Increase of gunfights... increase of people with shared broadband... more people spamming shit... the list goes on and on

There is no lag on the server when no one is on it! If you come up with a fix please share 🙂

yeah I understand the "list" that your talking about. I'm not going to say anything about how to fix it, because I dont know how to.

The thing is, a lot more things happend before you know and it wasnt this "heavy" if you know what I mean.

Everything can't be perfect, but got to start some places to make it better. 🙂

@NimmerN check the recent dev change log... a lot has been optimised and continues to be optimised so things are being done.

Things always do seem to get worse after an arma update... every Arma update for the last nearly 6 years!

Only reference point we have is similar servers. From my experience RPUKs altis life runs worse performance wise than a lot of other servers. That is the reason for the frustation among a lot of players. They want to play RPUK, but the servers performance is very poor and they see other servers with better performance. Perhaps something is to be learned from other servers? No idea what relations are like between servers, but sharing knowledge across communities could be an option.

Can the hardware actually support 130 players with the size of the mission file now? Seeing how the server has been unexpectedly crashing recently and how it was when everyone updated during the purge. What hardware is used?

@Rice Krispy Arma3server.exe is not even coming close to maxing out the hardware of the server.

The crashes I have noticed have been connected to many many people in one area all speaking at the same time, These crashes have only come about in the last 2 Arma 3 updates, I note there are other community's that have a lot more crashes than us (nightly)

This engine was never meant for 130 players doing multiple different things, running this many scripts with this many gunfights and objects... everything adds up! 

Its also very limited as it waits for players to communicate back to the server before updating the other 129 people... a few people with a slow connection and things start syncing slower.

The Purge was down to people running an event that haven't run one here before with the mass amount of people... If you remember back me and Ciaran used to lock and unlock the server to allow people to download the mission file, this was done once it was suggested, That is due to Arma3server.exe not being able to allow 130 people to download a small mission file at once... Dont worry the server could handle that all day long! 

@Cool Lets not do the compare to other server thing, Different code, different coders, different focus completely.

We have relations with servers ran by decent people sure! The ones ran by not so decent people we do not waste our good time with.

Would it be possible to strip down the mission file to just the absolutely necessary scripts and trial that for 1-2 days? Gotta give props to @Jaffa though. Seems he’s been doing a lot recently and we do appreciate it and hope he can track down the main issue

@Jaffa cares a lot about this community, You can tell that from the time he puts into it and the hundreds of commits he has done, but unfortunately all he hears is moans and never praise and I must admit that pisses me off! This community's members should be doing more to praise and keep our devs interested.

What are you proposing we strip down ?

Don't think anyone holds anything against the devs! this community is just pasionate and when people finish a hard day they come on and have issues which frustates them! again this isn't anyones fault just a very poorly made game being pushed to it's limits! 

Also think it didn't help with DJ (the useful one) gifting us with an update every week for a year or so got everyones expectiations up high. Then when real life came around it slowed down and people were used to it weekly. (again no ones having a go, was just a big change) 

Think i can speak for most people to say we greatly appriacte the work the dev team does and all the fun it has given us! Keep up the hard work 😄
