Well the CPU has already been bought for me as a gift, and I will ask my IT teacher in college about overclocking, how would I know if the RAM is suitable to overclock with?

Yes, i have tried turning it on before the computer is on, i have tried turning it on once the computer is on, i have tried leaving it on standby mode and then turning the computer on. I have also tried disconnecting my original monitor to see if i can use my TV as a monitor but no luck.
