Random desth whilst driving and robbed by Ling

So after a night when one of our team mates (Doug) managed to somehow crash and destroy two of our Hemmits and a chopper after copper mining (Yep they were full and processed.) we decided to go to the casino. 

I met a lovely couple of rebel chaps who presented me with their truck and a few bits of gear... As I was driving away, I blew up. I was driving like a tit, fair enough but it does seem a bit of a random instant death. Is that shit normal? Did I hit a bit of wall? (I have checked and I don't think so.)
