Server: GTA RP
Character Name: Ravi Labile
Steam ID: 76561198349123038
Ban ID (just the numbers): 17722
Ban Reason: Not sticking to unban conditions (https://www.roleplay.co.uk/threads/unban-appeal-ravi-gta-rp.427610/#post-2495233)
Why do you think you were banned: Firstly I’d like to say thank you to whichever staff member(s) takes the time out of their day to entertain this appeal - it is appreciated.

I was banned for not sticking to the unban conditions originally set in my first ban (C2.2) of this situation.

To outline for ease of reading and prevent the need for everyone to go back and re-read my previous appeal, the conditions set by Danoo were as follows:
“You will not be able to play character “Ravi Labile” for 5 months, during this time you MUST create a legal character and experience the legal side of RP (This could be NHS/Fire/Police/G6/Park Ranger/Mechanic/Solicitor etc). If you are to be seen logging into Ravi, you will be back onto a ban.”

While I didn’t log onto Ravi, I also didn’t put enough effort into creating and maintaining a legal character. Instead, whilst trying to make a decision on which legal faction I wanted to join, I continued to play on another character (Marcus) who was a member of Grove at the time. The conditions were set by Danoo to give myself a chance to prove that I wasn’t just here for the “fragging” side of RP but to actually RP. By taking too long to maintain a legal character and continue to play on a “gang” character, my actions ultimately proved to the staff team what they believed - that all I wanted was gun fights, which although not the case, didn’t help my case at all.
Why should we unban you: Having read over not only the initial ban but also my last appeal, I am going to try my best to consolidate both without sounding too repetitive.

The circumstances that surrounded my legal character at the time of the initial unban with conditions were very confusing for myself. Instead of asking for clarity I instead tried to get by and work it out myself. I was asked quite quickly after my unban where I thought I was going to go, and because I have had no experience with the legal side of RP I panicked and said Fire just so that the question was answered.

I created a mechanic character and the plan for that character was to start out with NPC mechanic jobs before potentially starting my own “on the road” mechanic company. This would have given me the opportunity to create deals and RP storylines with existing mechanic shops for items such as mechanical repair kits etc. I ultimately lost the motivation to play that character alone. I took some time to decide if I was going to continue with the mechanic RP or “kill” the character and start fresh with a new character in a different legal profession. I admittedly took too long to come to that decision.

I have genuinely thought about my unban conditions and why they were initially set. I can see from a staff members perspective why they believed I was only here to “frag” which is not what the staff team of RPUK want - they want people who are here to RP.

Within a previous appeal, Stuart asked me why I didn’t involve others on my mechanic character as to not be alone, and as I explained in my previous appeal - it was simply because I didn’t really know anyone on that character. Whilst that is mostly my own fault as I didn’t spend enough time on the character to meet new people, I also didn’t want to end up with the same circle of friends as one or more of my other characters which is who I came across the most. I wanted to give the character a real chance and broaden my horizons with meeting new people and associating with different people than my usual. The reason I didn’t choose a legal faction such as NHS or Police is because I know both of those factions have an hour commitment and sometimes I don’t want to play GTA in general and I want to play other games - because of this, I feel like agreeing to a minimum hours commitment would put me in a position where even if I don’t want to play I am being forced to in order to remain in the faction which would ultimately make the game feel more of a chore.

I expect that if I were to be unbanned the same conditions would be set on myself, which is fair. As I had trouble finding a legal faction I believed I would find some enjoyment in that didn’t have a minimum hours requirement, this is what I would like to do if I were to be unbanned, if it were agreed with the staff team. I would like to create a whole new character that knows nobody and has nothing. This character would be completely legal (no criminal activity at all). Instead of joining a legal faction, I’d like to explore and delve deeper into the legal NPC jobs that are available. If that is taxiing, bin jobs etc. I would immerse this character completely into that chosen NPC job (clothing for bins with a hi-vis for example). Whilst doing this I would like to save to potentially buy a business. I thoroughly enjoyed my time running Legion Bean Machine, and it was disheartening when we (myself and Lucy) were told we wouldn’t be able to buy it due to our criminal records after we had saved millions to do so and had spent so much time putting on events, time that I really did enjoy. Once I have this business, whatever it may be, I would then continue to develop this character into a strong name within the city. I would use this business to host events again and put in some real work into the legality of it.

If I’m being honest, I don’t know how to convince you that I should be allowed back. I was given multiple opportunities and it was ultimately my own actions that confirmed a belief that the staff team had about me, regardless of if I meant it or wanted to be perceived like that. I never meant to “lie” about putting in applications for a legal faction, I just panicked every time I was asked as I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I do want to put in the effort to experience another side of RP - how can I truly say I don’t like something if I’ve never really tried it. Whilst admittedly, legal RP has never really held my interest, I am willing to put in the work to give it a decent try.

I hope to be able to change your minds about me in the future and prove that I am not just here to “frag”. I do want to be a part of this community and it’s time for me to grow up and prove it. I made mistakes and I hold my hands up to them. If given the chance, I will put words into action and prove to the staff team that I can be a valued member of this community.
Please confirm that you have read the unban appeal process and rules: Yes

You've demonstrated on multiple occasions that you can't be trusted to tell the truth or follow instructions from the staff team.
  • Told to play a legal character for 5 months - Failed
  • Told staff you were waiting for your fire app to be approved, but hadn't submitted an app - Lied
  • Told staff you'd start playing said character after being spoken to directly about the matter - Lied
  • Blamed the above on demotivation, but continued to play a gang character - Lied
Looking at your history, you have also demonstrated a poor approach to the server overall. Bans for NVL, exploiting (more than once) and wasting staffs time by parading yourself as underage on an RPUK platform.

In general terms, you've presented yourself as untrustworthy and as being here to use the server as an arena rather than a storybook.

Now with that brief summary thrown out there, convince me that we should allow you back through the doors

Hello @C_Date, thank you for taking the time to read through my appeal.

I can completely understand given my history why the staff team have no trust in me anymore. I'll be the first person to hold my hands up and admit that my past actions have been immature and childish at the least - especially the running joke I continued to make about being underage, had I know that was not going to be perceived as the joke it was intended to be, I certainly wouldn't have done it.

I don't believe I can necessarily "convince" you to do anything, it's all about whether you think it possible to give me a last golden opportunity.

Since my ban I have tried to learn a lot more about the benefits of being a positive influence on RP. I would like to believe that I have matured. Since my ban, I got myself onto a whitelisted server (obviously won't be mentioning names) where I have been able to drastically improve the standard of my RP and learn a valuable lesson in why top tier RP is important. Whilst other servers are great in their own right, they're not RPUK. It just doesn't feel the same - but I took the opportunity to grow and make sure my RP improves for if a golden chance becomes available for me back at RPUK.

I don't want to be the name that continues to pop up every time something "bad" happens. I am here to RP and I want to get involved in both long and short-term stories that develop into something great. I understand why the staff team believe I am simply here to use the server "as an arena" because it is true that I do enjoy the gang aspect of the server but I certainly don't want to be known for that.

If given a golden opportunity to return, I want to make sure that when someone mentions my name it's for something good and that I can change the perception the staff team has of me.

Again, I don't believe I can "convince" anyone to do anything if I'm being honest, it's all about if you're willing to give me that last golden chance to prove myself.

I've been considering what to do when you responded. You've been previously told to play a legal character, which never made it out of the gate, so to speak. So that option is burnt.

I think the next step would be a fresh start for you, a removal of characters entirely.

My logic is that, you've demonstrated that you're drawn to the gang life, and no doubt, that's where you will end up again, if I were to unban you. I think a fresh start, building new relations and links in the server, is a very harsh punishment, but fitting to the level of trust we can place in you at this moment in time. Is this something you would entertain as a stipulation for return?

Well I do appreciate the time you have taken for my appeal so far.

I understand why you believe that a legal character is out of the question but it is something I want to work harder at if that were still a viable option.

As for the removal of characters entirely, you are right it is a harsh punishment but I understand why you believe it may be the right one.

The only thing I would ask, is to keep Ravi. I would be more than happy to get rid of every other character AND create a legal character to keep alongside Ravi. I'm aware that Aztecas are no longer a gang - and that is the only place Ravi would have gone in order to help them rebuild but that is no longer an option for him. If anything he would be used as a petty criminal but he would have no gang ties - to be honest I'm not too interested in having gang ties anyway as none of the current gangs are of any interest to me. I just would like to keep Ravi if it were please allowed due to his history - not only his friendships but his relationship/storylines etc.

Again, the punishment of losing all characters is a very hard pill to swallow and I'm open to discussing it in order to return.

You've caught me on a good day, but truthfully, I only see 2 options available to you at this stage, with the history you've accumulated.

This is your golden chance as it were.

I can either say, enough is enough, and shut down this appeal and any chance of you returning to the rpuk game server.

Or I delete all characters apart from Ravi. We wipe Ravis account clean. And put a 3 month block on that character being in a whitelisted gang.

This will give you the fresh start, but be able to hold on to some nostalgia with that character. I want to see progression, not Ravi's friends suddenly waking up and making large donations!

Which is the prefered option?

Hello there @Ravi

Your character Ravi Labile has been wiped and your other characters were deleted, as per the above.

I will make it very clear what is expected of you:

- Ravi Labile will not be allowed to join any whitelisted gang for the next 3 months.
- We expect to see you roleplay. Create scenarios and stay away from gunfights.

Quite frankly, the fact that you are given yet another chance is lucky on your part - I suggest you use it, because this is your last one.

Any ban within the next 6 months will land you on the permanent shit list and yet another appeal will simply not be entertained.

Unbanned.
