This suggestion is 1 that has definitely been made in the past but not too recently from what i can see so ill chuck it up because the server has changed very significantly in the past 3-6 months and the criminal scene is dying rapidly and with not many signs of improvement (all of this is my opinion and obviously im not omnipenant and know all so do take that ito account).

I think with the way the server is currently, this suggestion would be a massive step in the right direction for bringing the crim life back to being somewhat decent. As it stands it is now been normalised for police to focus too much on realism in the sense of sit back, take pictures of plates then without a word being spoken to you you now have multiple points on vehicles and driving license. This for me is 1 of the leading causes of the rapid decline in the criminal scene cause it promotes this mentality of "winning". At this point there is literally 0 counter from crims to this new "meta" way of ramping up points on cars and licenses, essentially soft-banning people with minimal rp provided and while i understand this is perfectly normal IRL but in the server that is played via GTA a criminal scene is needed and with the amount of irl time that is required to get everything they get including cars is mind boggling especially considering the fact that all of that can get taken off you with minimal rp provided (this is just my experiance).

Down to the actual suggestion, i believe this would be the best way for criminals to have at least some control over the fact that vehicles and driving license points that are getting plastered on countless people and demotivating a lot of people. This suggestion would elevate the roleplay that crims are able to provide, cause there are many ways in which these could be gathered, either through just a shop or through actual rp scenarios and i believe its rp that the crim side is desperately needing. I believe this would promote racing and actually engage in pursuits cause there is an actual reason to not shoot and instead just flea, this would also combat alot of the reasoning for chasing developing into shootouts plus instead of RPU and RCT just giving points with minimal rp they would then have the rp line of finding out where the fake plates come from and actually figure out the identity of the driver and car and this would come with more satisfaction on both sides IMO.

As for how this could be implemented, I can see a few avenues.

1 - I believe to be a worse scenario but probably easiest for implementation and that is just making them available to buy from AE or benny's, This would allow for some RP but then also wouldn't really bring as much rp as the other options IMO.

2 - i believe they could be brought through the likes of Cypress, Collective and Outcasts. This would bring alot of RP through these groups and give them a bit of a direction that they could explore if they are willing of course. Cypress, i believe it is obvious they are the biggest/ only racing group in the server it makes so much sense and is very obvious but gives them something for sticking to being car related. As for Collective and outcasts, these relatively new groups can get an avenue of high-quality RP they can go down and make a mark on the server and give more purpose and direction cause there really isnt much to do on criminal and this would elevate the level of rp that can be provided both crim on crim and crim to police.

3- as for the third it would be as simple as taking the plates off a local car with a specific % chance for it to succeed.

I believe out of all these options, 2 is by far my preferred method as it would greatly increase the amount of rp that can be provided.

As for the "counter" to the fake plates idea it would be as simple as getting the VIN so as long as the car with fake plates is driving about anpr and speed cameras would not bat an eye but if police ever get hands on the car it would be easy to identify the owner, could even have an animation for getting the VIN so that CID or UC assets can covertly try and get it without being too powerful. It also goes without saying that having a fake plate would involve new punishments/legislation but then i believe this gives more rp to feds.

Pros -
-a shit ton more rp created
- an easy way for crims to enjoy the server more

Cons -
- the obvious dev work
- police having to adapt to the new system

I am welcome to any ideas or improvements that can be made to this suggestion.

Would love to say that I've actually been pitching this EXACT idea to my group the last few weeks, saying once we get recognised we should bring this forward. Our garage that we're aiming to get keys for eventually has a box on the floor for fake ID's, and a car lift inside. So we've been saying how cool it'd be to bring something unique like fake plates & fake ID's that is very exclusive to certain groups.

Anyway, +1 on this suggestion, would love to see it come to light whether that's through our group or others.

Cheers for mentioning the Collective in here too, it's awesome to know our name came to mind when thinking of who would be a good fit for this.

Had no idea about this icl, but im glad that i put the suggestion in the cause i felt like it would suit your group's RP style

I personally think fake plates could be a welcome addition to the server.

In my opinion though, wherever there are pros, there should be cons.

I think the punishment for committing crimes while utilizing fake plates should be heftier in some regard, whether that be through a x2 on charges or coming with its own ruleset of how points are applied depending on what crime is committed.

There are multiple ways this could be implemented on to the server, whether that is via a whitelisted group or business, or a 'dodgy doctor' type of mechanic NPC that changes location and you have to pay a hefty sum for the plate to be changed to a local one for a singular storm. Which could also open the potential for adding a way to break open the safes of police/g6 cars for a certain amount of money where luck isn't always guaranteed.

Fake plates in and of themselves should be illegal and punishable if you are discovered to be using them. If they only last a storm and heavier sentences/punishments are given, this would stop criminals from mindlessly changing them for nothing but free benefits.

I think a way to balance them would be that you avoid speeding tickets while having one applied and that you are undetectable to speed cameras in the sense that police wouldn't be alerted to the fact that you have a fake plate on your car while going through them but the 'downside' would be that if a police officer runs the plate of your car while nearby and no details of who the owner of the vehicle is provided, this would incite them to investigate further via a traffic stop which means you'd have to use them at your own risk and avoid police presence while having one applied to your car.

There are many ways that a fake plate can be utilized and this doesn't necessary always involve the police or activities such as robbing a bank etc, this would be helpful in a criminal vs criminal scenario as well, whether that be from robberies or other disputes towards an opposite gang/group, where your intentions are to try and hide your identity, preventing them from being able to grab a police officer, find out who owns the car and have that information easily available to them.

All in all, I think it's a good concept at its core and would offer a lot of roleplay ranging from gang/group relations, being smarter with conceiving plans for criminal activities and providing traffic police with chases/giving police investigative and interrogation roleplay to find out how these plates were acquired and who from.

+1 from me.

Very good concept that would work well in the server. Even for police, it'd open up a whole new stream of roleplay to investigate how theyre acquired, created, who distributes them etc.

Best idea is definitely the 2nd, where certain groups could get given a bench or workstation where they create "blank plates" with a new crafting recipe, then they could sell a blank new plate to players, and the players could go to specific dealerships or the same groups to get the plates printed with fake info.

As much as I'd love for Cypress to have sole or primary control over fake plates, there's enough things locked behind a group or faction and this shouldn't be one IMO, though I wouldn't say no and seems the consensus is okay with that.

If it were to be then as said above a crafting recipe for blank plates which could be printed on somewhere later would be pretty cool or just having to type out what you want it to say when crafting.

I'd rather see it released as some sort of illegal modification place where maybe you can get other upgrades like harnesses and NOS (boosting update?).

Either way they shouldn't be too cheap to avoid being used constantly and should come with some decent penalties like a set amount of point or a multiplier on points like how it is for bank jobs

I agree wholeheartedly why i think having 2-3 groups having access gives alot more rp avenues for alot of groups to explore it could even just be as simple as 1 group makes them and the other prints them but i believe that would be detremental if 1 conflict started.

i do agree that a bigger update is needed but especially with some recent events and the desperate need for something soon i suggested it in isolation cause something is needed and would be faster 1 at a time.

Thanks for your feedback i didn't have too many ideas for how to "balance so to speak" mainly cause im suggesting to balance the meta of driving licsense points aswell as vehicle but it would need to be balanced in itself

I love this idea and I personally think the roleplay this would bring to so many groups would be great.

I agree with Adam as much as it makes sense for Cypress to be the main group to control the flow of '' fake plates '' it wouldn't be ideal.
However something like a ''skill level'' implemented by doing races and once your at the max level you can then start crafting these fake plates at a public bench. ( just an idea of course ).

Also thank you for mentioning Outcasts :)

This is true and could be a good step along the new whitelisting path staff have started using by giving new groups access to a semi-exclusive resource / item

Balancing would be complicated as I think it should be cheap enough that they're worth using on some occasions / certain cars nearing scrapping, but expensive enough that they aren't used on every car you own as this makes it harder and more tiring for police if every car has a fake plate

+1. To give it a twist would be awesome that you could custom the numbers you get... but deffo a bright idea.
