What can a bounty hunter do?

Bounty hunting involves a lot of work and to do the work properly, without breaking the server rules, there are questions to be asked, I am sure, all Bounty Hunters of the island will appreciate these questions answered.

Can a bounty hunter
1. Shoot on sight at a criminal or criminals who are shooting, robbing someone or something?
2. Have his uniform and weapon at all times, even when he is doing something else, like Collecting iron etc. (Arresting criminals while at that if opportunity provides)
3. Wear normal clothes, engage in RP to learn the name, go around a corner to change the clothes, come back and arrest the guy?
4. Initiate a conversation and arrest a guy who has an illegal weapon, without learning his name?
5. Shoot on sight at a guy who has his illegal weapon out without initiating?
6. Remember a guy from a previous experience and so, not needing the guys name again to arrest him??
7. Wear helmets and armor vests which are sold in rebel settlements?
8. Bounty hunting list provides names, is it allowed for a BH to message a criminal to bait him out?
9. Like police, can a BH camp drug stores, processing and gathering of illegal substances and arrest after an initiate, without learning their name?

1. No. That is RDM. You're not an officer you're a bounty hunter. Your job is to get names (without metagaming) and catch them that way.

2. Yes

3. No you must wear the uniform at all times whilst on duty.

(8.1.1) Bounty hunters must wear the bounty hunter uniform at all times while on duty.
4. Answer 1. You're not an officer you're a bounty hunter. Your job is to get names (without metagaming) and catch them that way.

5. That is RDM, again answer 1.

6. As long as it was within the restart and he/she hasn't changed clothing.

7. Helmets yes but you must have the bounty hunter vest on at all times when on duty.

8. No, that is metagaming as you do not have his/her phone number within RP.

9. Again read answer 1.

Hope that helps :)

That is rather sad and leaves little to no power to Bounty Hunters and rises other questions,

RP perspective Example:
BH are not officers, but they are on the side of the law, they protect the citizens by putting criminals behind bars, so why would an honest, good BH leave a defenseless citizen to die? Does he really need to learn the maniacs name before he brings him to justice?

If you performed a citizen's arrest (correctly initiated) and brought them to the police, there is nothing wrong with that. A rebel or civilian can do that whenever and there is a bit in UK law that surrounds citizen's arrests.

-------------------

  • Any person can arrest a person who is in the act of committing an indictable offence or
  • Anyone whom he reasonably suspects to be committing such an offence, if

    it is not reasonably practicable for a constable to make the arrest instead

AND

  •  it is necessary to arrest the person for one of the below reasons,
To prevent the person in question,

  • causing physical injury to himself or any other person;
  • suffering physical injury;
  • causing loss of or damage to property; or
  • making off before a constable can assume responsibility for him.
-------------------

In theory, you would be acting within the law and you would therefore not risk losing your licence but you can also be an upstanding citizen and help people in need. As long as you do good quality roleplay with them before you shoot, do as you want.
