Though he was a law abiding citizen he was a soldier for peace. Diligent and stalwart in his beliefs to the end.
The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.
The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.
But in a large sense we cannot dedicate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract.
The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all.The brave however never die, though they sleep in dust for their courage is greater than a thousand living men.
The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of those who remember.
