Lack of RP from Cops.

One of the issues when dealing with the police in game is that it is a HUGE faction. Correct me if I am wrong but on the PNC there are some 400 odd officers, not all of which are full time or active but that's a shit tonne of members, right? You can have a max of 30 cops on one server.. so 400/30=13.3• chance of roleplaying The with the same cop per restart (not accounting for the very obvious variables such as play time per day of each officer/typical schedule of being online etc etc) so let's take it down to a nice even 10% mark, fair?[ my maths may be wrong and these are just me being clinical ]

so with each police interaction having the chance of roleplaying with ATLEAST one officer on two consecutive occasions over multiple restarts is 10%, or even them being online at the same time. That basically means there is an extremely low chance of encountering the same officer, continuing a flowing roleplay story ("it's a hunting rifle, DSGT ShitForBrains [KV987] said yesterday I'm allowed it!" *"well he's not here and I haven't heard anything about it so it is NOT a hunting rifle it's a lethal weapon so I'll be taking that"*) allbeit a few other officers MIGHT go along with it but I mean c'mon, you get that fresh PC KnowItAll [PY666] who's the dogs bollocks showing off to his SGT and his PCSO (people he needs to win their 💕 hearts) and he won't budge.. Or you meet INS DigBick [KV333] and he lets you walk all over him. It's a lucky draw.

IF the police was SMALLER like your average gang (20 or so members?) it would probably allow for a much easier flowing  roleplay story and people could get away with things or not be able to get away with things in a more fluent way. BUT that's not the case and it's impractical AF. So you get situations where the story doesn't match the puzzle pieces and you give a chicken the horses head..

Morale of the story? Don't try and use your last encounter with an officer in your current one, especially if they aren't the same officers as they probably won't even bother to verify it and deny it (I was a cop for a long time, it is very rare they will try and confirm it as the other cop is more than likely offline [EDIT]. Not to mention he/she might not even have a clue if it is actually another cop (they don't all know each other!)).

Make your story fresh, spice it up, add a bit of comedy and try not to be a total dick to the officer because he or she will come down hard...(unless you're being a dick in a comical way and their colleague takes over because hey will more than likely be loving it and let you off).

Its not the police's fault, it's just how this cookie crumbles..
That sounded more like a vent/rant but honestly  it makes more sense now. Cheers.

So in the past 2 days we have had multiple cops pull up at our property and start asking why were here and what were doing, throwing around damands like they own it.

Today was the worse day as an RTU unit pulled up with 2 officers, they started asking us questions and then my friend ran outside as a hobo with an MX on his back. the inspector instantly ran after him and ran into my house saying he was going to raid it if he doesnt give the gun up. so i tried to RP with him saying we had confirmation that we were allowed them for hunting rabbits in the area from DSGT Fade (which we did), so after all this there were about 5 AR guys, and like 5 normal officers surrounding my house for no reason what soever.

I was telling them over and over that we were no threat and just hunters. so DSGT Fade who gave use confirmation to hunt with them and keep them hidden if possible then pulled up and said we were "bullshitting" and that he was going to arrest me if i "carry on"; so we made an agreement if i give up 2 MX's then they wont raid my house. so we did it and we were complying and being friendly when they all started saying "if you give us attitude we will raid you"

Now i just think the roleplay in that situation could have been better as we were roleplaying as Daft punk (DANK PUNK) with gold racer helmets. but instead it just felt bland and boring with no RP and just basic "do this or this will happen" type stuff.

Keep this in mind that im not trying to witch hunt anyone for bad RP. im just trying to reinforce high quality roleplay. so please don't be offended if you're hinted towards in this post, that was not my intention at all and after all were all here to have fun.

*Edited title from "No RP from Cops." To "Lack of RP from Cops."*
Well I have patrolled with a lot of people and I have never actually seen terrible RP. I try and put my best into every scenario like every other person in the police force. It is hard in some situations for police so if give us/them some slack. Everyone can be a bit ratty at times and make mistakes but if you don't like it just ask them for a chat after the situation has finished to just clarify what was going on.

Right these kind of topics always go for the blame cops or rebels. Well here's some words for all sides that explains these issues very well. Aggression and common sense.

Now all together yes often I seen other offices approach a scene that sometimes do'es not need aggression or shouting "Hands up this is the police!" This often leads to the roleplay ending fast and ends up in a gunfight or just unwanted wasted of time. Why? Obviously as an officer if you approach something, Approach it calmly, treat it as if you were not sure its a confirmed call. Then when approaching, if you spot men with firearms don't freak out , if you got people just ask hey what you doing with those or whats going on here. Adding common sense can help better situations when dealing with such situations.

For the rebels on hands, too often does a cop or officer do this to where its suspected to often. Mainly to say if you want to roleplay think with common sense of realism. This saves you the trouble of dealing with a entire cop force showing up. Back a year or so ago, I did weed runs with just roleplay. Why? Sometimes weapons or gear are not the best choice as often as your roleplay. By far its your best choice of weapon against police and so as to officers using it against rebels. Learning to counter RP or engaging in well detailed often express's to the other person how much effort you put into it. The less well put together a RP story is, dont be surprised often if people dont buy it or bypass it. But if you put together well then you might have a good chance of succeeding in beating a others roleplay with yours. But yes to be frank with you all. #stoptheblamegameandrp

Alright guys well firstly we as cops have a lot of things to respond to so we can't ALWAYS manage to be that patient, most of the time if you approach it calmly the rebels just run away without saying a word. As noah cazzy said yea give us rp, but don't give us this kind of rp m8 otherwise we re going to respond accordingly: "it s my friend s car"

"it s a false rifle"

"it s a paintball rifle"

"it s a hunting rifle"

"it s candles for the church"
"it s flowers not weed"

if you say these things and expect to walk off without any problems you are wrong because this isn t good rp

Being the INS you are talking about, i will respond. you say that we gave bland RP, but how often do you think us cops hear 'its for hunting...' ALL the time. Not only that, your clothing didnt match for hunting and you not once even tried to mention you was Daft punk, so next time if you have a problem come speak to the person instead of moaning, i would of happily explained it to you if you had asked. @SEN Koni
the fact you hear the lines "its a hunting rifle" "its a bb gun" so often doesnt mean you can ignore it because there are only so many lines we are able to use within RP and after some time it becomes repetitive...

then again its your choice within RP to decide what to do...

and differently dont try to RP with AR
Thats just stupid to say, i used to be in AR myself and i had some of my best RP scenarios in the police while on AR patrol, fair enough they respond to gunfight but dont say you shouldent RP with them as imo AR has some of the best rpers in the police at this current time.

Be Creative + Good roleplay = Potentially getting good Rp*

Good roleplay but with Unoriginal concept / The amount of time we have heard it = Getting denied.

.

That sounded more like a vent/rant but honestly  it makes more sense now. Cheers.
If it came across like that I apologise, it was meant to put in perspective WHY the police react in the way they do (to an extent)

Isn't it 40? ;D
If it is then it only makes my statistics lower and emphasis' my points more... I should really know the max cop count by now..

Not relating to this post directly, but I see it often were people feel if they don't  get let off with something because they tried to RP, that it's fail RP.

An officer making legal demands or giving instructions is actually RP in itself, and it's just as much the officers right to not believe your story as it is yours to tell it. People should enter enthusiastically into that kind of RP more instead of just getting salty because things didn't go their way. Things don't go the cops way ALOT.

Got asked to the liason room not that long ago because I arrested someone and took him down to the station for questioning because I didn't believe his story. He didn't like that he was taken against his will and that the interview took more than 15 minutes. He completely missed that fact that being taken to the station and questioned was role play.

With regards to Fade, he told you in RP that you could keep your weapons so long as they weren't visible. Sounds like he cut you a break. Legally he should have confiscated the weapons, but it's within his right 'in the spirit of RP' to bend the rules and use his discretion. He could have gotten into trouble (in RP only) for making this deal with you so sounds to me as though he was covering his back (in RP).  He made a deal with you guys and for what ever reason you broke the deal and could have landed him in the shit.

A DSGT doesn't have the power to change Altis laws.  Just because he cut you a break and said he wouldn't confiscate the weapons doesn't then make it legal to have them.

From my point of view i have seen a lack of roleplay from cops the past 2 weeks, 99% of it is on server 2
Everyone can say that about anyone. in 99% of my interactions with people I get weak RP.

It helps to give examples and not just blanket statements.

I'm sorry but can we stop with putting stuff like this on the forums, it's like you're asking for trouble especially how you're aiming this at the whole of the police force! In a short space of time all you're going to end up with is a dozen police officers covering their own/colleagues arses. I don't understand the point of people public shaming like this. If you have a problem with a certain officer or that an officer had broken a rule. Write a post for the PCC (police complains commission) and they will deal with the problem/officer directly. It's exactly what it's meant for, so use it!

You have to understand, we here the same excuses over and over again, it gets boring, come up with new and fun Roleplay stories and you will enjoy your run ins with the law a lot more.

have you ever seen three guys in golden helmets called DANK punk with laser rifles for there shows? i dont think you have.

coming up with a totally unique roleplay scenario is difficult however i did once manage to get a police escort to "deliver" a small amount of heroin to the "jeremy beadle centre for getting off the needle"...it wasnt planned and i came up with it to avoid a chase haha
