Everyone struggles to find a house.

Even though if they don't pay there rent house get taken off them and that's fine. But then there a race for everyone to get one.

Realised every time i go looking there building/doors that are unavailable to buy.

Good idea to start making more places to buy more variety for everyone. Like adding load of apartments in them massive buildings doing nothing.

It would be good to have like apartments in eclipse towers etc but there is something about the current structure i really like  -1 from me

Honestly it goes up and down all the time.
Right now there's over 1k houses occupied, just a month and a half ago that was down to 800, and there were empty apartments and houses all over.

It's about patience.

As people have said above, I also agree it is fine as it is. 
 

I can tell you. It is way better now, than a year ago. House tax became a thing last year and it evicts people who dont play/pay. Be patient and look on tweedle or auctionroom and you would find a house with no problem!
