Why do you think you were banned: I was banned for Metagaming - whereby I believe the offence was caused by me messaging a player on Discord explaining that I was leaving the law firm (Wanyama Law) and migrating to my own law firm (Vanguard Legal) due to out-of-character issues, and feeling like I was being pushed out by members of the team there. In this message, I explained that I had intentions of leaving Wanyama Law and that if they were reading this message, they were welcome to join me on my new adventure. The part that I had not explicitly stated in the message was that I had no intentions of metagaming, and that I was also in the middle of planning a story for my character to amicably leave (due to OOC 'drama' not being a valid reason to end serious long-term RP). I believe that this misinterpretation of my message was what lead to my initial ban, due to the fact that said actions could be perceived as willingness to metagame, thus lowering the standards for those adjacent to my position within the community - and I apologise for that.
Following my punishment, I raised a staff ticket to request more information on my punishment but was told that I wouldn't be allowed to learn more - at this point I was genuinely confused as to the cause of the punishment and solely wanted to request more information to better my understanding of my situation, no harm intended. Once the ticket was denied and closed, I learned of a situation where 3 of my friends had been required to open tickets and explain their side of the situation to staff, and staff had asked those players to show personal messages between myself and them, to what I believed at the time to be in pursuit of confirming their belief and gathering more evidence. Being unhappy with this method, I raised a management ticket to raise concerns regarding it, which turned into a multiple staff member involved ticket. This is what I know led to my 6 month ban extension, due to it being perceived that I had created the ticket to belittle staff and waste their time - I apologise if this is how it came across, but I was honestly just trying to raise a concern, I understand that if it's normal practice, it wouldn't have gone anywhere and I apologise for my responses within.
Why should we unban you: As a long standing member of the community, I hope that my contributions and time spent trying to raise the standards and better the roleplay within the community should speak for themselves. I have, and if given the chance will continue to, spend my time within the community trying to raise the bar and contribute to a high quality environment.
I understand that my actions post-ban within the RPUK Ticket system may be perceived as unwilling to change, but having spent 6 months away from the community I believe that now armed with the understanding as to why what happened did, I can re-raise my own standards and become twice the player I was originally.
If I was to return, my plan would be to try and return to a similar line of roleplay given my enjoyment is still high for this field of RP, but put as much effort into moving as much of the roleplay back in-game to make it feel more organic and involved, as closer to the time when I was leaving a lot of the process was handled via Discord tickets, feeling unnatural and likely leading to my standards slipping as low as they did pre-ban.
Writing this, I am hoping that there is still a chance to rekindle my relationship with the community, hoping that staff and players alike are willing to grant me a new beginning and trust that I can contribute to the community in meaningful ways.
