I can already tell this is going to be an unpopular opinion however.
In the city right now it seems every can get guns, their really cheap and crims have really easy access to them (especially if in an OCG)
It feel like most situations involving police end in a gunfight or start off threats of a firearm which for a UK themed city doesn't make much sense.
I do like guns being in the city as it does make for some interesting RP however, situations are becoming expected.
And yes you could argue that "well the police have guns" and realistically, i think we have too many of these. Not every officer in the uk has a gun but ftoc rates in city are pretty high.

Whats the suggestion?
Lower the access to guns for everyone within the city; crims and police. Realistically if police seize a gun off someone they wouldn't have another 10 laying around their gaff. And from the polices side - a firearms incident normally involves firearms units as officers with FTOC irl arnt that common.

Pros?
-More variation to rp situations
-Easier for new players
-Makes for fairer fights etc

Cons?
-People dont have as many guns
-Dev Work
-Grumpy police and crims cos they lost their gun

I have to say; as someone who has been in the Police since late July last year and has not done, nor will I ever do my FTOC. I disagree, it is not unplayable, in fact I would probably argue it is more enjoyable, I find not carrying a firearm has opened me up to more roleplay from groups and crims and also have found that I can attend most scenes perfectly fine as long as I don't act stupid. I do however understand that experience is not the same for everyone

So i am ftoc however have resigned myself to only withdrawing a pistol when there is an active gunfight, or the police station is being raided and I agree with you that I have had alotnof rp with people but I would not say it is soly down to my lack of a firearm.
What I have noticed is that in situations where I have needed it and not had it I have had to be more creative and value my life more.
I as mentioned above would love tk see ftoc being rolled back slowly maybe as mentioned before only authorised when a situation requires it for example but I do also believe that the reduction of available firearms on the streets could assist with this being viable

I agree, having fun creative RP outside of gunrp sounds good.

The thing is, it would have to be across the board as you rightly said.
The police would have their firearms and ftocs reduced as along as guns crims are holding are also reduced.

Would be interesting to see how people would play the long game

Servers turned into Late stage Altis Life, anyone who says guns are hard to get are talking Bull, the past few crim characters I made I had a gun within 2 hours. Cheap to buy and easy to get. Shouldnt be this way. Nothing in the server is UK related other than the faction cosmetics and some of the laws. Im all for lowering access to guns and as @Avion Solar said reducing the access from the police side to firearms only.

Majority of the interactions I have with crims these days on my police character I feel like I cant even do any policing because if I try to effect an arrest ill be swarmed by 10 people and shot 750 times.

Pointless suggestion tho unfortunately the meta and the majority of the playerbase would leave if this happened just a fabled dream from alot of us who would actually like to see a full wipe or reductions in guns. Since when did the average donny walk round london with a service carbine

I do not know who you guys patrol with, but if you're solo, it's constant abuse. if you're with someone else, they usually drop you off at a gunfight so they can join knowing you're unarmed. I've even had sergeants do it. If im lucky they give me keys so I can drive off, otherwise im sat for 45 minutes at a corner of the street asking on radio when it's safe for unarmed police to enter, just to get ignored constantly, see everyone leave and I can walk back to station

Sounds completely unrelated to the suggestion ngl, probably best to report it to the higher ups or put in a police complaint in game, obviously as someone who isn’t FTOC trained you shouldn’t be driving with you to a gunfight
