Update G5.1 (Character Names)

Due to the fact multiple people can use the same name IRL and that we aren't forcing character names to be unique in-game either I believe G5.1 should have the "do not use names of well known characters, celebrities, political figures, criminals etc..." part removed as there isn't really much of a reason to have it.

If it was created to stop people impersonating them then that could be added as a new rule which disallows people impersonating IRL "well known characters, celebrities, political figures, criminals etc..." as in my opinion it doesn't make sense to just completely stop people using a name because it's the same as a "well known" person.

It's good that you need to be 18+ to play on the FiveM server then.
It would be ideal to assume that age-restriction would prevent any problems, but that is not the case. I am curious to know the frequency of G5.1 incidents on a daily basis, given that it is a server for adults. I'd guess it's a considerable amount.

I don't see the point of this suggestion.

Why fix something that's not broken?

There's already a plenty of
James Smiths (actor)
Mike Millers (basketball player)
That technically "slipped past" on the server that didn't get their name reset, why, because those are pretty common names firstly, and secondly if a staff member has to use google to find out if x is a porn star or someone famous we don't name reset.

Would love to see a gang leader by the name of Genghis Khan.

I got kicked for a name change once it was Charles Johnson and i was told i have to change it due to someone els using it on another rp server that streams on twitch

For every passable name like Mike Miller you're gonna have a dozen baldies running about as George Bush or Boris Johnson

Controversal topic. For the sake of creating your own character to grow and build within this city, you shouldn't rely on a figure that is well known (i.e. Boris Johnson, insert any other well known name). However it creates a lot of funny moments as well, since interacting with those "played" characters is rather hilarious. However it only lasts for so long and is at some point exhausted as an idea. What is the long term roleplay with a Boris Johnson. Yeah he could play the RL politician crazy idiot that neglets the public interests (not gonna go further into that 😄 )  etc. But it will be exhausted at some point since we will always compare to RL. However if you create your own story it lasts much longer and you also don't tip toe around possible borderline behaviour or cringe moments, since it is inpersonating a RL figure (most of the times, if its not a movie figure).

you can see there is a lot of potential, but also a lot of "IFs" and "BUTs" in there. So I am neutral on this really. In the end, there is plenty of room for creativity, look at the "Injustice League", they created their own "superheros" instead of feeding from names of the Marvel universe (afaik).

hate to tell you. Marvel isnt the only superhero franchise
DC owns Justice League (Batman and superman stuff) And the bad guys (Injustice League). They are just playing DC villians group.

Difference is that is not their actual characters names iirc. Thats their nickname. Same as i run around as "Zero"

You up for the recreation of the Mongol Empire and ride around Grove turf on horses shooting them with bow and arrows? +1

IRL celebreties no but imo movie characters, Series etc... shouldnt be an issue, if its coming to the point of kicking people for a streamer having the same name in another server than i think it becomes a bit dumb.
