Vehicle Points - Improvement

Hello everyone!

I've wanted to raise this point for a while now, as I feel like the way that vehicle points are given to civs/crims in general could be improved.

At the moment, points can be added to a vehicle without any notification or reason being given to the owner, from a gameplay and realism perspective it feels off. In real life, you'd have some sort of documentation, record or notification explaining what offence was made and what the points were given for.

From personal experience, the only way to find out why a vehicle got points would be for it to go through the standard 'get a solicitor and apply for a SAR request'. This took weeks for me and the delay made it quite difficult to properly roleplay the consequences or contest the points in a meaningful timeframe.

The main issues with the current points system:
  • Players have no idea why the points were added (no context, date, reasoning)
  • Players can't learn from mistakes/adjust their RP from previous experiences
  • Forcing players to go down the 'SAR' route can take weeks for a response and doesn't fit how the real world traffic laws/investigations work
  • Civs/criminals can’t properly roleplay accountability or disputes when they don’t know what they’re accused of
  • Creates frustration and confusion rather than engagement, people feel blindsided instead of drawn into meaningful RP
  • Points can be added to peoples personal cars, which may have been stolen by others
  • A player might only find out their vehicle has points weeks later when trying to sell it or use it again

How this can be improved:
I think something quite simple could be implemented to make the points system a lot visable. Just like you get a text to say your vehicle has been impounded, why can't this also be done for when you get points? A simple text message to say that your vehicle has recived x amount of points, for x reasoning, with the date/time and the officer which actioned the points. This would then skip waiting for a SAR, and crims/civs could go straight to getting a solicitor to fight the case etc.

Does this suggestion change balance on the server?
I don't believe this would change the balance, it's not about making things easier for criminals, it's about making the system more transparent and realistic for everyone involved. Having visibility encourages better RP all around and helps both sides handle these situations more fairly and efficiently.

It's quite shitty that people can get points on cars without even knowing so, there should be a way to get notified. Also I think it should be easier to either get points removed or "buy" them off.

Most of this can be fixed in RP.

Yes it’s annoying to wake up to points but there are solicitors there for a reason. Give them something to do 🤷‍♂️

It does feel rather strange it happens without notification.

You get a message for your car being impounded but not for having points placed? (I know this is because there's an in game mechanic for that but in terms of roleplay)

"Hello,

Your vehicle [REG] has had x point placed against it as per report#

Blah blah SAR solicitor idk.

-Police/court"

+1 only people who’ll disagree with this is feds

Strange comment.

Actually for this, unfortunately 9 times out of 10 we have no contact details on record for the owner so adding it to police policy wouldn’t make much sense. A built in game mechanic using the text system would work just fine.

Something needs to change in a month and a half ive had 3 cars scrapped. Funny how they wack points on the expensive cars but when i do the same thing in cheap cars police dont bother with points seems they like to target the expensive cars (Sports/Supers) to get some sort of power trip out of it.
