Brief Summary:
Suggestion is to implement server commands that allow the player to update their radio 'state' without having to us their 'O' (dispatch) or their 'CAPS' > 'Set State'.
Detailed Suggestion:
For example; The player could type "/S2" to go 'State 2' on their radio. Or the player could type "/S6" to set their state to 'State 6' on their dispatch top allow other units to know where they are along with using audible communication in channel to update teams.
The Pros:
Speed - For me personally, I can type the above a lot quicker than I can to set my state via 'O' > Scroll to find my call sign > Right click > Hover over 'set state' > Select desired state.
Accuracy - The amount of times I've gone to set my state and another unit has come on/off duty and it has moved my mouse causing me to start over. (Usually happens during the hover phase of selecting the state.)
Accountability - I personally feel more people will ensure their state is up to date this way as it's easier to type than click multiple times. I'd like to assume this may also assist other factions too, such as G6, NHS, Fire, etc.
Visibility - There are no 'CAPS' menu or 'DISPATCH' menus clogging up your screen and can remain in the RP scenario in it's entirety. I've been shot whilst updating my Status to State 6 before as didn't even see the guy as dispatch was covering them. haha
The Cons:
Training & Admin work (wiki)- If implemented, Training Officers in all factions would need to be made aware of it's use so they can roll out the appropriate documentation on Discord / WIKI controls etc, allowing units of each faction to be able to use this feature.
Dev work - Unsure how server commands work to be honest. I'm hoping they can be created in house without a beefy mod.
Does this suggestion change balance on the server ? I wouldn't say balance is effected in any way. This is more of a 'quality of life' request to better allow our factions the accuracy in updating their status in line with working as a team
Open to hear anyone's suggestions - Thank you for taking the time to consider my suggestion
