What's any of that got to do with RPUK? I can donate 10k to charity today and get swayed into downloading a cheat menu tomorrow

Persons being framed as bad people, being thrown away, because they did some mistakes. (which in this case wasnt even related to cheating, as it was just an example of someone having a bad day, and getting banned and not being able to return.) I said before in general fuck cheaters. But people DO DESERVE 2nd chances. Some people get banned not because of some anti cheat, but because some gang member sends a clip and says ''There is cheating.'', and if there was an anti cheat, then I would love to know, why I see sometimes people driving with 700 MPH on a bicycle or bike, and then only getting banned when reported over OOC. This has nothing to do with bypassing. There has been a video of a known person, who got banned for RDM, but blatantly cheated with a mod menu, and no one saw it, even though he/she shot through walls in the Video.

But this is what I mean, closing YOURSELF from any other perspective ain't helping. While ignoring all of my other points, which could make this work. (atleast you.) You literally framed my argument into something else I didn't even say (which in this case you meant by that I defend cheating). The topic is a mass unban and people saying that a cheater is always a cheater, a rule breaker is always a rule breaker. You get what I mean? A mass unban is a step into fairness and second chances for anyone, who has done a wrong thing or someone who changed within the years but is permanently thrown away. But nice to see that my other stuff is irrelevant. And well in this case it was an example of what I am doing. I have never cheated, 'only' got an exploiting ban. But being thrown away is the equivalent of saying = good bye you are trash.

There is 100% anti cheat, but the details of what one and how it works and what it logs are not for the general public of the server and only for upper staff and management so to not let people work out ways to work around it

Tho as a side thought If you unban everyone then you might as well just restart the entire server and wipe out everything like a day one start

But a medium one at best then. People driving with 600 mp/h should be caught instantly the moment they do it, and not the moment someone complains in OOC about it. And well this argument could work for Riot Games, because they have their own anti cheat, own code and all that. But for a RP server this ISN'T necessary. As most of them use either FiveGuard (which at best would catch it) or anything else. So I don't know what this anti cheat is here then.

But also there doesn't need to be for a server wipe. As the people who got banned got banned justified one more, one less, one more than the other. People who are eagerly to return would grind a bit.

I AM NOT SAYING that people who got banned are banned unjustified, but just giving arguments that if a mass unban ever seems to happen, what could be done to handle it, and giving my own experience when I saw it happening. This is what the people who responded to me are misunderstanding.

Also to note I asume this was also raised on the part of the server being on the quieter side at the moment

But I have been here since 2021 and this happens all the time summer the server pop drops then comes back near winter then goes kinda quiet for Christmas week then builds back up again untill summer and repeat

Imma honest, I didn't see that happening when I joined the Server pop was still at over 200 last year in Summer. But it is obvious that the server is dying with the gang scene together. Cutlass disbanded. Aztecas disbanded. Coalition disbanded. Vagos disbanded. Even NSC is gone. Right now you only few gangs left.

But i can kinda imagine it. You have been longer here so I assume it is true. As in Winter the population is really a bit bigger.

Well for me it seemed and looked like it, my own perspective and opinion is literally this 'But being thrown away is the equivalent of saying = good bye you are trash.' And if a mass unban is ever going to happen, it should be all and not some people being left out. I shared my own experience with it on other Servers. And simply stated that it can and does work. People do deserve 2nd chances and if the UNBAN is going to happen, it is the 2nd chance. There are many possibilities how this can be handled, from good ac, to supervision of specific players who are known, once unbanned. And my own experience was just that even servers with +400 people who did massive unbans every 2 years or just once at christmas as surprise and sign of good will, and they are still up and didn't fall while they had less staff members, and less active than the ones here.

Yes but also being a 'saint' or good person outside of rp uk, shows at some point how a person can be. Someone who got a crashout for whatever reason, gets permed, with no chance of return, could deserve such kind of chance.

Script injection, hence why when they get banned the car can still do that speed untill reset/removed, also when I used to staff for a redM server we used to watch the cheaters cheat and watch the consoles so we could learn from them on how to block that, it's possible they also do that here

Why not if everyone gets a second chance to come back and have another go might as well reset everything, do it as a big push get all the current updates and dev work rolled out, and start 100% fresh, plus it would flush out all the exploited money that's been injected into the economy over the years

Tho in most cases the gangs do this to themselves, instead of having fun doing what they do and makeing something of it it's more like gang wars are people just dyeing to grab a clip and report even for the smallest things, and if those gangs mentioned they just lost their WL perms either that be due to lack of RP or a lack of members, they can come back from that and earn their WL again if they work towards it, triads did/are doing it, also it's a good wake-up call for groups if their quality of RP drops then remove the WL and show they need to earn that level again

Well it depends what kind of AC you have, either your own programmed AC or a bought one. And the bought one I mentioned has a hit rate of more than 90%. The bought ones get updated to combat public cheats, which is what felt like 99% of the people use. But with the difference that the guy with 600 mp/h wasn't watched I bet xD. As it was during late hours.

A reset could happen, but I guess it would just be too extreme, as the people who got banned, got mostly banned justified, so why give them more benefits? Their 2nd chance is to prove that they don't do any chaos if allowed to return.

Also yes, there is also already another gang in that situation, and they are doing a great job imo.

Mass Unban, IMO

Pros
- Potential short term activity spike.
- Potentially brings back people who may have been or feel harshly banned (this is also subjective & only so much information publicly disclosed).
- Friends of people who were banned return and also increase activity (where friends want to hang out together naturally, this may or may not create a question for RPUK server staff around if you really want to play on the server or just have your buddy ol' pals unbanned).

Cons
- Who decides who is unbanned and the headache thereafter because "oh X person was unbanned but why wasn't my friend".
- Reports, reports, reports. All over again.
- Staff time, resources etc. It's been mentioned already but again, peeps are donating their time to help build and maintain an RP Community. We only know so much about what goes of for Staff behind the scenes, could already be a workload. What attracts a member of Staff to want to carry on, if everything they've done is chucked out the window?

See, this could lead to yes, some very good eggs returning for silly mistakes made. There are opportunities to appeal, though I imagine entertaining a reoccurring rule-breaker with no disregard for others can seem like a waste of everyone's time, bluntly put.

+1 10000000%. MANY of the banned members would love a chance to prove not just to themselves, but to staff that they belong here.

I miss the days where you would drive round the city, to multiple turfs and have multiple members of each gang chilling and having a laugh at every turf. The RP was incredible when the city was populated.

Nowadays you drive around, don’t bump into too many newbies, there are what 4 gangs that have members? Every turf is dead, every hotspot where people used to meet up (for example legion carpark, bins, city hall) are just an absolute ghost town. There has been a slow decline in the server population, and a massive hit to the criminal side of the server, it’s a shame to see.

I’ve seen an actual rap battle happen in Legion, I miss the days!!

Now they're removed, they want them back.

There are so so many players, some even in this thread, that ask staff to come sit in on liaisons, review a piece of footage, ask if somethings a rulebreak, open tickets to cry that another gang is breaking rules/war rules, action reports over very small slights. These very same players are the ones complaining about the decline in the player base.

The simple question is, what do you want from the staff team? Is this just some form of venting?

We dedicate alot of our free time to ensuring this sandbox is a fair and fun environment for you guys to play in. To undo all that work and allow these problem players back to the community is a joke in most cases. Whilst alot of community members may not agree with the methods we follow, I can assure you that the procedures are there for a reason.

Jeep has raised an actual point that could be reviewed, and that is to do with combat logging. This is something thats been looked into as of recent months, and we have changed things up a litte.

If any one else has points that we can look into, please bring them up. But I think a mass unban is just not a solution for anything. (Though it may've worked in arma, it wouldnt be the same in fivem, due to the nature of the game). But do try to keep it concise, so it doesn't get lost in the wind.

I can’t lie, I do agree with you in some cases but A LOT of the time with these ‘report a player’ threads and liaisons for reviews are genuinely just some people being extremely salty that they have lost a gunfight, a war, and look to create a dent in anyway they can by clutching at straws at best. Sometimes a few people just need a ‘get on with it’ comment.

Personally, I am not a massive fan of this. The reason it was done back in Arma always came across like it was a way to boost server activity when the average playercount dropped, which is the reason behind this suggestion, I agree it will work for a time, but those people were banned for a reason, letting them back in the door would boost the playcount however the quality would not increase at all.

There are many reasons why the playercount is dropping, which is similar to what was going on with Arma at the time, though for me personally, I don't think a mass unban is the solution to that, so from me it's going to be a -1

A mass unban will not be taking place. Lots of the comparison here has been drawn from the mass unban which took place on ARMA. There was a very different rules and punishment "meta" there. All bans at that time were permanent and subject to appeal. If you're on a permanent ban here, you've already had 3 chances! Proceeding with a mass unban would only set to degrade the experience by those who aren't currently banned, which isn't fair. It's clear that this is an opinion held by the staff and the community given the -10 votes that this thread has at the time of review.

If there are discussions to be had as to how we should change the rules or how we should process them, I welcome you to have this discussion on the discord, in the #rules-discussion section.
