Teargas Removed

I don't care that it is removed (believe me), i NEVER carry the gas with me, but when it is a vote the result should be the winner of the vote.

They can remove everything they want, but don't putt a vote then.. that's what i mean.
There were plans to keep it and make it weaker as the majority basically voted there is something wrong with teargas.

The police vote did count but as we couldn't do anything to make it weaker quickly without putting time into it and fresh in the mind all the times i have seen the police abuse teargas, and constantly walk around with the darthvader helmets on it was clear the best thing was to remove it.

The police still have the restrain and escort functions and also the tazer and tazer rifle which no one else have.

Tazer Rifle whatnow?
Not heard of this at all.

You have never noticed the tazer rifle ? (unless its been removed since my police days)

Must've been long gone for at the least a month, that's when I strolled in. Not a word said about it even when I first joined the APC. But hell, some sort of Tranquilizer Rifle (limited range, for balance) and the accompanying mags would be fantastic.

Yes we had a tazer rifle.
Never seen it used my self, most people carry MX's as their primary anyway so something like a Taser rifle is kind of a meh idea, if smoke grenades actually covered a area instead of indicated it, those would be nice to use, but sadly alas they do not..

The taser rifle was removed when KR took over.

Let me clear something up.

**I** removed the teargas script.

I was fully aware of the vote and its result. Although it is clear that we had a majority of voters saying 'there's something wrong with it', we also could re-cast that same result and say 'the majority of people wanted it kept in some modified form'.

Unfortunately, there was no CLEAR indication either way, and to be fair, this is not an issue of democracy, it's an issue of what works best on the server.

I removed the teargas script because it is a HORRIBLE piece of code that sits in the background 24/7 testing to see if someone is within range of a green smoke-grenade and then nerfing their vision and fatigue if they are. It makes no distinction as to whether there IS a smoke-grenade even fired anywhere on the server, and it consumes a noticeable amount of FPS.

I removed it initially to see whether it made any different to frame-rates. It did - so it is probable that it will stay gone.

I do have the option to rewrite it, but it will require a COMPLETE rewrite and rethink (so that it only becomes active when a TG round is actually 'in play', rather than being a resident 'overwatch condition'). As such, it will be quite a big job, and will need altering anyway in terms of effect, fatigue, gameplay balance, etc. Given the amount that it had been ABUSED, despite there being very clear rules on its deployment conditions, I am not totally sure that it is worth the effort in the short term. There are bigger, better fish to fry.

I may revisit the teargas in the future, but for now, it has been replaced with 'normal' smoke grenades which are less overpowering and still enable both sides to roleplay effectively.

Yes, I am a dictator, but a benign one. I serve the server, not the individual. I do things because (from a coding perspective) they NEED doing (or at least testing). If you disagree, or don't like it, you're welcome to have my job. The pay is nothing but whining and grief, and the hours are long. Enjoy.

Back to the game...

There are still people who appreciate your work, don't forget that.

I am new here but I do enjoy what I have seen so far. I have played on other Altis Life servers. These are the most stable servers I have played on with the best system so far.
