This post has had no activity, from either players or the staff team, since 2024. Since then, rule suggestions and discussions have moved to
Discord. I’m reviewing and processing the older suggestions here so they don’t remain open indefinitely.
I understand the sentiment behind this; a gang member shouldn't retreat to somewhere they don't want police attention, however, if they don't care for it, and still retreat to their home turf, and their fellow members, press the advantage in other means - if they aren't meant to retreat to their turf, then punish them for doing so; gather evidence, submit intelligence, pursue them at another date. If you continue the pursuit under an obvious threat, it's on you what happens (though it doesn't excuse anyone breaking the rules).
It's also double standard-y, the police will return to Pillbox or a Police Station, or really any close safe haven if they feel threatened (or being attacked), to curb the rest of the player base from doing the same, shifts the focus and generates further distance between the circles within the community. Yes, the Police aren't a gang, so it makes sense, but it also limits RP in the exact same way - just in the opposite direction.
I do think gang members retreating to their turf at the first sign of trouble is lazy, especially when they do so and other members get immediately involved, ramming/attacking those pursuing - it's shit. However, that's a separate issue, and depending on the nuance, it can be reasonable to immediately retreat to their turf (for example, they have a huge warrant, are a gang leader - higher notoriety, or their vehicle is damaged/lacks fuel, thus requiring urgent assistance). I'd encourage those who are being pursued to strategise and employ other tactics before rushing to their turf, where possible, such as setting up an ambush, swapping cars in a hidden area, or setting up blockades. Get creative with it. You'll find that the police will often commend your tactics and reward you through other means, if you do - or I hope, at least.
Thank you for taking the time to make this suggestion; however, this rule suggestion would struggle to gain meaningful implementation, and can be somewhat 'tackled' through roleplay means - and some advice for both sides: get creative, and remember there's always a long game. Given this, the suggestion will be considered rejected.
