From what i HEARD, all these people roleplaying are causing the problem, we should ban roleplay and only allow gunfights, roleplay is stealing all the RP bullet capacity
I mean, imagine dedicating your free time to help out a community and all you get in return is negative feedback and flat out hate except for the occasional time when people will thank the devs after someone mentions that the devs get nothing but hate and sly comments. If you honestly think all the lag will be solved by removing the decamp script, downed script and cleanup script (this script literally reduces lag?) then you should not be commenting on the matter.
@Stavik if people trying to start discussions on issues they’re having on the server is such a pain for you then why get involved? This place needs good discussions to improve it.
This is in no way some kind of dig against the dev team. I’m simply shining the light on an issue which has arose again since the server has been filling again. I asked if there was any plans and then opened it for discussion. What’s the issue?
@Kempi Anderson I don’t think removal of any of the scripts would remove lag altogether, but I do personally think the downed script and some others do contribute to the lag, but I haven’t seen the scripts so I couldn’t know for sure. It’d be nice if the person who created the scripts could comment their opinion as that would be more insightful.
Not really a pain. It's just another status update.
But to help you abit and hold some hands.
Many many many times this exact same thing was posted, and replied to in depth, not only by the current dev team, but also parts back in the day. If there is some magical solution to it, do you not think they would go for that one straight away?
Well, it used to be typically blamed on “client side” issues and not server related issues.
There’s always a magical solution, just because it has not been found yet doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. But I seriously doubt it’s been at the top of any devs to-do list to search for it recently as it wasn’t really an issue with less people on the server.
So why do you think it is like this? It apparently can’t be scripts so what? A bad server host? Too many props on the server perhaps?
From what Cool said, trial and error is a good way of providing an idea of what is causing the lag. Even if active scripts are constantly running, lower the refresh rate on them scripts. Even figure out a heat map of where people are most and then in all the low populated areas, remove the props or lower the props in that area for a week. See what it does.
As explained many times now (so I'll spare the detail here), it's impossible for that to cause the issues - it's event driven, not a loop.
Even KOTH lags and that's pretty minimal in every way, it's just the combination of scripts, anti-cheat, objects and large player count - none of which you can just remove as it's all needed for roleplay, imagine police stations with no chairs etc.
