Cant call a new number unless they are in your contacts

Since the phone got updated there is no longer an option to just dial a number.  You have to make a new contact and call the number that way.  Is this by design?

 
i noticed this a few days ago, the blocking number section is where you used to be able to call a number, hopefully the num pad returns 

 
Excellent news! This has now been fixed by the development team and will be released in a future server update.
Thanks for doing your bit to help us keep the servers bug free!​
