Police seems useless

@Scott1sh just one small issue - unlike messege police or admins - there is no way to messege the unmc without metagaming using phonebook - many times with id of like to messege the unmc for help and it doesnt seem right unless iv gotten there name in roleplay
You can always send a message acting like it's to no specific person and adress it to the UNMC Switchboard and then copy and send it to all UNMC members

As an Inspector in Athira and along the same lines as DI Longbeard I always spawn in Athira and patrol that area, in fact, me and a few other officers as soon as we spawned in were met with gunshots and responded to the athira bank being robbed, we then had to proceed onwards at the diamond processor with a guy who for no reason decided to try and RDM about 7 to 8 cops we then got called to a robbery at the airport hangers and then as per the norm were called to the aluminum processor just outside of kavala where there were multiple officers down all officers were called to deal with it this is just one night and as you can imagine it is difficult sometimes when you have to deal with people who would rather kill police because they can then RP with us I don't believe that all officers what to frag people I don't I will try and talk to people first and then investigate the situations we get into this is but a typical day in the life of an altis police officer and that we do try and respond to every call we get but sometimes it is not us but the situations that we get into that prevents us from responding to all calls.

Wanna come on a ride a long later today? Just going out to watch a movie but later in is fine I want to show you why we are not able to be every where 100% of the time we do more then you think.  Msg me on ts3 DI Raigon [999] Athira will be in police lounge 1 / 3 when I'm not ingame.

You got to think there's usually 130 ppl on the server and I would say 10 cops sometimes a lot more, either way, they will be outnumbered. There will also be a lot of crime going on. You got to think your not the only person on the server. However, I understand but we just can't be everywhere at once helping people out.

This post has a good point, the police have been told countless times they need to spread out there patrols and i still see it very rarely happen, but what you have to understand is that we do this for fun and a hobby, this isnt something we have to do, that i really hope you understand. There are loads of people and things always happening in kavala and for a lot of the time Athira but something i dont want to do is spend a lot of hours inside of pygros paroling and in a 3 hour patrol because pygros is usually dead, end up doing a few simple trafic stops and then thats it. However i do think it needs to be improved so thanks for bringing it to our attention. Us cops just need to stop making excuses for why we dont do it and just do it.

Also to everybody telling him to join the police and 'See how it is for yourself ' just stop, we are suppose to be here to have fun, if u think we have it that bad, then just stop.

Also to the few people who randomly decided to turn this into a 'Police starts gunfights' topic, stop. Because quite frankly it really inst true, yes people like engaging in combat, and without combat the server wouldn't be the same, but just remember it takes 2 sides to start a gunfight.

Let me add a few points.

About two weeks ago I was a civillian, doing oil and weed runs. I used to get irratated slightly regarding the police not always responding to dispatchs and not always being very generous to me. I personally never got annoyed by the police tazing each other, because I always ballsed about when I was representing my company, Altis Logistics, with my other mates, however this is personally preference.

Recently, I joined the police because the RP for civs wasnt cutting it for me. I underestimated the police, there patrols and general organisation are outstanding and beatifully managed. Generally, police dont just patrol Kavala. Normally they head from town to town along the main roads, and then divert themselves whenever required. Also, they do read and recognise every dispatch. I used to think they would be commonly overlooked, but are infact this is the absolote opposite, alsong as you give as much useful information as possible and dont write something like this:

'Help! Im losin my dimonds!'

but instead write:

'Please help. Two armed rebels just robbed my HEMMT box full of diamonds. One was wearing a wetsuit and they drove a red hatchback sport. They are heading south towards Pyrgos'

If you put out a dispatch like this, I bet you a beret that someone will acnoleadge and try to respond, wheras if you use the first dipach only 50% will pay evidence.

On your response claiming that we impound cars and it limits RP and shows laisiness; it does the absolute opposite. Generally, a civ will not bother to take a car that is no longer useful to the garage but will instead just ditch it on a road somewhere. All this does is lags the server, and creates car crashes. If you havent noticed, the impounding procedure often emploies lots of RP and we are trained to do so in such a manner.

im just gonna rap it up here, coz im about to jump off the bus.

Messags me if you nedd anything,

The thing is we do actually patrol Athira, we use the spawn in athira, and as said it is realy hard to patrol in the smaller city when we do try there is almost always Gangs that dont want to roleplay or anything, all they do is trying to bait us in to a gungfight or take us hostage.

Used to be kavala patrolled kavala

athira done athira,

RTU+Academy roamed between.

all got thrown out last year

Well as many of these thoughts are ideal or helpful. We should consider this in a community meeting? Because here is a concern I wish to display.

Police are often out gunned or out numbered

Police rarely can respond to small robberies since drug bust's/HM/Prison/house raids are too often

Police rarely do spawn in Athria/Pyrgos often reason of this being is because, gunfights or robber's in Kavala. They attempt to leave the Kavala patrol area but end up getting stuck in a other situation in Kavala.

But in foremost community wise:

Weapons are not apart of the issue, but for almost a year now we've been having this debate over Rebel and Police RP. Police will say "Oh all they want to do is shoot and rob" Rebel will say "Oh all they do is taze or arrest and deny roleplay" But this is normally blamed on entire faction rather than a certain gang or officer. But honesty everyone shouldn't be out to win 24/7 just cause. It amzes me that many forgot you can Roleplay weed or roleplay your hunting a dangerous rabies animal. There is not much to making a creative moment funny or hilarious. But at the end of the day, do we wish to add more weapons and vehicles rather than just Roleplay?

By the way police are not useless, its often mistake for sometimes having a full plate that they cant eat half.

Lets all come together next community meeting and resolve this debate for good. Been too long in my book.

Issues I feel are a thing right now in the police force:

- Little to no Organisation within operations and no tactical awareness

-Using numbers of officers to only overcome operations and not thinking how to use them effectively

-Under armed officers

-Riot gear would be nice

-People moaning at each other for being "bad"

-The whole police vs rebel bullshit

-Higher ups not valuing lives of lower ranked officers.

That still wouldn't help because the officers are still in Kavala or somewhere else far away from Pyrgos or Athira. This is one of the reasons why i left the police as no-one would patrol in pyrgos unless they spawn there to get their boats out.
I would happily drive to Athria and Pygros. To be fair I normally patrol near Athria and driving down to Pygros isn't a hard task. You can't blame the entire cop force only particular people who don't enjoy helping

It's just that everyone doesn't always have to be in Kavala, you can always get roleplay elsewhere.

Point 1: I can agree on that a fair few lower and higher ranking officers get to kill hungry and just rush gunfights and the completly loose focus on how to deal with it sometimes.

2. Pretty fair point teaching the officers how to for example do a big drug bust with 5+ rebels with drugs and extra gang members etc. Teaching them how to approach with as little casuallties as possible would be a good way to do it BUT hard to train all 300-400 ish cops how to think tacticaly.

3. Not really no. As a PC you get lethals and rubbers for the mk20c a weapon perfect for close quarter combat to 300-400 meter shots. SPC's get a MK20 almost the same BUT longer ranged  and you can get a suppresor for it. Like all the guns cops get are very useful and not hard to use well in a fight aginst mx's etc. When I was an SPC all I ran around with was a STING in a HM and still got a fair few amount of rebels.

4 "Riot gear" so tear gas and helmets becuase that's about as much as you can add to the server without mods really. Or you could just use your Tazer,Rubbers and a Carrier rig BAM gear to keep an angry croud rioting in place since you don't want to kill the poor hobos.

5 That happend very very rarely when I was in cops the few times I was in atleast, sometimes you had a salty cops who would be a bit anoyed but otherwose it would be fine.

6. Well not much that can be done really since it's still a part of the game. If you're a cop yourself a tip if you wanna have less rebels to deal with, just do something else. You're still a cop almost all units respond to a big fight. Go help the poor dimond traders they get robbed all the time, hang around with them, talk to them.

7. This one happend very often in the police when I was in it. I remember being a poor PC on a NCA patrol as a guest and everyone telling me "tell the rebels they are outnumberd that you have sharpshooters on the hils and several armed cops around the area." but we were just 6 cops 3 of those on hills 2 on the ground and me telling 7 armed rebels to surrender or be and I quote the NCA officer "Tell them to put their hands up or be shot by your police snipers on the hill"

This has happend eay too often ad a lower rank or even more cops sending in CSO's and PCSO's alone to try and arrest 5 armed rebels while the rest wait for gun shots to be fierd so they can get "frags" for their frag montage

I don't exactly get how It kills roleplay, If anything it enhances roleplay. We have to roleplay impounding a vehicle, also you may not know this but we can't just go to any garage and put it in. It doesn't work like that as the police's vehicles work as rented vehicles in order to store our vehicles without impounding we need to return to the PD and select the "store owned vehicles" option at the vehicle retrieve.

I would advise actually to try joining the police and understanding how our systems work and sometimes the lack of units to patrol. We have a lot to go throguh everyday, from RDMrs, Trolling Hobos, Bank operations, Hostage operations, Drug busts, House raids and especially with sometimes the often low manpower.

Along with specialised Units as such as NCA who cover Narcotics areas only. We're specialised in that section as it makes our operations more efficient and successful.

Just for reference of you using the term "useless" to describe the police.

NCA:

Armed Response:
Pal linking How many people you guys camped the hell out of and shot to death at weed processor isn't what people want to see...

we want to see the return of the witty cop that saves Civs in need and puts a smile on people's faces

I agree to a certain extend. Let's face it like this. Is keeping drugs away from kids and is keeping armed people from running a city not putting a smile on your face? It is, but indirect. People often forget that next to the police walking in the greenzone and impounding cars there's a lot more and I'm sure you know aswell. I guess I can speak for the entire force: say we try everything to make the civilians smile. We do help as many people as we can, giving the best roleplay and deal with situations the best we can. Some evenings we have enough time to talk with people on the street, help and assist them for a longer time and show them what the police is like. Other evenings, we have dispatch after dispatch we have to respond. Sometimes we respond a little too late but we do everything possible to give the best service to the Altis civilians.

Being honest, we do put smiles on people s faces, we do help people. We support the poor and help them living their life. People often notice gunshots more compared to us helping people, the reason we signed up for this afterall. No need to feel bad for us, it's called a police life. Do remember, it's not because you have the feeling we aren't around we are not in the area. We will always help you however you are with every problem.
