Revert the parking fee update

It just doesn't make sense, I have roughly 500 cars and it costs between 500-1175 per car to pull them out of a public parking right now. IDK if this is per day/storm/whatever this would average out on 825 quid per car. I would be paying over 400k daily or per storm just to have cars?

I think this update was not nessecary and I think there's better ways to implement money sinks than this. Wonder what the community thinks about this.

+1 to reverting this change.

I echo many of the points already made. This seems like a very unnecessary change.

It would be good to get some clarity as to what the goal with this is, especially as it will disproportionately affect newcomers, those pursuing solo entrepreneurial activities and those trying to do other lines of RP outside of WL groups and businesses with access to parking. It's more challenging for these players to make money as it is since many activities have to be done by businesses or WL groups.

A simple cascading effect from this is the following:
Less cars sold > Less motivation for people to open and sit at dealerships if nobody showing up > Less RP interactions > Businesses being stale and inactive.

From the top of my head, I can probably list off a handful of other direct and indirect negative effects this has. I am struggling to see how any positives a change like this has outweighs the many negative effects.

Perhaps a suggestion to amend this. Instead of charging at the current public parking locations, why not add some new, premium parking locations which are closer to certain in-city activities? You could charge a premium to use these new locations since it would be providing convenience to the users of it.

+1 maybe look at a monthly road tax of £50-100 per vehicle you own. For example supers could be £100 per month. Muscles £75, cheapest of cars £50.

That way money still gets taken from everyone but more balanced since newcomers would only pay £50 a month for their one car whereas those of us with the money can support the collection of cars

I'm okay with it, think of it like a parking maintenance and storage fee, in the real world if you left a car in a carpark for 4 months it would probably get towed and scrapped

I think the issue with most people is more you have too many cars 😂 what the hell do you need 500 cars for

I own 63 tho I do keep wanting to drop that to like under 10

But I'm cool with the change Hell if you really want to, think of it like paying road tax and insurance
Go to the real world i guess.

There is a diffrence between game and real world for a reason if we wanted to play a fully 1 to 1 replica of what is IRL then we wouldnt be playing the game nah ?

depends i work in retail irl and come to rpuk and run a cafe and manage 3 other businesses I find it enjoyable

I'm perfectly fine with bringing things more in line with irl and what I would see as more RP stuff

I just don't see issues with adding in things that you would have in the real world like fees for leaving stuff in long term parking

Or could replace the fee with car deteriorating leave the thing in a parking lot for 6 months and see how well it runs

Tbf in terms of what people can earn now a couple hundred is nothing if we were in 2021 where a taxi job paid just enough to cover the fuel you used to to the job sure then I can see a issue but people go from fresh to multi millionaires within the week couple of hundred isn't going to hurt

Huge +1
"More rp stuff" - i fail to see the rp from paying to get my car out
"I just don't see issues with adding in things that you would have in the real world like fees" - at the end of the day its a game we come to have fun. People are already handling with fines as it is, and
now this which seems very costly. Either revert this, or reduce it to below $100 and even that isnt the right thing tho imo

+1 on reverting the current parking fee system.

I joined the community back in July, so I’m not sitting on hundreds of cars or tens of millions in assets. I own around 20–50 vehicles, mostly used for logistics — trucks, vans, off-roads — and they’re often parked for extended periods due to the nature of materials work. The rack-up pricing is absurd and disproportionately affects players like me who are active and contributing daily.
Before implementing or keeping this system, I strongly suggest evaluating the actual financial impact on the playerbase:

  • What’s the average net worth of players who’ve been active for 1–2 years?
  • How much will this system cost them over the next 3–4 months?
This change hits grafters and material groups the hardest, while longer standing players with massive assets and group parking setups are barely affected(if group parking is free).
If this system must stay, here are some ideas to make it more balanced:

1. Limit fees to specific garages:

  • City Hall
  • Pillbox (Hospital. upper and lower).
  • Dealerships (excluding employees)
  • Impound Lot
  • Police public parking
2. Allow house parking upgrades:

  • Similar to container upgrades
  • Have a max amount such as 5 slots or whatever it is.
3. Fixed parking fee:

  • Example: £150/week
  • Ensures players under £1 million can break even with paychecks.

I dunno, might be a hot take but this is what I think atleast...

I would like to hear the reasoning behind this change, as it makes no sense what so ever...

I saw your idea about upgrading house parking, why not instead be able to buy a warehouse for a monthly fee where you can stash vehicles? Could make stashing stuff without a container more interesting as well as police raids. Make it so you can stash 25 cars but can upgrade the stash to increase the monthly price.

Would be cool to go into a warehouse searching cars rather than pulling them out one by one to search them

A suggestion was only recently denied for storing cars in containers Tbf. I recon they would treat it the same.

Do you only pay on days that you are active on the server? Or are inactive players going to come back to no vehicles?

i wouldnt mind paying £500 every time i pull out a car from public parking, as a one time fee not something that stacks for everyday its in there. I dont know how this new system works :)
