Realistic Economy

There was a suggestion a while ago, if I remember correctly, on a way to make the current economy seem more realistic, and it was down to moving the decimal point on all monetary points in the server.

It was a great suggestion, but I don't remember it getting traction, and I think It was a while ago so I would like to re-raise it.

So its basically you move the decimal one place to the left so that prices are more realistic.

Examples

If you have £5,000,000 in the bank, you would have £500,000
The price of powdered milk would go from £10 to £1
The price of a litre of petrol would go from £4 to £0.40
The price of a smoothie would go from £300 to £30 (still a bit crazy)
Supercar would go from £2,000,000 to £200,000

Pros - This would give a more realistic feel to the UK prices within the server
Cons - Dev Time and People getting used to the new pricing

With a server wipe on top of this would be good but just doing this whilst sounding like a good idea other than it looking realistic has no real effect on the playing of the server

i think one thing that we're overlooking here is the scale of a change like this, we're talking about rebalancing every payout and warehouse price as well if this change were to be implemented.
Some things will not be as simple as shifting a decimal point.

Understood, it will probably be a mammoth task, it would be a nice QoL but I understand its probably reaching

As nice as this is. I'd prefer devs work on other things, their time is limited and if this meant missing out on more fun ideas, I'd say no for now.

The last time I changed all numbers in one of our database tables from an INT to a BIGINT the database query took 23 minutes... There is no way I am changing the type from BIGINT to DECIMAL since that would definitely take like 45 mins for one of the many tables that would need updating 💀

would there be another way to do it that would be easier, just for realism, not a biggy if not

Yes.

The People control the pricing of a lot of things.

The People charge less for their goods.

Just to note, this would also be a massive scale operation and require a lot of agreeing parties.

Yes, this doesn't effect things like import pricing but it gives the Team something to think about.

The price levels mainly comes from the last leg.

I will give you an example.

General Warehouse -> Repairkit = 200£
Noble Wholesale gets it at = 150£ aka 25% Discount.
To compete with the GW, Noble sets price at 190£

This is a GPP at 21% ish. Within that GPP, Noble pays its employees 20k per 1000 moved Repairkit. This is 20£ per repairkit moved.
Due to the weight, moving a repairkit is worth 10£ more than a basic items that is 10£ to move.

This makes the Warehouse 20£ per repairkit.
Now, this seems like enough right?
No.. there are other items that only gives 3£, 7£ or 10£ profit. This means moving it is a loss for the warehouse. So other prices, like the repairkit helps carry this so that ATLEAST the workers gets a fair wage. Its faaaar to complex to explain here and probably is an easier way to deal with hah. But i hope you understand. And its gotta cover the transport fee that is a flat 10k

But then, here is the kicker.

Warehouse 190£ -> EXAMPLE Little Soul Fuel, Repairkit 355£..

So its the end shop, end place the brings the prices up.. anyhew, contact NWL for good pricings.

cheeky little ad, love it 😜

as for the suggestion; too much effort for too little reward dev time wise. Server wipe also won't work, the server population is already on a decline and this would make that worse. there's other things that dev work could be focussed on to revert that which is way more important.

Noooo not a add <insert buisness card> *call me for great deals* but it very true me and Silas were having this conversation last night

I agree that a server econ wipe would just make alot of other players give up, unless it was done like a certain other city I won't name where it was like a wipe because it was a rebuild of the entire city and code

I don't think we need to move the decimal tbf I just imagine it that way anyway haha

T o there are way to many that are only focused on makeing the most cash

In my shop the profit margins on most items are like 50/100 but I pay the workers a percent of that profit and I also pay them a additional percent of the sale if done over the counter with RP and then add the tax so alot of items I make maybe £10 profits on exempt cobb salad which is like pure profit tbf as the cost to make 1 is around £150ish if you buy everything or like £12 if you gather the bits yourself

Essential where I'm aiming for is the balance the economy you would need to convince everybody to re evaluate prices and make a fair pricing like a RRP

aldo tbf it don't help when places that do things like sell cars for 1m+ when they cost under 100k to order in 😂

Has this not been done already? Prices seem spot on - Fish and Chips going for around £1300.
Ehhh kinda a loss maker

2 cod are around £1050 if sold to bait n tackle
Then the other materials needed are if bought
£520
But you can gather all the other mats needed if you like

£1300 - 20% is £260 so you would make £10 more selling the cod to the shop 😂 I know it shouldnt be looked at this way but most people will look at it like this
