with meeting new people and associating with different people than my usual. The reason I didn’t choose a legal faction such as NHS or Police is because I know both of those factions have an hour commitment and sometimes I don’t want to play GTA in general and I want to play other games - because of this, I feel like agreeing to a minimum hours commitment would put me in a position where even if I don’t want to play I am being forced to in order to remain in the faction which would ultimately make the game feel more of a chore.
I expect that if I were to be unbanned the same conditions would be set on myself, which is fair. As I had trouble finding a legal faction I believed I would find some enjoyment in that didn’t have a minimum hours requirement, this is what I would like to do if I were to be unbanned, if it were agreed with the staff team. I would like to create a whole new character that knows nobody and has nothing. This character would be completely legal (no criminal activity at all). Instead of joining a legal faction, I’d like to explore and delve deeper into the legal NPC jobs that are available. If that is taxiing, bin jobs etc. I would immerse this character completely into that chosen NPC job (clothing for bins with a hi-vis for example). Whilst doing this I would like to save to potentially buy a business. I thoroughly enjoyed my time running Legion Bean Machine, and it was disheartening when we (myself and Lucy) were told we wouldn’t be able to buy it due to our criminal records after we had saved millions to do so and had spent so much time putting on events, time that I really did enjoy. Once I have this business, whatever it may be, I would then continue to develop this character into a strong name within the city. I would use this business to host events again and put in some real work into the legality of it.
If I’m being honest, I don’t know how to convince you that I should be allowed back. I was given multiple opportunities and it was ultimately my own actions that confirmed a belief that the staff team had about me, regardless of if I meant it or wanted to be perceived like that. I never meant to “lie” about putting in applications for a legal faction, I just panicked every time I was asked as I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I do want to put in the effort to experience another side of RP - how can I truly say I don’t like something if I’ve never really tried it. Whilst admittedly, legal RP has never really held my interest, I am willing to put in the work to give it a decent try.
I hope to be able to change your minds about me in the future and prove that I am not just here to “frag”. I do want to be a part of this community and it’s time for me to grow up and prove it. I made mistakes and I hold my hands up to them. If given the chance, I will put words into action and prove to the staff team that I can be a valued member of this community.
