Right first off im going to be speaking plainly here so if you're going to get upset or just not consider due to being offended, just don't bother reading.

This server is fucking dying and one of the main causes is just the sheer higher-than-life mentality a lot of people have within this community. For some reason unbeknownst to me this server decides to treat every little fucking thing about the future or decisions being made as the fucking blueprints to Fort Knox. The amount of secrecy is just fucking stupid, especially for a server where at any given moment the phrase "adult community" is chucked about yet the entire community is treated as children and expected to lie down and just accept it. THIS IS AN ADULT COMMUNITY and with alot of games simple shit such as a roadmap for developments is expected yet we are told "you'll find out" and promised change but see absolutely nothing about it. This server is dying and the higher than life mentalities are oblivious to what is needed and what is being asked for just proven by a certain recent suggestion the fact that half of the active community agreed and wanted change and yet we are told that we are short sighted yet how tf can you expect us to not be when every single thing is hidden we are all adults within this community and we all want this to thrive yet we are treated like children and all we want is to know what the fuck is happening.

Im not going to apologise for the tone of this suggestion, we need transparency for this community to continue there has been a couple decisions in the last week that has caused alot of this community to just want to leave and if you arnt aware of that you are now this needs to change and we need to know whats coming we have been kept in the dark for far too long this isnt a state secret its a game tell us whats going on.

Alot of the negative mentalities as of recently has been due to seeing minuscule positive change to this server compared to other communities over the past 3 years and we are always told that stuff is happening yet over these 3 years promises have been made and nothing has been followed up on. I cant stress this enough how do expect to keep this community together when we have had to deal with the same responses over and over again if we know what is coming, then we can be excited and see that change and actually want to log on to the server, as right now most of the positive changes have been targeted towards factions, mainly police and most recent changes are making life outside of factions or WL gangs just nearing impossible its becoming ridiculous. A roadmap of not even exact dates just so we know what is activly getting worked on so that the community actually knows whats happening.

Taking a recent thread that has poured fuel on the fire of negative mentality, if we knew about that change coming then we could have gave opinions so this massive distrust wouldnt have been made by terms like "its easier to reduce than increase" when the feedback was so overwhelmingly negative it would give devs and management a lot more clarity on what the comunnity agrees and disagress with so that time can be saved by not spending it on shit that isnt needed.

At the end of the day, everyone chucks the phrase "Adult Community", but it honestly feels more like an oppressive dictatorship with the state secrets and lack of transparency im not asking to know every little fact about everyone's life. This community just needs a better degree of transparancy to both whats coming development-wise and any decisions that are controversial by staff/management i dont think its a hard ask to know what changes are coming before its too late.

But the people that can sort this wont care and nothing will come of this. You probably wont even get a staff members response to this. Shame really as its going down the same route of their Arma3 server.
 
Yeah its a shame to see but if it's ignored just proves my point of it being a dictatorship and ignoring the opinions of the majority of players
 
@Junior Blanco/Brock Lee @West1 It’s only been up 30 minutes. At least give someone a chance to respond before writing it off. Being rude or dismissive won’t help. All the developers and staff are volunteers giving their time, not paid employees.
I intend to reply, but it will take me a minute to get my thoughts together.

Couldn't agree more, this is a COMMUNITY... Yet when 50% of the numbers of the server gets each night disagrees with a post in 2 day's we get insulted by comunity leaders...

But who are we to argue its just "Crocodile Tears", anyway imma go back to grinding money to pull my vehicle out.
 
Downside to a roadmap is that it adds pressure onto the Devs who do this all for free

Think let's say on the roadmap they say in this order of adding things

- Complete and implement lawmowing job
- Add in warehouse level containers for players to own
- Add new vehicle tuning system to fine-tune cars
- Add new trainers
- bring game build up to date
- remove and replace imports
- player owned pets
- and 50 other fixes patches and tweaks
- and finally - Add in a new ATM robbery system

I can guarantee that all they would get bombarded with is, fuck the other things we don't want that just add ATM robbing and how they think the other stuff is shit

You want the server to flourish and have all these things changed and added and updated but because you don't get it NOW it's fuck this and fuck that and this is shit, now think how that makes the Devs who spend hours of free time to make it all happen feel, I can guarantee it puts a why the fuck should I bother doing this for them mood on them, unless you want to hire and pay them all as full time Devs for the server

Roadmap is a terrible idea it will just put pressure onto the people who do things for free to have to rush to get things done

Also alot of content added is rewarding the things others do on the server, show good rp and commitment then stuff gets added

You want to see what goes on behind the scenes then apply to be part of the testing team and help with testingnamd have input on some of the changes made

I wouldn't have put it up otherwise, but with considerations for recent events and the level of disrespect from a community leader in response to one of these im sure you can understand why my opinions can seem somewhat hostile

Okay, so going off on people responding to your suggestion in the same manner you did, an opinion.
You can take some time off from the forum in that case.
 
I don't understand why people are surprised that gaming communities/servers are in fact dictatorships and not some sort of hivemind utopia democracy. The people who own, run, develop and moderate the community decide the direction it goes in for better or worse, of course in a healthy community the views and wishes of the playerbase are considered but they are never actually making decisions.

RE the recent shitstorm over the parking fees - I agree that it was way too much as introduced initially, but given it was changed within 4 days following feedback I'm not sure why people are still salty?

RE transparency, this server is a lot more transparent than most. The fact that most reports and appeals are dealt with in the 'open' on a public forum is already miles ahead of most other communities and generally a good sign. That said, no staff team or community is going to be without fault but I have seen far, far worse.

In terms of a roadmap I suppose devs or some mega admin would have to give their views on that but I'd assume that when the work is done by a ragtag (no offence) group of VOLUNTEERS working for FREE and (presumably) mostly on their 'own things' separately, it's kind of difficult to predict / create a roadmap, and with GTA 6 so close how long does the FiveM iteration of RPUK even have left assuming they developed everything the community wants?
 
I agree with the current state of the server more transparency would be good. Maybe not a roadmap, because that will make devs rush stuff and at the end of the day they are volunteers. But maybe some ideas of what is coming? A lot of crims are kinda bored and waiting for something new to do. We've spoken about vehicle boosting, vehicle chopping, residential burglaries, fake license plates and many more crim rp avenues plenty of times, but realistically none of us know if it's even being worked on. I know CJ hinted at one thing a few weeks ago but that's about it.
I do however agree with Joe that the devs and even staff don't OWE us transparency. It would be nice, but it's not nessecary. Maybe these things will come, maybe not.

You cant really compare this to other communities, the majority of them have telex stores and paid developers. It’s always been transparent that the devs work for free here.

But it’s a serious Uk roleplay server and that’s why we’re all here. It’s difficult on ones with paid devs and roadmaps, but all events in US times.

I agree there has been a decline but that has mainly been in the actual roleplay rather than the grind and shoot we have now.

I’d love the roadmaps too and the constant updates and changes but we know what we signed up for when we played RPUK.

I do think a tebex store and paid devs would be good here and even suggested it a year or 2 ago.

Transparency could be nice in the sense of a ''hey we have this new casino game planned to be added in the next month'' when something's already near finish, so they can see people hype and chat about what they think the details of it will be (give's staff/dev some insight on what people think it will be and prize's etc etc) but a whole roadmap i think is difficult to do if you didn't have one from the start.

I think what is mainly looking as ''the city dying'' is that the shops are closed so often, yesterday 5 shops were open which i noticed i found a lot... i counted and that meant 39 shops were closed... 39... if shop owners can find ways to not get bored opening shops the city will seem more alive and people will have more desire to fly in again. (someone open the KOI pleassssseeeeeeee)

another thing i noticed is that i think staff members are way too overworked (from my point of view, maybi i'm wrong), maybi getting more staff members or handing some in city jobs to trusted non-staff members could relieve some pressure and give staff some more time to create some small montly events? take them for ''paintball'' or racing around some race tracks would deffinetely get people excited to fly in as well.

I think it's good to give some feedback on what you think is causing issue's atm and how to change it, in a polite way of course. we know everyone means well. we all love the city. :3​

 
I agree to some degree, but as stated above.. compared to other servers that may update / do things quicker also make thousands of pounds e.g selling a flying car for £200 real money, or a in game house for £500 :ROFLMAO: and people actually pay for all that to WIN. This is a server where real money isn't involved and everything the devs and staff do is for free.
