So me and a few friends have been playing for a while now we have started to gather a fair bit of money together and we was thinking of buying a home are they all taken or just really hard to get?

There are plenty of houses available for you to buy, assuming you have a home owners license. Any houses that don't have locked doors you can buy. Walk inside them and press the windows key and press buy, and it'll show you the price.
