Unban Appeal - Rupingle - GTA RP

rupingle

Los Santos Police
Los Santos Police
Location
United Kingdom

Server: GTA RP
Character Name: Jackson Redwood
Steam ID: 76561199017215377
Ban ID (just the numbers): 19838
Ban Reason: G4.5
Why do you think you were banned: I was banned due to breaking NLR as I took an officer hostage after being revived by NHS - My previous appeal gives some good context onto the whole situation - https://www.roleplay.co.uk/threads/unban-appeal-rupingle-gta-rp.428932
Why should we unban you: It's been just over 6 months since I've been banned and looking back on it. It was very stupid and easily avoidable. At the time of my ban, I had recently started to experience the crim side of the server after being a cop main since I joined RPUK. I hadn't really been put into that type of situation which lead to me being banned. I did want to spice up the regular arrest roleplay but as I said in my last appeal I went about it the wrong way. Since my ban I've reflected on my actions and I've understood where I went wrong and how in the future I can avoid situations like that from happening again. I do regret my actions, to play on RPUK is a privilege and my actions removed my right to continue playing. I'm hoping I can be given another chance to showcase some ideas I have across all my characters especially Mr Mable (Maybe some new characters as well)
Please confirm that you have read the unban appeal process and rules: Yes

Given how much we discussed back in March, I'd hoped you'd have more to write about. At least a demonstration of reflection, thought, and commitment to eliminating the precursors to your past mistakes. What you've written, although it says the right "buzz" words, lacks a clear message, content, substance, detail - you get the idea.

This comes across as "I'm sorry, please let me come back, I regret it". What we want to see is why you should be allowed to return; convince us. What have you done to try to earn your place back on the server?

Quite frankly, one important tone of your last appeal was that you claimed to have roleplay in mind and that you were a great roleplayer - I disagreed with these claims and highlighted why. You haven't touched on it at all; has nothing changed? It was the final message I sent you off with. Did you not reflect on it?

This is lacklustre; so, try again, and convince us why we should let you return.

Hey Scott, I appreciate the reply.

I do apologise, I didn't want this appeal to look like an exact copy of my last one. I find it hard to put my thoughts into words if you get what I mean.
What have you done to try to earn your place back on the server?
This is a hard question for me as I've taken a break from roleplay as a whole since my ban. I felt I needed a break since I did spend most of my free time on the server. However, after my ban I did speak to members of the community who gave me a good insight on where I went wrong and how I could in the future mitigate this happening again. I was at the time with a group of people who were really showing me the ropes of how high quality roleplay should look and feel like. I felt like I was going in the right direction with how I want to present myself on the server. I have some really cool ideas with the direction I want some of my characters to go if I am allowed back but as I always, I really enjoy going with the flow and seeing how situations can slowly develop the characters I am playing. I'm also a fan of exploring new roleplay avenues especially in the other factions of the server, I am contemplating bringing back my old NHS character if I haven't deleted him or even making a new one.

I still do believe I have roleplay in mind in all situations I am involved in, especially while I was a "cop main" I always had to think of new ideas to spice up the usual situations instead of the usual "robotic" policing but I think as I moved over to crim, I had a hard time transferring over my ideas and thinking of new ones as my time on the server has always been spent on the other side. I can understand why you disagreed as the situation which ended up with me being banned was absolutely terrible roleplaying from me. I've always tried to make it fun for both sides, win or not but unfortunately that day showed the complete opposite. Looking back there were loads more potential to change up the roleplay instead of taking an officer hostage, I could of let the story play out and see if any opportunities arise at a later date or even just let the story expand by it self.

It's been six months; I had hoped that during this time you would reflect on and understand the issues raised in your previous appeal, as well as how they relate to your history here. If you have nothing new to write about, has anything changed? If so, what have you learned? Where did you go wrong? How did you improve? Are there still flaws? What are your plans? If nothing has changed, is there any point in your return?

You've had ample time to prepare and write your appeal, and you didn't hesitate to appeal at the earliest opportunity.

You've shown some reflection on the situation that got you banned.
I can understand why you disagreed as the situation which ended up with me being banned was absolutely terrible roleplaying from me.
Which is good.

Another important tone of your last appeal was a consistent issue with repeating the same mistakes. Do you agree with that assessment? What steps have you taken to prevent this from happening in the future? How can we trust you? Should we trust you?

Reflecting back on my whole time on the server, it hasn't been smooth sailing but each time I believe I've bounced back in a positive way. I've always taken staffs input and concerns into consideration when returning. In my last appeal you mentioned my ban for C1.7, looking back I let my emotions get the better of me which was the wrong thing to do. We are playing a separate character and I shouldn't let my emotions get the better of me when interacting with other players. I should just relax and remember it's just a game and sometimes things will upset me. I believe all my bans were easily avoidable. When Dano unbanned me for the 2nd time, I put loads of my time into one of my characters and tried to push the best roleplay I could. We can't always be perfect but I believe my time spent on that characters development was well spent not only for myself but for the community as well. I think a notable achievement was helping the misfits lay the ground work for their terrorist storyline when they strapped a bomb to me which was great fun. This gave me loads more motivation to continuing to develop my roleplay skills. As always there will be flaws but I think taking criticism, owning up to mistakes and incorporating all of that is the best way I will continue improving myself.

I do agree with this assessment. I believe reflecting on my mistakes and noting what I did wrong has helped me from making these mistakes again, especially with the combat logging bans. If no NHS online, waiting 20 minutes to die is nothing compared to being banned for upwards of 3-6 months again. Trust is something which has to be earned and I think with my track record it will be hard but I'm willing to make steps towards this.

If I were to give you another chance, what would you do with it? What characters do you intend to play and/or create? What stories do you want to pursue? Anything fancy your interest?

And in this scenario of your return, I'll give you some situations and questions.

1. You are permanently banned again. Your ban stems from an issue we've already dealt with, C2.3, silly (but repetitive) mistakes, emotional regulation, etc. What punishment should you serve? In terms of appeal success, cooldowns, conditions, etc.

2. You are permanently banned again. Your ban stems from another issue, one we haven't dealt with before, which could be considered "new". What punishment should you serve? In terms of appeal success, cooldowns, conditions, etc.

Should the punishment, or "sentence", you serve be the same for both? If so, why? If not, why not?

My aim is to see how you evaluate these scenarios and what you deem a fair outcome based on your perspective.

I think my main focus would be continuing on with Jackson, before I got banned he had just left the police just over a month or two and was trying to find his way in the criminal world by joining Cypress which I personally think fits the Jackson persona. I know a lot has changed since I've been gone and I think continuing on with this storyline is the best option for that character, I do want to stay low, get Jacksons bearings back and see how I can develop the "ex cop" into a new age criminal.

I do have another character named Arthur Mable who has given himself a name around the city as an old crazy man committing crime, he was my "mess around" character while Jackson was in the police. I would hop on him to have a little fun committing small crime around the city but I really want to dive deeper and flip the narrative surrounding his name. I think my goal with this character is to push a more relaxed, interactive type roleplay while keeping that crazy vibe Arthur has. I think slowly descending into madness would be a fun storyline to pursue on this character with way less crime as I usually would do.

I do have a solicitor character who eventually joined the police but at the time I wasn't really enjoying playing on him so I didn't really do much with him. This might be something I am interested in trying again or even moving him to G6/NHS.

I think my main goal overall would be focusing on Jackson and Arthur, seeing where I can take those characters and what storylines I can pursue.

If correct protocol is not followed for C2.3, like making staff aware via a ticket if something has happened like Wifi going down or having an emergency and having to disconnect. I believe it should be no chance to appeal, I've already had two chances for this and I think it would be rude to even ask for another. For the rest I think having a set cooldown to appeal with little chance to come back, touch wood I never end up on this section of the forums again.

I think this should follow the FBS in my opinion but as always if I end up on here again with a perm ban, I believe I should be held accountable for my actions and it should be very hard for me to come back if not impossible for me to come back.

Should the punishment, or "sentence", you serve be the same for both? If so, why? If not, why not?
This is a hard question to answer. I think they should be different but also taking into account my history with bans, I think it should be fair but also firm on myself

I appreciate your response and the responses before this.

I'll make it clear, I'm willing to give you one last shot. If you fuck up, it's on you, and you'll find we won't be willing to take a chance on you any further. These are my conditions for your entry:

If you are banned for C2.3, or in another incident similar to the ones that led to your previous bans (assessed on contextual circumstances, case-by-case), permanently, your chance to appeal will be slim to none. There will be an automatic one-year cooldown for appeals, and even then, there is no guarantee you will return. Simply put, we've given you 9 months to learn, and if you haven't, you're not worth our time. Is this understood?

If you are banned permanently for an incident for which we've not dealt with you before, you will have the opportunity to appeal three months after the ban. Your chances of return will be based on the staff team's confidence and trust in you, your roleplay, and the nature of your offences. If it is clear you are a lost cause, we will not waste our time. If it is clear there's more to it, we may give you a shot at redemption. Is this understood?

I hope that you stay out of trouble, especially within the first six months. And these conditions should surely encourage (and incentivise) you to stay on the straight and narrow. If they don't, I don't know what will. If you want my advice, if you're not 100% sure what you're about to do doesn't break a rule, don't, for the love of God, do it.

Please let me know if you understand these conditions and whether you accept them. If you have any questions or uncertainty, please ask.

Thank you Scott, I appreciate you taking your time with this appeal and giving me another shot. I accept these conditions they are more than fair.

Thank you again!

In which case, welcome back. Please don't make me regret this; I hope to hear positive news when your name comes up.
