Evening Everyone,
We have updated our restart schedule on the FiveM server to hopefully increase the population in the early evening.
The new schedule will take effect tomorrow (29/05/2023 at 09:00 meaning the server will restart at 09:00 BST instead of 08:00 BST).
The new schedule is as follows:
Morning Restart: 08:00 -> 09:00
Afternoon Restart: 16:00 -> 14:00
Evening Restart: 20:00 -> 18:00
As stated the main goal is to increase the roleplay between 18:00 and 20:00.
A lot of people wait with jumping on the server, or wait with starting larger RP events because of the 20:00 restart. The player metrics back this heavily and we see a really big spike after 20:00 which doesn't start to decrease until about midnight.
The expectation is that this will move us from a 4-hour peak to a 5 or 6 hour peak in terms of population and roleplay.
Besides the RP there are also some logistical reasons for the current schedule. It is hard balancing all the different needs of the community, some people go to uni/college and are home at 4 or 5, some work and are home closer to 6 or 7, some are in different timezones.
This makes it really hard for us to find the sweet spot that serves as many people as possible and also remains a time that we can push updates and be ready for hotfixes and those pesky bugs that make it to production.
(a 17:00 and 19:00 restarts were also considered but deemed not feasible for the development/systems teams)
We know that there will be a group of people that have dinner around 18:00 or 19:00 and be ready to play at 20:00.
With the current queue times not being very high those people should still be able to jump on at 20:00 and not be affected by the change.
We will be monitoring the numbers closely to ensure it has the desired effect and if not we will adjust/revert.
