In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: I believe that I was banned due to receiving money from a player in the server that shares the same IP as myself.

Why should we unban you ?: I hope that you guys would consider unbanning me as the incident was not intentional. In the roleplay server I have little to no affiliation with the player and the money I received was a random event and I did not anticipate for any money to be given to my character. The player shares the same IP as me as we both play in the same household and he doesn't have a huge understanding of roleplay yet, clearly displayed in his actions in giving the money to myself. I didn't think the incident was as big a deal as it actually is due to the small sum of money and thought that it would be forgotten about. Now I understand how bad this could potentially be for the server and I deeply apologise for any of my wrong doings. I am a big fan of this server and have made an effort to roleplay to the best of my abilities and make it an immersive experience for all players as I am happy to help anyone that doesn't understand the rules and follow the rules to the best of my ability . I am happy for admins to take away all the illegitimate money from my character. In the future I will make sure to notify any admins if this situation was to occur again and take the situation much more seriously. I completely understand my wrong doings and will never make this mistake again. Thanks.

Hi,

There are currently 3 different users each on a separate device that play in my household. 

The rule that we have both broken is the G2.9 rule that states: 'Transferring money between your own characters is not allowed by any method'. The details of the reason for our ban is stated on the above appeal. 

I have read previous appeals and have been made aware of some of the punishments that have been provided to players that have broken the rule in similar fashion. I plead for any punishment provided to not be so harsh due to my bewilderment of being given the money in the first case and becoming aware that as soon as I received the money, punishment would be provided no matter what actions I could have taken to correct the situation. 

The rule highlights the point stating that it is between your own characters and not others. Which I believe creates blurred lines as I received the ban for a transfer with another's character. Since the recent actions has been seen as a bannable offence, I would like to make a suggestion to update the G2.9 rule to make it clearer and appropriately cover the situation that has taken place. If this is not an appropriate method of highlighting my concern, I will make sure to highlight this in the Roleplay UK rule feedback section of the website. 

I apologise for taking the time out of staff members day by asking to review my appeal and I have great admiration for anyone that is trying to improve and regulate the community on a day-to-day basis.

This isn't the place to suggest or provide feedback to a rule, please do so in the correct areas. 

As for your punishment, it will remain as is standard for such rule break with no exceptions. 

Now that you've explained the rule, it's evident you understand it. Why should we give you another chance to play on our server when you decided to cheat? How can we trust that you won't break any more of our server rules?

I would like to highlight the point that the specific rule wasn't broken. I was given money from another player, not myself and the rule clearly states that transferring money between your own characters is not allowed by any method. No actions from myself were taken, the player gave me the money without my knowledge. If I walked up to another player in the server and randomly gave them money without them anticipating it would they get banned? I had no say in the situation and can completely see where staff members are coming from. But I believe that I was innocent in the situation. 

I can be trusted to not break any server rules if I was to be unbanned as I enjoy playing the server and have put so much time and effort into making money and buying nice cars/property. I would never have wanted the many hours spent grinding to go down the drain hence why I am scared of loosing everything I worked hard for, because an illegal action made by another player.

So this player was a family member I assume? Who decided to create a new character and send you £35k and you then to give £10k of that to his other character right? 

So I would like to highlight the point that this is cheating and you clearly organised this out of game which is also breaking another rule. So I would suggest you change your approach on this appeal if you wish to stand a chance of being unbanned otherwise I will deny this appeal and you will have no chance of appealing this ban for another 6 months.

Hi again. I can 100% confirm that this was not an organised event. I already had much more than 35k and had no need for it any any way shape or form. The 10k given to his character was intended to be out of my own money that I had made to help him rent a taxi and not the 35k he had given me.

The fact that he gave me the money without any signal was not my fault but his. I can honestly say that I had no idea that it was him as he didn't have the same character. He would confirm that he was in the wrong and feels bad for getting me banned for something that he tried to do to help me. I had 0 input. It's very hard to prove this to any staff but please believe me. I already had well over £1 million of assets/money and the 35k did not benefit me in any way. There was no sense in me carrying this out as there was always the certainty that I would get banned for a sum that would have been of little benefit to me. The risk of loosing my character and all of my possesions would not have been worth the 35k and would have been idiotic to even consider this as an option.

I had the intention of giving him the 10k for the taxi out of my own pocket and not the fraudulent funds I had received. I used a part of the 35k cash in my inventory as it was out of handiness more than anything. 

I had these fraudulent funds but what was I meant to do to clear my name? They were given to my by my brother but it was all his idea of surprising me with some money as he knew I played on the server regularly. I had no knowledge of the situation and as soon as he sent me the funds I was going to get banned anyway. 

It's really hard to explain the full situation through these messages and I'm trying my best to provide you with all of the details. If you or any other staff members would prefer to have a conversation with myself and my brother on discord/teamspeak I would be happy to do so. 

I give you my word that I had no out of game involvement in the situation and im sorry that's all I can give as I have no evidence to help prove this to any staff members.

I have had one previous ban that was nothing to do with me and can assure you that this is one of the first times I have gotten into one of these situations. I'm not the best at appealing my innocence and apologise if I've came across in a way that seems self entitled/offensive to staff.

The issue here is I just don't believe you and there's nothing really that you can do to change my view on that. 

I firmly believe that you and your brother arranged this OOC in order for him to get the money IC. 

If met with this situation again, what would you do in order to avoid this situation?

Hi. I can assure you that I've only used the truth in this appeal but I understand that your hearts set on that decision and I respect that completely.  

The main rule broken was G2.9: Transferring money or items between your own characters is not allowed by any method.

After analysing the rules multiple times I can see that staff members also believe that I have also broken the rule G3.3 Hot Mic - While external communications are discouraged, if used, you must hot-mic all communications that have been made over any external methods or phone conversation when they are relevant to influencing the course of roleplay. This means that if you are communicating to fellow team members via any external methods or phone conversation and you are in audio proximity range of another player (they can hear you, you are restrained or your hands are up), you must hot mic any commands given so the rival player can overhear.

These rules are set in place to make sure that no inflation occurs that lead to higher prices and andvantages to anyone that was to breach the G2.9 rule. It creates unfair financial advantages to the players. Speaking about RP in person can cause a huge disadvantage to some players that do not have any real world contact with players. This is due to how much easier IC events can be organised and the reduced number of RP situations required. Without these rules the server would be complete chaos and ruin the entire experience for other players.

If I was to be unbanned, going forward I would make sure to keep all RP in private from anyone in my household and keep everything online. If I was to receive money from a player I would immediately let staff know and make sure they take the money away from me ASAP. 

I've had the fear that I would loose everything that I spent hours working towards since the moment I got unbanned. Now I accept that if that's what has to be done, it must be done. Just playing in the server and socialising with different players is worth much more than anything else. 

I would be very greatful if an unban would even be considered but I respect your decision if this is not an option.

So let me get this straight you expect us to believe that your brother created a new character and without speaking with you managed to somehow find you in a matter of minutes and give you his starting cash log off and log back on to find you again and get given 10k from you without any sort of communication?

Hi.

I know it sounds hard to believe, but he found me both times by watching me IRL while I was playing RP. I didn't even notice him walk in as I was too zoned in while playing. I gave him the 10k in RP after he asked for money to rent a taxi, when he found me the second time I believed that it was the first time seeing him that day. I thought the person who gave me the original 35k was some random rich guy that wanted to be nice. After the event my brother told me that he was the one that gave me the 35k.

This was in no way orchestrated by myself as 35k was not even worth the hassle in the first place. I already had plenty of money and I would risk all of that for 35k? I am much more experienced than my brother in RP and knew he shouldn't have done what he done. 

It's not easy to explain it in this appeal and would be happy if any staff members want to talk about it with me and my brother on TeamSpeak.

What was you doing at the time of this transaction? For example driving around? fishing etc.

He does not play in the same room as me.

From what I can remember he came up to me in a car while I was looking for houses that were available to buy near the golf course in game. I was on foot.

@JacckkI'll be honest with you. There is doubt on my mind however I am going to give you a chance so do not ruin it.

From this point onwards I expect you to follow the rules properly, if someone randomly gives you money with little to no roleplay or a large sum for example I would expect someone to report it as suspicious behaviour. For example. (G5.7) Character Growth - Your character should have long term growth. Your character should not join our server on creation and instantly be a millionaire crime lord. All characters should grow into their roles – initially starting off with few resources and knowledge of the city.

Now @Jacckkfor you to remain unbanned you must contact and give £35k to an admin within a week you have until next Friday (21/1/2022) to do this. You can either contact an admin in-game or created a discord ticket and link them this appeal and explain why you are doing this and get them to send me a message on discord confirming that this has been done. If you do not do this by Friday you will be banned.
