Punishment too harsh?

A friend got banned for having a racist name (unintentionally). After researching the English meaning of the word he found out what it meant, and he realized why he got banned. Lesson learned - no hard feelings.

But I would just like to ask the community if the punishment is fitting? I personally would like Admins or Mods to warn you first. What do you guys think?

Ofcourse not, in life you must take responsibility as an adult. Saying you did not know is like saying you didn't know you couldn't RDM people you know? Make an appeal, apologise, move on. If he wants to complain, why not let him step forward and make a post instead of coward behind his friends.
