In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.
The first reason that I was banned was for 2.2 so RDM, I pulled a weapon out and attempted to fire during an rp interaction without fully making clear my intent do so first. It was a situation where myself and others had been caught without licences over the border and I didn't fully think through my actions as I did not want to be caught without a license with the items I had on me at the time. I was of the belief at the time that in a situation like that it would be reasonable to attempt to fire if it was a choice between that and losing out on a large sum, however I now understand that this is obviously not the case.
The other reason (1.2), discrimination is I think the main reason for the ban. The situation I was banned for was an interaction with some Poseidon cartel members and a group I was with. It was a fairly aggressive roleplay as the Poseidon cartel had caught us without any passes to be in the area and with good reason the lead poseidon member was being particularly aggressive towards us. We were a group of reasonably new players, which I know isn't a reason, but we hadn't encountered this previously so we acted as we thought was appropriate to the situation. Once we were "suppressed", I was tied up and made a comment which I thought which was allowed within the context of roleplay. The member of the cartel was asking why my group had attempted to resist and I was stating I didn't know why and stated "sometimes it be your own nibbas".
What have you been upto in the last 6 months+ ?
It has not been six months as this is my first appeal, it has however been a few weeks. In the meantime I have been playing some other games and in the last few days have been more fully reviewing the rules so that I do not make any further mistakes if I do get unbanned.
Why do you want to return ?
I want to return to the server because although I had only been playing for a few days I'd been greatly enjoying my experience on the server and had committed quite a few hours to the server in those few days. No other servers really held any appeal to myself other than this one as I'd really enjoyed the community and the way the server operated during my time on there.
Why should we unban you ?
I have fully reread the server rules and have taken a look at some other ban appeals to gain a better understanding of what is counted as RDM and the proper rules of engagement on the server if you are going to use a weapon. I will leave this here for my explanation on why I should be unbanned on this front because I believe the 1.2 is obviously the main reason.
I was banned for saying "sometimes it be your own nibbas." I fully understand that this could be construed and has been seen as discriminatory language, thus violating rule 1.2. However, at the time I considered this to not be directly discriminatory as it was not directed at an individual person outside of my group and as I saw it as a relaxed form of the word that is not seen in the same way. Of course I now realise that the server does not see it this way so and I fully understand this, as such if I was unbanned I would of course not use this language again on the server.
I will however briefly explain why I said what I did, I had read the rules and seen the one on discrimination but the later rule stating that offensive/swear words were allowed within roleplay led me to believe that within the context of roleplay such language would have been allowed. As the encounter we were in had involved a fair bit of offensive language already I presumed that this would also be allowed, it was not intended as an out of roleplay or personal comment. Nonetheless I now fully understand that this is entirely unacceptable on any level so if I was to be unbanned I would not act in such a way again.
