Improvements to Taco and Fast Food Vans

So something I have been thinking for a while is how could people be given more opportunities to give good quality RP within a legal setting in the food industry. I have seen some chatter lately in Discord and the forums about this and there was a suggestion that there may have been a bug stopping people from making things in fast food and taco vans. The bug was closed off as it seemed like the current setup is how it was originally designed, so I have finally decided to put in this suggestion. I have also noticed that food businesses aren't really open very often so I think this suggestion would open more RP opportunities for individuals.

When purchasing a fast food van months ago, I was surprised that you could not create a lot of dishes that I feel would be logically possible.

I am therefore suggesting that taco and fast food vans be given the ability to make more dishes from start (raw materials), to finished dishes. Some examples could include:

• Burgers
• More fish dishes (This would also give an incentive to owning a boat and doing fishing)
• Hot dogs
• Doughnuts
• Basic pasta dishes
• Smoothies
• Jacket potatoes

Also giving the ability to name the created dishes would be great so that it can allow individual branding which would further enhance the RP.

To be clear, I am not suggesting that complex dishes (like the dishes where you create the base and then add multiple ingredients on top) be made available to the vans as these are unique to restaurants in the city. But I do feel it is both logical and reasonable for these vans to be able to prepare and create more dishes as IRL, many fast food vans exist where these dishes can be made.

Pros

• More RP opportunities for legal businesses
• Adds a layer of realism for these vans
• Provides more of a market for these vans
• If things like fish dishes are added, this gives more of an incentive to buy a boat and go fishing, thus allowing more RP in these areas

Cons

• Dev work

seeing as i closed off the bug report i have checked and you can 100% make hotdogs in the taco van and food truck
not showing the recipe of course but you can defiantly make them

Thanks for checking, although some of the components for the hot dog cannot be made in the vans, which I think needs to be added as a feature so that you can make these dishes from scratch.

i would argue that it makes sense that you can't make *everything* in a fast food van for a hotdog, i don't know of many places here in denmark atleast where they make anything from scratch(maybe except cutting onions and the like), would also bring more RP to other people as you'd need them to help you get stuff


+1 regardless on the suggestion as i can understand people want to do it all by themselves, and i'm fine with that in the long run

From working closely with Kebab Shop Dave years ago - love the idea of helping out mobile caterers, it's great fun to do and generally well received by customers.

Should all components of the hot dog need to be accessible and able to be cooked/prepared in the back of a food truck?

I think it would add some depth if mobile caterers were to seek out suppliers for various ingredients.

For example, donuts are often something cooked fresh and to order from mobile caterers - so it would make sense to have access to create these at the van.
However, hot dogs are a bit more complex and involve ingredients you wouldn't typically see being made or prepared fresh on site.

So whilst I agree that it would be good to see more items being able to be made from a food truck, I would also disagree that every ingredient of some of the items you've listed be accessible to be prepared/cooked in a food truck.


Hope to see a resurgence in food trucks though!

I mean this is a good idea.
Being able to buy "hot dog bread" from shops or wearhouses would be great. Maybe even do deals with different restaurants etc in the city.


I think that a lot of things could be created in the taco and good truck van.

But being able to buy ingredients from different shops and wearhouses would bring so much more RP to the server.



Fish, meat and a lot of veggies is easy to pick up or hunt your self.

You can it's just rare someone really reaches out to the warehouse to buy goods like that who aren't a business already, tho there's also trying to keep a fair balance of not just cutting the shops and restaurants out completely, like I'm not going to sell someone 10 bags of talkers they can go to a shop for that, but if they have a reason to buy 3000 sure I can do that haha

Also there's supposed to be a balance of foods from the taco vans and resteraunts, but there's plenty of things that nobody has figured out yet and the food update has been live a year, again without too much info I know that only 1/5th of the recapies have been discovered for a certain way of obtaining foods so there's still plenty out there that people haven't worked out yet, that and maybe your not as good a cook as you could be

Unfortunately I think alot of people got too hooked into the soups and forgot to discover the rest of this part of the food update

I get the fact people want more stuff that's fairs. However, its hard enough getting people down to restaurants in the first place.... let alone if people could make their own stuff etc. Therefore I do not think this would be healthy for the server at all. I am in agreeance with Nikolai on the comment regarding the fact that it makes sense that you cannot make everything. It would be a shame to see people making everything as previously stated due to the lack of RP that comes with that but just my opinion. Let us know what you think? Cheers
