Brief Summary: impliment a /logout command

Detailed Suggestion:

Add a command such as /logout which takes you back to the character selection menu Not much else to put on that. To make it balanced add say a 15 - 30 second timer on it

The Pros:

Allows you to change character without flying out

The Cons:

Potentially used by baldies to circumvent rp

Does this suggestion change balance on the server ?

Not really

-1 It has been explained many times why the average player cannot change characters on the fly. The log out is necessary to avoid multiple bugs. For the extra 30 seconds it takes I don't think this is needed.

the last one did not get that far

as one of the people that can actually change characters "on the fly" i can't comment on how many times i've switched characters and fallen through the map, spawned where another one of my character was or been in a room i wasn't meant to be in due to it lol

if i could work the way 1A mentioned in the pos, Samuel posted then it would be fine(if the bugs are ironed out)

Thanks for taking the time to make the suggestion. Unfortunately, this functionality is locked behind staff/dev - and likely will remain that way.

But to be transparent as to why - the current implementation has current problems with player data not syncing when the player's character changes, for example, sometimes when switching; the spawn location of the new character is the previous character's logout location. Obviously, staff can self-resolve this issue, but if we were to release the current implementation to the wider community, we'd see staff having to deal with tping people around if/when the issue arises.

To fix this, we'd likely need to undergo a rewrite of the way we handle the player data during character loading and switching, which is a fairly big task, and for the 2 minutes it takes to quit and re-join, simply just isn't worth the time that can be used elsewhere.

REJECTED
However, there may come a time we revisit this if and when a dev wishes to do so - so we can never say never
