isnt that what the  status update is being used for?

I was going to type something like this up in the suggestions at some point

A shoutbox is easier to have a rgoup conversation on really as it's all in one place isn't it. It's like a community-wide group chat per-say and status updates are, well, status updates.

but we have lovely discussions in the status updates, im not a fan of the shoutbox as I think it makes the website look tatty, maybe just set up a separate one and just have a link too it somewhere
