    Yeah not saying it's impossible, just generally unlikely. A quick S.M.A.R.T check should determine if this is likely to be drive failure. If this is just a corrupt update (which I suspect), it's likely that it can be fixed with some recovery media. - Marc

    For any modern build I'd always recommend 16Gb now. Applications are utilising so much more ram than they used to so you'll find yourself using your page file quite often if you only have 8Gb, which isn't ideal.
