Placeable /me (World Placeable Text)

I think everyone will agree that the /me, /do, /medical, etc. commands all massively help to enhance roleplay and situations, but I’ve sometimes wished I had more control over placing items down, leaving evidence, or markers to help set up a roleplay scene. While photos and labelling machines can often help with this, they have limitations and require items and setup.

Being able to place a /me-equivalent command down for a set period could massively enhance roleplay scenarios.

I could see people using this to place blood trails leading somewhere, set down torture equipment on a table, have businesses open stalls full of items on display, or put text on computers describing what is being seen. There are a lot of options and potential with this feature, and I’ve seen it used very well on other servers in the past.

The Pros:
- Enhances Roleplay
- Improves Scene Building
- Lots of potential

The Cons:
- Could be troublesome to dev
- Could be mis-used

Example I found of placeable text

I'm not quite sure how this would be best made, but I do agree it could enhance RP a lot.

+1

cant wait to see some freaky and racist stuff around town
100% a risk, but luckily we have logging and bans for a reason. I imagine it would be treated the same as any other offensive comment.

From my experience with this not only does it look un uniform it’s also very abused and not worth it.
Personally, from my perspective, any of the / commands could be argued to be abused, and we have rules to protect againsts it "/me bleeds out" for exmample. But I did mention it as a con for that reason. I think value it could add to RP far outweights any potential mis-use and as always, rule against power gaming exist for a reason.

Not only the words said. It’s when someone wants to spam it in pillbox taking up your whole screen.

Its just annoying and doesn’t look pleasant in my experience.

Do you not think this is something that could be resolved with the correct design approach? For example, a cap on the number of these elements in a set area, a limited time span they can exist, giving other's around the option of a /clean command to remove them.

I'd appeciate any suggestions you have, on how this might be implemented in a none invasive way, since you've run into them before.

If this was limited to shop owners in their shops to make comments about sales ect then that’s cool, or police/ NHS setting up triage points.

But the average player has little roleplay benefit from this, and just opens opportunity for abuse.

I'd +1 this,

There are some staff cons but this can be limited by fairly extensive logging which is already in place, and cooldowns on placing them or drawable distance limits so that it can't be spammed everywhere

Realistically the same cons apply to cardboard boxes, you can put WHATEVER you want on an image and drop it on the floor, just the same as writing anything in /here to spawn a floating hologram
