"Mafia is a process, not a thing. Mafia is a form of clan-cooperation to which its individual members pledge lifelong loyalty. Friendship, connections, family ties, trust, loyalty and obedience -- this was the glue that held us together." - Joseph Bonanno

If there ever was a code of silence, an idea of honour and loyalty, it’s disappeared a generation or two ago. It was a phenomenon, the Cosa Nostra experience - but it has played itself out. You see guys breaking the oath, more & more arrests racking up each year, but even still, it’d be a mistake to ignore their presence in the modern day.

Within the sphere of organised crime, the midwest of the United Kingdom has always played some sort of role. Both Birmingham and Coventry, the more dominant presence of Organised Crime in the midwest, have been involved with the illegal skimming of money from casinos in the West Midlands area. Information from wiretaps and other eavesdropping in the mid to late 1980’s concluded that high level members of Birmingham and Coventry crime families, with assistance from Northern and Southern mobsters, were involved with key people of various casinos, one such was the Grosvenor Casino.

With a foundation already built on the west of the United Kingdom, the systematic invasion of Los Santos was relatively easy for midwest crime families. While Los Santos’ criminal underworld was and still is more dominated by ethnic street gangs, the traditional organised crime has always had some sort of push and pull on the streets. Textile City located in Los Santos can closely be related to New York City’s garment district and like New York’s garment district, Textile City has had its fair share of organized crime interference. Various law enforcement agencies believe that individuals from the West Midlands based Burger Bar Boys have been operating in and around Textile City, extorting local merchants and using fronts to launder the money made from their illicit dealings.

Rumours of West Midlands interference with the Los Santos underworld have been around since the early 1990’s but were never substantiated with fact. It is however, more apparent now that law enforcement from both West Midlands and Los Santos both have publicly stated that they are aware of several individuals within the West Midlands Organised Crime scene who have moved from the midwest to Los Santos. Statements have also been made that neither agency knows the exact reason as to why these individuals have transitioned from city to city. The names of the individuals in question have not been made public but there has been major speculation as to these individuals within the organised crime expert community. Gary Jenkins, former Intelligence Officer within Birmingham law enforcement and now documentarian has publicly stated that he believes that a one, Nathan “The Cheat” Porter has made his way to Los Santos.

Former Intelligence Officer Gary Jenkins has also stated that he believes with Porter’s movement to Los Santos we can expect his associates to follow suit and join him over at Los Santos. Porter and his associates are believed to be heavily involved with book making and gambling.

As the midwest invasion of Los Santos continues, both agencies from both cities speculate that the transition for the criminal underworld will be rocky. In recent months individuals from the crew now dubbed after its suspected killings, Hitsquad , have been seen interacting with known made members of another crew which were active in and around the Los Santos neighbourhood, Mirror Park. Their relationship with said crew as of yet is unknown and it is believed that the Mirror Park Crew has disappeared into an empty void with individuals fleeing to their home states or just amalgamating into the Los Santos underworld. No deaths have been tied to the crews disappearing act, only that bad blood between several other unnamed Los Santos based organisations remain.
