Allow running whilst in handcuffs & zipties.

Brief Summary:

Allow players who are restrained to run around without being forced into walking around.

Detailed Suggestion:

Currently, once you are cuffed/ziptied you are completely stuck wherever you are in a sense as you are not going to get all that far walking, at least if the other player is paying the slightest bit of attention to you. There should be a good use for the escort function, to stop players from doing this in the first place.

For one, this would be realistic in a sense that people would be able to run around without their hands IRL. Then, if the police did get foot restrains, it would make the player only be able to walk around, keep the balance for all players in that scenario.

I understand the cons and want to explain them briefly. Police will lose more cuffed suspects, but why should this really be a con? Police don't have to win once they cuff someone, and they do have a variety of avenues they could take to stop this from happening.

Overall, the ability to run whilst restrained would make sense from a police POV, and a criminal POV, potentially with the chance to fall over flat on your face if you're running in restraints, and it should take a while to stand back up, though make it a low chance.

The Pros:

- Somewhat more realism leading to more immersion.
- Allows for some potentially more interesting longterm roleplay (warrants for escaping etc)

The Cons:

- Police would lose more... and they probably wouldn't want to.

Does this suggestion change balance on the server ?

Technically, yes. The police and criminals would lose the people they have in restraints more often due to this, leading to items that may have been removed from the circulation may stay within the circulation.

It's a great idea, however there shouldn't be a chance of falling over when running, only if the ability to jump while cuffed is added since you need your arms for balance to jump. While you do need your arms for balance to run, having them behind your back doesn't really affect this balance. So I think the chance to fall over should only happen if one tries to jump while cuffed or ziptied.

I think this would be a great addition as it’s very one sided once someone is in cuffs and 9/10 police always manage to run after you and just escort you to their car. Definitely a great suggestion altogether!

This is an amazing idea imo. it makes sense not just from a realism point but also allows for the possibility of more foot chases with cops.

don't see why not, gives a bit of a extra challenge for police in certain situations

If the chance of falling down while running in handcuffs/zipties would be high enough then I would agree on this. The arms give you more balance then you may think while running.

It would be annoying for not only police but for hostage takers aswell if this is not balanced right.

I would agree, but would say the chances of them tripping etc would need to be high, for example obviously they couldnt climb etc while being in cuffs and they wouldnt be able to run as fast. +1 to make it fair for both sides.

@Katelyn West to make it fair on both sides??? Police already have tasers to use when someone is running away in cuffs.
I am saying make it realistic as irl if your in cuffs your going to fall and not be able to jump over things. Sounds like a great idea if made realisitc with running speeds etc.

Balanced right ? If you’ve taken a hostage and got them in ties all you need to do is have a gun to their head to value their life, same goes for police they have tasers you can be tased, you can run and jump once anyway even without cuffs and the fact you’re cuffed or zipped you’re already at a disadvantage because you can’t even defend yourself.

So there is literally nothing to balance, you’re just running it’s not like you have a 100% chance to escape, most you’re getting is probably about 5%

Have you ever tried to run with your arms behind you ? Or jumping with your hands behind you, yes there is an element of balance with having arms at your sides and ready but it’s generally doable to do these things. Police already have an advantage over you firearm or not, panic buttons exist, non lethal options exist, the person is only being allowed to run and jump, not swing or nut you with their forehead.

I’ve seen man on road running like usain bolt in cuffs so if you’re on about realism with running speeds then a way around that could be done with your stamina , which is already a thing in the game giving different distances of running

My personal opinion, and I have police main character. I don't tase people for running away in cuffs, no need for that. I mean, I would say that if you get tased while in cuffs and the officer obviously can "grab you" by the arms to escort you back to a safe location instead, you are likely to have a good outcome from a complaint at police station 😄

Tbf, from some replies here already I can see this turning into something toxic for the game.

This will never be a fair subject there is 2 sides to it and either you mean it or not, the message about the police "wanting to win" mentally will be always involved.

For me, I don't see the reason to change the current state.

The point is to allow a fairer outcome for people that don’t get supplied free guns / tasers / a response team of 12+ to a traffic stop cuz someone backs out a shovel on accident. This is a simple feature a simple extra step for police to deal with.

it’s also a role play element, something that ppl seek out for, how are you meant to be stiff as hell just bcus you’re cuffed it doesn’t make sense. You have way more movement in real life when you have your hands tired or cuffed. So why not here make it more realistic, make it fair.

if feds have a win mentality let them try to get a win as a challenge at least

I wouldn't be opposed to handcuffed/zip-tied characters being able to get up to jogging speed, but not sprinting speed.   It gives the cunning an opportunity to find a good moment to hide.

This is why you keep an eye on your hostage or suspect, it’s the whole point of rp, same way someone had a gun pointed to your head irl they wouldn’t just take an eye off you whilst you’re cuffed or zipped

Meh, should be normal running speed imo. Why are you suddenly slower now that you're restrained?

There are three speeds.  Walking, jogging, and sprinting.  Sprinting moves your centre of balance forward and you use your arms to counter the movements of your legs.  We also have to remember this is a game and it's certainly going to not be fun for hostage takers or cops if every 2 seconds their prisoner somehow sprints away as if they're Sonic the Crackhead.

With jogging it gives you a decent amount of movement speed to be able to get away/hide, I certainly would have benefited from being able to job away in cuffs today but the walking allowed me to get caught.

@Snoops Tell me a time when you go to a turf and don't see someone dealing crack? We're all crackheads here, so why not run like one.

I think it's a good idea but shouldn't be a full speed run as technically you need your arms to run as fast as you can. On a separate note the ability to headbutt while cuffed would be good.. 😃
