I upgraded from a 840 to 850 last week. 850 EVO  The replaced 2 year old 840 EVO (tested after a surface refresh using the Samsung tool) I did have two SSDs in RAID 0 but it started to feel slow RAID 0 840 EVO and Kingston turns out the Kingston SSD was slowing everything down...
