Please (in detail) describe the incident

Hi,

The situation began after a Prowler with a single passenger drove through the south checkpoint at high speed. Poseidon members at checkpoint instantly jumped into vehicles to pursue. On the radio we hear that a crash had occurred shortly after (link 1). The Prowler is disabled further up the road with the officer attempting to repair. We jump on this officer and ask him to stop repairing the vehicle so we can put him in zipties.

We are successful in doing so and escort the officer into an open area for a helicopter pickup. Behind myself and the hostage a Taru full of Armed Response comes into land and completely side-swipes the both of us. It takes me a good 10 seconds or so to get back onto my feet whereupon my intentions were to just continue the situation and place the hostage into a Poseidon vehicle. Before I was even able to get up, the Taru backs up at ground level. Running the officer and I both over again, killing us this time. (link 2)

Now under normal circumstances after having spoken to parties in liaison I'm usually up for resolving it right there and then, however in this situation the officers decided that since they had arrived on scene "in force" that they would go ahead and take the now downed officer from us despite the, frankly, 3 VDMs that had occured prior. Frankly I don't agree with how this situation was handled in the slightest and would like to prevent such things happening in the future.

Hi there,

Bit confused as to why this report was put up after our discussion in the liaison room, whereby I apologised for by poor flying and explained that I was attempting to avoid the Poseidon MH-9 from crashing deliberately into my rotors which caused the second collision which you said was fine and you would not be taking it any further, but alas;

I was flying a Taru and received a call of distress from an officer on the ground, who was only a short distance away from where I was. I flew my Taru over to the situation and attempted a combat landing to allow officers on the bench to immediately jump off to attempt to aid Ponty, however, my landing was somewhat poor as it was too rushed for such a large, heavy vehicle and so I admit 100% fault for the collision which took place between the Taru as well as yourself and Ponty (which I apologised for in the liaison room, explaining I had not combat landed a Taru in a good while).

In regards to the second collision, you can see my POV here: https://plays.tv/video/5cec4aadaf479e6f5a/mh9?from=user
The Poseidon MH-9 attempted to hover above my Taru almost immediately after I landed, and a rather low-quality initiation came from a Poseidon member who was sprinting around in circles stating something along the lines of "if any of you pull a weapon you will be shot" I attempted to evade the low flying MH-9 as it seemed to me that bullets would start flying and the situation was clearly escalating. I misjudged how close the ground was, and was too focused on manoeuvring away from the MH-9 to the extent that I did not notice/realise I would hit people on the ground through moving my Taru backwards the way I did, and so, unfortunately, I hit both you and Ponty, killing you. After which, the MH-9 flew into my rotor blades deeming the Taru inoperable. After I realised I had hit you both I immediately apologised in-game and requested medics come to the area to provide first aid. (https://gyazo.com/1482f87fd54764073bf54d9804dfb6bc

I did not intend for any of the actions to happen, and acted accordingly in game by attempting to get medical attention for yourself, informing a Poseidon member who had loaded you into their vehicle that the nearest medic was at the South Checkpoint.

Cheers,
Shuttle

I find it hard to believe that the medical support was for myself rather than your downed officer, especially since your first words that I heard after you got out of the helicopter were along the lines of "What is that hummingbird doing", suggesting that the Poseidon pilot was to blame here. I couldn't really disagree more, in the liaison you mentioned that you were tunnel visioned on that hummingbird and not paying any attention to the 6? people clearly standing behind you, but from my standpoint you had plenty of opportunities to land your helicopter or fly in a different direction - as opposed to right into a crowd, two of which you'd already landed on and knocked over - meaning you knew full well they were there.

I'd appreciate if you didn't deviate the topic onto something rather unrelated to the situation (Poseidon's initiation there) when the real problems here are you plowing your Taru into people and then making a decision to take the downed officer right there rather than taking into account what you'd just done.

[...]whereby I apologised for by poor flying and explained that I was attempting to avoid the Poseidon MH-9 from crashing deliberately into my rotors which caused the second collision[...]
Hi Shuttle, I’ll keep it short to avoid derailing the main discussion. I was piloting the Poseidon MH-9. I have manoeuvred helicopters a bit in the past. I have taught the Police how to effectively fly the MH-9 as DNPAS. I might not be great but it’s what I do. Secondly, anyone who have interacted with me would most likely agree that I don’t push the game to its limits to gain an advantage as many do, I don’t mind “loosing”. I would never “crash deliberately into” anyone and I’m sorry to read that you feel like I did.

As I’m sure you agree (?), there is a fine balance between successfully rotor-blocking and actually VDM’ing the helicopter below you. The main difference is the altitude you maintain. If you are performing a rotor-block manoeuvre and decrease your altitude downwards into the main rotor(s) of the helicopter below you then you are at risk of VMD’ing said helicopter. I have performed this manoeuvre many times and as always I maintained my altitude, in fact, at one point I actually gain altitude from 7 > 8 meters.

If you had kept the helicopter in it’s position, parked on the ground, then it would not have VDM’d the guys on the ground a 2nd time nor would the rotors have been clipped by my helicopter. You decided to evade my manoeuvre - which resulted in your helicopter being disabled. That’s not me “crashing deliberately into” you.

I would have hoped you knew I’m not one for breaking rules but quite the opposite.

Now, let’s get back to the main discussion which Simon is handling.

Hey,

Thanks for posting this - it further reinforces my point that I was too focused on the hummingbird and attempting to evade it that I was unaware of how my Taru had hit people on the ground - I only realised that I had hit people after I got out of the helicopter cockpit, as it was unintentional.

I will not be further commenting/posting on this report unless requested to do so by staff.

Cheers,

Shuttle

Having reviewed the evidence, I believe that hitting ground troops, both police and posiedon, was most likely accidental.

That being said I am disappointing in the actions of the Police. Any advantage gained through a rule break, whether deliberate or accidental, should not be taken wherever possible. In the future please be mindful of this or sanctions will be used.

@Shuttle, given the accidental nature of this and your largely clean record, you will be receiving a warning. Please fly more carefully in the future, any more incidents like this will not be treated so lightly.

Thank you for doing your part in keeping the community clean.
