Preface

Thank you for taking the time to read this guide. The purpose of this guide is to help prepare you to step into the wonderful world of Altis Life UK (ALUK). This is not a game play guide, but a guide for how you should conduct yourself as a proper player here. This guide will list information about the community itself, give you little tips and tricks, and it is our hope you will enjoy your time playing here, and become a permanent member of our community.

-For gameplay tips read Alexim and Puppy1004’s guide: http://www.altislife.co.uk/topic/29282-the-ultimate-altislife-guide-updated-220615/

Once you have all those you do not have to get whitelisted here. We are an open adult community and welcome people of all ages. Once you connect to the server, select a civilian slot, accept, and you will download a 40 MB mission file.

The Team

The staff at ALUK works hard to provide you with a fun and enjoyable experience; we have a large team here that you should get to know.

Founder: Wilco the big cheese is the founder of ALUK, and the head of all admins. He makes the final decisions

Developers: Ciaran and TinyBigJacko(Ed Williams) are responsible for your enjoyment and ensuring the server code is bug free. They also add more features based on community feedback and needs.

Admins: These folks handle player reports, unban requests, compensation requests, and are part of making the decisions with the Founder/Dev team

In-game Admins: Selected players who have access to observe for in-game violations of rules, hackers, and can provide assistance for bugs where a player gets stuck. They can ban/kick players in game if a violation occurs. They cannot handle comp, forum reports, or unban requests.

Forum Moderators:  Responsible for maintaining order on the forums, moving/deleting threads, and issuing warning points for disruptive members.

Mentor Team: Selected players who are responsible for assisting the community. Also act as moderators on team speak. Can sit in on issues between players on team speak and act as a mediator. Can assist players with completing a player report, ban dispute, compensation request. Can teach a player in-game how to play as well. All mentors on teamspeak will be identified with a [Mentor] tag, and blue shield with white M.

IMPORTANT!!!
When admins are on TS/Forums, they should not be private messaged unless it’s an absolute emergency (DDOS Attack, Hacker on server, website/TS down.) Other requests such as looking at unbans, compensation, and other reports will be ignored. If you need help, use the mentors!

The mentor team

The mentor teams are players just like you, but they have been selected for their desire to help the community. They are volunteers and act as Teamspeak server moderators. If you need a mentor’s help go to the Welcome Center on Teamspeak, and seek out a player with a [Mentor] tag.

Mentors will assist you by answering questions about the game, server, and community. If you need to make a player report, unban request, or need some help filling out a form, they will assist you.

If you ever want to resolve a dispute with another player ask a mentor to sit in with you on a conversation. They will act as a mediator, and peace maker. Sometimes they can offer advice/opinions on a situation and help you sort/resolve everything.

Mentors will help you in-game if you ask them. They can show you the key places on Altis, how to do both legal/illegal professions, and teach you helpful things to get you started.

Section II: THE RULES

The rules

The rules can be found here: http://www.altislife.co.uk/rules
You might ask why this guide has the rules posted so much? It’s because on ALUK we live and die by the rules

Unlike other Altis Life/ArmA RPG servers, ALUK prides itself on the rules. These rules are what make it enjoyable here. We are an open adult community, and our strict rules are the reason why there is no white listing process here.

The reason why ALUK is popular is because the rules are strict, and the admins are quick to enforce them.

IGNORANCE OF THE RULES IS NOT A VALID EXUSE!

The links to the rules are posted as soon as you enter the game with the welcome message. It is your responsibility to read them.

Report a Player

So you caught someone breaking the rules, or maybe you got killed by another player and you’re mad. Whatever the reason you are now reporting a player, but you should know some things before doing so.

First thing is read the proper template: http://www.altislife.co.uk/topic/1818-how-to-report-a-player/

Second thing is read the reverend’s guide: http://www.altislife.co.uk/topic/26648-before-you-report-a-player/

Now that you think you’re ready to report a player, you need to remember the following

1.      Is this a gregarious rule break, or is this someone who made a mistake?

2.      Can it be sorted on teamspeak?

3.      Do you have sufficient evidence?

4.      Have you filled out the template correctly?

A note on evidence: Without video recording or screenshots, the report will get denied for most rulebreaks.

I also recommend always trying to sort it out with the player on teamspeak if you can. Ask a Mentor to sit in with you as you try to sort it. Remember we are human and sometimes we make mistakes, sometimes just talking it out will solve the problem

A note on revenge reports: Reporting someone because they made a genuine mistake and because you’re salty makes you look bloodthirsty, and kind of shitty. Also don’t brag about getting people banned as it creates a toxic environment, and the admins will community ban people for such activities.

I’ve been reported!

Well you’ve been reported, you’ve been accused of breaking a rule. This is your time to offer justification and dispute the evidence again you. You can also provide evidence to show your innocence, or to justify why you did what you did. You also have a chance to resolve the issue with a player, and they can request the report to be withdrawn.

I’ve been banned!

Welp, you got banned. Here at ALUK the admins have a two strike rule, the first strike is a permanent ban that may be appealed. The second strike is a permanent ban without appeal.

Now comes the time you need to post a dispute.

http://www.altislife.co.uk/topic/4325-important-how-to-appeal-your-ban-read-before-opening-a-request/

Failing to follow this template will result in your ban appeal being denied.

The ban appeal is the time for you to admin you’ve done something wrong, and tell the admins you’ve reread the rules, and apologize for your actions. Do not give excuses or try to justify why you did what you did. Admit your mistake respectfully, be apologetic, and show the admins you can learn from this situation.

Also do not bump your request; it will be looked at when the admins get to it. Bumping it will cause the admins to not look at it sooner, or may result in a denial.

I was denied/perma banned

If you were denied, try again, and meet the requests of the admins.

If you’ve been perma banned, your time is done, and there is no coming back.

Section III: Compensation Requests

If you’ve lost money because of bugs, being killed through RDM/VDM, or unexpected restart, you can put in a compensation request.

http://www.altislife.co.uk/topic/390-important-read-before-opening-a-compensation-request/

Compensation requests are fulfilled when the admins can get to them. Do not bump your request or pester an admin about it.

If you are asking for comp because of a rulebreaker, you must have report on file, without it your comp will be denied.

Inventory (T Items) will not be compensated. Before June 1st, T items were compensated because of an unstable build and the server constantly crashing. Now that the server is stable again, compensation for T items will be denied.

Make sure you have the exact value of your weapons/clothing/inventory items for your comp. Try to be exact, or else it may be denied.

Do not try to file a false compensation report, or else you will see yourself getting banned.
