What best describes this incident: (G2.12) Poor Quality Roleplay | (G1.2) Random Death Match

Please (in detail) describe the incident: Police attempted to pull over a vehicle operated by who I was aware to be Steve Martin. The vehicle was at first compliant but then ran to another car and a chase started. From this point onwards no communication was had between police and the suspects.

During the incident there was 2 times where Steve Martin changed vehicle and the police made no attempt to stop this. The police were mainly made up of RPU officers and the chase was enjoyable enough for us to allow it to play out.

After the 1st Vehicle change, the T20 operated by Connor Martin struck a police bike, knocking the rider off. This was fine as he was blocked in, so the pursuit continued. After the 2nd vehicle swap, I called it out and stopped next to the car, it started to drive off and then come to a stop again. Me assuming they might want to talk or give up, I pull along side. This is when Steve Martin [36] Jumps out and shoots me with no communication.

I requested he come to QE to discuss this situation. I was un-happy that a good pursuit which the police clearly gave leniency to was ruined by this silly act. At least for me. The Martins claimed that the fact their characters are known and convicted terrorists and they most likely have warrants for their arrest, along side this, contact made by myself with on the T20, also added to the reasoning they had to open fire on me.

I'm not a petty guy, but as a cop. This is the kind of scenario we experience a lot and is one of our bug bares when it comes to crim vs police. I think that this requires a report, to ensure a log is kept if any scenarios play out like this again.

Hello,

The chase had lasted a while. We could hear you on radio talking about T/C then you started ramming at Triads hence what prompted me to shoot.

We were fully under the impression I had a warrant for 2 murders the previous day, as I had been released from custody while evidence was being analysed. This was also not the first chase where police were very heavy with numbers, again leading me to believe I had a warrant for murder which I certainly never wanted to be caught for.

Maybe I could of warned you before shooting, or demanded you stopped chasing us then continued the chase. I will take this on board for future situations.

Appreciate your comments mate. No hard feelings, but just a shame it ended the way it did.

Hello @Clarence Rimmell thank you for taking the time to write this report!

@SteveMartin understandably you'd be under the impression for a murder warrant and it's quite clear the Police wanted you for something. Understandably no criminal wants to be caught for any crimes they commited however that does not give any individual the right to break rules to escape the Police.

So you've been reported for two rule breaks:
(G1.2) Random Death Match (RDM)
Attacking another player without engaging in any form of quality roleplay is considered RDM. (eg. Giving enough time for them to comply with your order. “Put your hands up or I will shoot” and countdowns are not considered quality roleplay, please at least attempt to create an interesting roleplay story before considering violence.)
(G2.12) Poor Quality Roleplay
You must provide quality roleplay at all times taking into account every players direct and indirect experience. The following list of examples include but are not limited to; "Hands Hands Hands" and "Hands up or die" as a first interaction with a player are not acceptable standards of roleplay. Downing a player that refuses to say a specific phrase in order to identify them is considered poor quality roleplay. Be original. Not providing medical roleplay at any stage during a situation where your intentions are to revive them. Attempting to avoid the aftermath of a situation where you are downed by using /me dead or /me no pulse or similar. You will be judged by the staff team on a case by case basis and the rule will follow the Fair Ban System unless in extreme/repeated cases.

Reviewing the evidence, was this shooting random? No it was not - the Police did decide to make contact with the vehicle in an attempt to end the pursuit. If no contact was made by the Police and Steve decided to shoot then my thoughts on this would likely be different.

Was there any quality roleplay in the shooting? No, Steve switched vehicle which the Police allowed him to do, jumped back out the vehicle shot the Police Officer and then hopped back in and drove off. There was no form of escalation from Steve at all, no warnings, no words, nothing. The only interaction was at the start when the Police pulled over Steve and upon asking for him to show his driving license that is when the first vehicle switch happened.

There was multiple opportunities to warn the Police and have interactions with them prior to the shooting. As I've mentioned the shooting isn't random necessarily however as stated in the rule "Attacking another player without engaging in any form of quality roleplay is considered RDM".

@SteveMartin you've been on the server for a long time and the last ban you got was 11 months ago for RDM. Additionally you've only had one kick this year for Misuse of OOC. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here as you've acknowledged you could have done more and generally staff don't need to deal with yourself.
