The protection could also be expensive. Have a new re-textured  Red Shemag added, so cops can spot who is protected from the gas, and maybe tase or shoot to kill these 'redheads' as priority, then make the other rebels cry with the green smoke. :)

There is no possible reason for you not seeing direct communication when typed. Remember a lot of players turn off side chat, so they won't see any gibberish that people type in there. I often turn it off to avoid random VON blasts from noobs, or if I'm sick of seeing the same stupid questions...
